Dragon Ball things you never want to hear again
Re: Dragon Ball things you never want to hear again
"Toriyama forgot...".
I know he forgots a lot of stuff but using that as an immediate response for every single minor error irks me. I'm not talking about when that is thrown as a joke but when people say that as a "fact". For the record, I don't believe he forgot about Lunch like most people say. I can accept that maybe he forgot her for the majority of the Z arcs but since he gave a reason for her absence and intended to show her donating for the Genki-dama, I believe he just didn't find an use for her anymore. Let's face it, she'd just be killed by Raditz after shooting him.

KAMEHAMEHA...so annoying!
Re: Dragon Ball things you never want to hear again
That guy said, that Dragon Ball was never released for DVD in Romania, and it`s true, but there is this small thing called import, and region free players are very common. Answering topic question
-Dragon Ball characters, really remind me of RPG characters, most of them wear same set of clothes all time.
-Make fun of people, who prefer different dub than original Japanese one.

DBZ is a show about spiky-haired, muscle heads being constipated, staring and throwing fire balls at each other for 5 episodes at a time.
Re: Dragon Ball things you never want to hear again
It takes 10 episodes for something to happen.

*People insulting other people for using dub names. Even the site itself is getting in on the pettiness.
*"Saiya-jin". People being obsessed with the "correct" names in general.
*People saying that Vegeta isn't that bad of a guy, or blaming everything bad he ever did on someone else.
*Krillin and Yamcha being ribbed on. Each have saved the day at least once, and Krillin's done it three times, maybe more. They deserve some respect.
*People saying Bardock is a hero.
*People saying what is or isn't canon. Outside of the manga, no one has said anything about what is or isn't "canon", so let people think what they want, and let them choose what they consider in their personal canon. For example, the Bardock special is usually referred to as canon, but it has no more right to be "canon" than Cooler's Revenge or Bojack Unbound. Same with that 2008 special.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

'Linda Young's Freeza sucks because she doesn't make him sound like a gentleman." Being a gentleman wasn't the only character trait Freeza had.

There was nothing wrong with Linda Young's Freeza acting wise IMO, she did well considering her scripts etc and she improved along with the other cast members. If anything she was the best voice (acting wise) from the original season 3 dub.

Re: Dragon Ball things you never want to hear again
Has "Toriyama is dead" been added in here yet? I'm sure that was one of the first ones added to this thread but I have a funny story that has to do with this myth. My girlfriend, she is the best, was at work and overheard two kids talking about Dragonball. One of them was so hell bent on the fact that Toriyama was dead. Apparently it got to the point where my girlfriend just caved and interrupted the conversation(she didn't want to be rude) and pointed out that not only was he not dead, but was also working on Battle of the Gods. I was so proud of her!
...ok I'm done bragging now.

Base GT Goku wins everyone because he is Goku.
Seriously, that's complete bullshit. Goku gets his ass kicked plenty of times, and he required help by others against every single major villain. He needed Pan's help to take down Luud, he lost against Rild, he lost against Baby 2 times, and in their 3rd fight, he wouldn't have won if Gohan, Goten, Trunks & Pan had gave him their Saiyan power & if Oob wasn't eaten by Baby. He wouldn't have won Super #17 if #18 had never come to keep blasting #17 & make him a balloon for Goku to defeat. He wouldn't have survived against Super Yi Xing Long if he hadn't surpassed his limits thanks to Gohan's, Goten's, and Trunks' Saiya powers, or if Vegeta had never come to use Fusion, and he would never have killed him without the power of the entire Universe. The only fights he won by himself were fights against opponents that were much, much weaker than him.

Re: Dragon Ball things you never want to hear again
Have no idea why people think he is a good guy. He doesn't become one until much later in the series and has murdered people when he really didn't need to, but did it because it was fun. Blame the old Funi script with Vegeta saying Freeza made him do it.RandomGuy96 wrote:*People saying that Vegeta isn't that bad of a guy, or blaming everything bad he ever did on someone else.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

The quote I have from Kaiserneko sums up Linda Young as Freeza.TheMightyOzaru wrote:Linda Young sucks in general =/.ringworm128 wrote:'Linda Young's Freeza sucks because she doesn't make him sound like a gentleman." Being a gentleman wasn't the only character trait Freeza had.
Freeza: Young played Genkai in Yu Yu Hakusho with the same voice she used for Freeza. That is mind-breakingly terrible. Ayers, on the other hand, is like coming out of a freezing storm, nearly frostbitten and about to pass out, into a warm, welcoming cabin with hot cocoa, blankets, and a supermodel of your preferred gender asking to help you get comfortable.
