Would you rather see a Sparking 2 or a Budokai 4?

Post by Chaos Saiyajin » Thu Jan 26, 2006 9:03 pm

:P Heya all, since I live a rather boring life and I'm on the internet three hours outta the day, I decided to make a topic.

A topic about what you ask? It's actually very simple. Would you rather see another Sparking! game or another in the Budokai game series? (Bear in mind that Tenkaichi is the American equivalent of Sparking! and therefore is not a Budokai game.)

Without further adeu...My opinion!

I would personally like to see a Sparking-like game with some of Budokai's perks. Transformations and a capsule system would be nice additions to a game like Sparking. From Sparking! I'd leave the amazing story mode, except add something like newly animated cutscenes and and an animated opening.

What would you rather see? Sparking 2? Budokai 4? Spabudokai?
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

Well, following the U.S. release of "Chou DragonBall Z", I'd like to see a game for the Ps3 console, where basically it'd be one final ultimate DBZ game. This game would be neither a sequal of the Budokais, Sagas, or Budokai Tenkaichi, but a mixture of all those different game genres. Taking all the best aspects of those games as well, maybe making an ultimate DBZ 3D RPG. "Chants RPG*

I would have to go with a Budokai 4, Polish Budokai 3’s graphics up a little. Add DB&DBGT characters, and add much larger more destructible environments and ill be a happy camper. Ohhhh yah Japanese language feature also.

I would actually like to see a DragonBall fighting game! Using Budokai's fighting engine but without techniques from DBZ. The character line-up would be smaller, but it would be a new experience.
But to get back on topic, I would have to say that I'd like to see Budokai 4. only because I don't like the controls in Sparking I do, however like flying in any direction per Sparking, so it would be cool if they added something to that effect on Budokai 4!
I'm on a PSP. And I'm trying to follow the rules!

Recently Naruto had his third game with rpg elements.
I would like to see a "Dragon Universe" where you visit stores and
equiping one character with some clothes changes his design too.
But after all, I am glad with the gameplay of budokai 3.

I think sparking was made to be more of an adventuring game
mixed with fighting game. Well it didn't make right any of this styles.
Not even the cutscenes was good so.. I don't think I will be playing
Sparking 2 if it will ever exist.

Tell me about Shin Budokai.....

Out of the two, I would definitely take another Sparking over another Budokai. Budokai is a more traditional fighting game than Sparking. And to be brief, there are already tons of traditional fighting games out there.
Sparking was a refreshingly different game to play. Whether it's better than Budokai 3 or not, it was new to me, and I still very much enjoyed it. A sequel would only give them more chance to improve the series.

I know it's not the first of its type (I hear Zone of the Enders and other games have similar gameplay), but they still aren't anywhere close to oversaturating the market like fighting games have. And it was still the only time I ever played a game like that.

But if I could pick any type of game for a new DragonBall title, I'd love to see a 3D action/adventure game of DragonBall. Kinda like a 3D Advance Adventure.

Definately sparking!
A more in depht story mode with longer shortcuts and maybe more action/rpg part, plus if it could cover all db and gt, that would be a dream game.

I want another Sparking!. Updated graphics(its always nice to have new graphics, but with the DBZ feel like this game not the hyper realistic stuff), more story(from beginning of DB to end of GT+ all movies and what-ifs), more characters(how much more can they fit there? maybe they'll put in Kid Vegeta <_<),better cutscenes, and...I can't think of anything else. Could they even fit all that on one disk?

We already have 3 budokai, and we are about to get an ultimate version of B3, through Shin Budokai. I think that a second sparking with improved gameplay and graphics would be better.

Then again, I haven't played Sparking! yet, so I don't know how good of a game it is.

Id rather have another Sparking if they fixed the camera angles. They ended up just being plain confusing at times. Sparking was just so much more challenging than the Budokai games. The Budokai series, in my opinon, seemed too easy.

I would rather have Sparking because I just LOVE the new camera angle. I myself have it on option 3 (the farthest away from the camera). We already had three starndered budokais. My non-dbz friends also think the new game style is amazing as well.

Hard to decide so, in that case if I were to choose:

1. Sparking 2 -

* In game transformations
* Lots of alternative costumes like in B3 B2 etc
* Better cut scenes and larger areas to move in
* More techniques for characters
* Remove the split screen for the 2 player mode

2. Budokai 4 -

* Lots of alternative costumes like in B3 B2 etc (Epsecially with Gohan, like for teen Gohan I wanna see the costumes he already has in B3 plus the orange gi he wore in Movie 9 and the Piccolo outfit with the extra cape. As for adult Gohan, again B3 costumes plus Gt. Saiyanman outfit minus headgear and cape like in B2 and just the black bodysuit with gloves and saiya-jin boots (basically Gt. Saiyanman suit minus the green turnic and belt). Etc for the other characters ...

* Atleast 2 ultimate moves for each character without having to go into hypermode E.g. L1 = 1st Ultimate Move and L2 = 2nd Ultimate Move

* Again more techniques and attacks for each character

* 2 vs 2 and probly tag team too

I would agree with that too.

Yeah, I'd so love to get that damn split screen off of Sparking...Maybe we'll get Fat Janemba, Pan, and Piccolo Daimao as playable characters one day in the distant future...

Speaking of which, who would you like to see added as a playable character more than anyone else? My vote goes to Pan.

Well in full truth, split screen doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. It's a small price to pay for having a third person camera angle. :P
All the better to make the next series online

I actually love the split screen, it takes the game from a mere fighter and into the adventure realm.
That said, I'd like only a few changes...

1. Create-a-character mode. 'Nuff said.

2. In-game transformations. Seriously, picking your "level" before starting is fucking stupid.

3. More variety in character strength. I like the idea of a SSj1 Goku beating up a SSj3 Goku... it's funny, but retarded. I'd really like to see RPG-like character statistics (which could be increased) but that seems unlikely.

4. Geometric Modification. How much could it possibly cost to liscence this from Volition, or design themselves? Red Faction had it in '01, why doesn't Atari have it by now? I want to be able to blow chunks out of the ground, punch holes into mountains, and destroy major city-scapes by powering up.

5. Super-sazed levels. I mean hug levels here. I want to fly to the moon, then to the Kame House, then Capsule Corp, then back - without loading. That's a tall order, but I'm greedly like that. :D

Well maybe one day that will happen on PS3. The developer of Budokai Tenkaichi said that to have all the fighting arenas connected to each other would mean that they would have to make a 'global' system but it takes too much power on the PS2.
I think it would be great if they kind of made a role-playing factor (branching out) as well because then you would have to train to reach the desired level and if you loose a battle, that’s it and you only have one chance at that specific fight. I want in-game transformations back but a nice added feature would be that you could start at a transformation and level up or down depending how much power you have.

That 'branching' idea is great :D I'd really like to see a free-roam world (yes, like GTA, I don't care if it sounds cliché).

Yeah and say if your Goku or something and get killed by Frieza, you then start fighting as Frieza from that point on. But that becomes another idea of course.
