Months of the Year!

Post by ChaotixXero » Wed Feb 08, 2006 4:26 pm

Okay, were any of the months of the year in the Dragon World ever said?
I wanted to know because I remember reading a volume of Dr. Slump and the months were named after fish! Since Arale is in Dragonball(atleast for a bit) I wanted to know if the months were the same, if Viz made it up, or if Mr. Toriyama has never said anything.

By the way, does anyone know all the months from Dr. Slump?

I can't recall anything specific, but I always assumed DragonWorld had the same months as we do. Of course, there was that "M__ 7th" line in one of the Viz mangas (or was it "M__ 21st"?) refering to the Tenkaichi Bodokai.

I didn't know Dr. Slump had different years, though - maybe DragonBall uses the same ones.

Well for one, May (12th) is mentioned by Mirai Trunks in DBZ as to the day when the two Jinzoningen would show up, in episode 122.

Dr. Slump has years mentioned of the years they appeared originally(ie. 1980, etc). Though specific years aren't mentioned in DB/DBZ properly, if one goes by what was used in the guide books, there can be disreprency. (Spl?)

I'm not sure if this is right or not, but I seem to remember someone saying that "M_21st" was an error and was corrected to "May 21st" in the Kanzenban re-release.
Don't have the volume right in front of me, but I believe it was that "M. 17th" was changed to "May 26th."

Penguin Village and its inhabitants are all cameos. For them to fit into DB canon, you have to pretty much ignore the events of Dr Slump. It's like how NMZ can't fit into DB-canon, but it does work vice-versa.

I'm not sure, but in Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle, Bulma mentions that she is on Summer Holidays.

She said that during the original DB quest as well. That's why she was on a timeline.

It probably doesn't count because its filler, but when the Oni meets with Baba to give her Goku's message, he's holding a notebook that reads "1989" in bold letters on the front.
On hiatus.

Ya that's just a "send-off" to the year that those eps were made. The world of DB doesn't follow the same years as our world does.
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

So the DB world goes in the 800's. Am I correct?

Actually the whole story takes place in the 700s. Vegeta was born in 732, and he's the oldest of the "main" characters.
