DBZ references in SGT Frog/Keroro Gunso

Post by Magica » Sat Apr 01, 2006 7:55 pm

I checked out a couple of volumes from the libary, and I noticed that there's a couple of pages that have references to DBZ. I wasn't sure wha forum to show this off in, but I scanned the pages to show them off. All of these read right to left, so read the right page before the left one, if necessary.

Volume 4:

The black frog, Tamama has a scouter (Warning: VERY HUGE scan. About 750k)

Volume 5:

Keroro goes "Super Saiyajin" (About 250k)

Just a small reference, but Tamama (Black frog) has a DBZ thought again. (About 270k)

Might load slow because of the size. Sorry about that.

The scouter thing cracks me up...I also loved the Eva parody in Volume 4. :P

Isn't it? Kakarotto doesn't and will never translate to Kakarot in English. So I'm still baffled at the change...

It also makes Vegetto make no sense if you go by American naming system.

Vegeta + Kakarotto = Vegetto

US:

Vegeta + Kakarot = Vegetto as FUNi leaves it, but if you're a stickler for names...Vegeot!

EDIT: Thanks to Caster Troy's sig! http://www.animecauldron.com/dbzuncenso ... rdock.html

The pun is on 'carot', and the 'o' is just how the Japanese say things - they cannot say 'Kakarrot' they put an 'o' on the end. Arguing that the 'true' name is 'Kakarroto' instead of 'Kakarrot' is like arguing 'Tarrus' over 'Telluse'.

We refer to Vegetto as 'Vegetto' because 'Veget' sounds retarded.

Castor's sig is meant to be ironic.

To think that someone is still preaching that kind of thing in this day and age, and all that.
Where's the beef?
