How much would the Dragon Boxes go for on eBay?

Post by Amiable-Akuma » Mon Feb 20, 2006 6:21 pm

Both because I may want to bid on one if it ever comes up and/or since I might want to sell one later (if I ever get one from Japan first) - I'm curious as to how much cash you guys think each of the Dragon Boxes will go for if sold on the US eBay with the audience of Americans as primary bidders.

What price would you imagine each different box could be sold for?

I remember about two months ago I saw DBZ Box Vol 2. up on eBay but I never followed up to see. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Dragon Boxes rarely sold on eBay?

Because I've used eBay rarely and don't much about this stuff in general, I'm just curious...

I thought I saw one on eBay for two grand. Two grand.

You'll never see one under $1000, and If you do - grab it. Right away.

There is a big misconception to how much Dragonboxes are worth, and how much they can be sold for. The same could be said for every R2, limited release of an Anime, and DBZ is no exception.

THere are some people who are willing to pay a lot of money, however you need to understand that a lot of those people are now buying the singles or already own the Dragonboxes. There is then a market that couldn't afford the full or 20% off price when they came out, so you might be able to get your money back via that market. Either way, it's all a bit of a risk, because while you and others might consider them valuable, the average e-bayer isn't going to bite because really, it's a lot of untranslated episodes, an untranslated book, etc.

Your best bet would be to put it up there with a reserve of what you, at the very least, want from each box/boxes in general. Someone once tried to sell a Vol. 1 box for $1600, and no one bit. if a box is around $400, you'll get a sale, but then you'll be losing out on a few hundred dollars.

I should say to be very much on the alert of those selling Dragon Boxes IF you ever see any. I nearly wasted $237 on an auction I won for both Z box sets. The auctioneer left eBay when I asked him for additional pics for proof of him actually having them before I could write up a check. :|

Unfortunately, the abundance of bootleg Dragonball DVDs will greatly reduce the value of the DragonBoxes to most ebayers. Good for people who want to buy the DragonBoxes, but bad for the sellers.

This isn't true. I own two of the bootlegs for the Z Dragon Box and I'd say the Dragon Box is far more worth the purchase. At least you get complete episodes (the bootlegs don't include Next Episode previews unless it's the last episode on the disc, though the GT preview is missing), extras are unavailable in the bootlegs, the Dragon Boxes include official, new artwork on the cases and boxes and goodies, and the quality of the video doesn't tend to crap out on the Dragon Boxes.

They're still out of print. They're limited in number and every hardcore fan wants to own them.

Definately not going down in price.
