Sorry to one-line post, but I think Akira's nailed it.

What strikes me as unusual is that Kaioken increases power by a multiple , whereas SSJ increases power exponentially.
If that is the case, why shouldn't there be more than enough potential to contain Kaioken within the SSJ form? I'm not too keen to throw out numbers , but if SSJ is classed as Kaioken X 50 , I think that may be very well underestimated.
Let us take into account Goku at the end of DBZ. He had achieved all SSJ levels (within the canon timeline), but I still believe he could have multiplied this power using Kaioken.
Aside from his natural "gift" which pushed him to SSJ2, Gohan demonstrated that even with the most basic of levels, there was still huge potential to be brought out. There may have been just enough potential left in Goku after ascending all SSJ levels within DBZ to push out a basic Kaioken X2, which is what could have meant the difference in some of the later fights.
Take into account the exponential increase SSJ gives, in addition to the basic 2 x multiplication of power that Kaioken gives and were talking massive increases.
Anyhow, I agree yet again, I think Akira explained it in the most reasonable terms!

Thanks for the kind words guy. I guess maybe he could only handle using it as a Super Saiyan while he was dead. Super Saiyan 3 was a terrible strain on him when he was alive. I can't imagine him using Kaioken while in Super Saiyan form while alive. It is the only explanation I can think of for why he never used it again after that one time.
Maybe that is how he reached Super Saiyan 3 in the first place? Pushing himself to the limits of Super Saiyan 2 and getting his dead body used to doubling and tripling his Super Saiyan power? This is entirely speculation on my part, and it isn't even something I would defend in a debate. It is, however, something interesting to think about.

Again, yes, it is interesting. Stop coming up with theories, dude, you're making the rest of us look bad.Akira wrote:Maybe that is how he reached Super Saiyan 3 in the first place? I recall that Krillin and Yamcha were scared witless when Buu came to the other world, as they thought they would be killed again and not exist in this realm.
If there was any indication that using Kaioken would kill Goku whist in the other-world, why would he use it in the first place agaisnt Pakuhan? I'm sure he would know full well the consequeces if he pushed it too far whilst being dead.
As for your theory of maxed out SSJ2 caused SSJ3, it is an interesting thought. Although, now that I think about it.. maxing out SSJ did not actually cause SSJ2 in most of the Saiyans , with the exception of Gohan, whose rage caused SSJ2.
I'm not entirely sure about the theory of SSJ2 maxed out caused SSJ3. But hey, this is speculation and theorising on my part too
Maybe I'm just looking into this a little too far!

I thought of something else interesting. Is North Kaio the only Kaio to have developed a form of Kaio-ken? What about Pikkon? He seems to use a blue fiery version of the technique on more than one occation. Perhaps West Kaio also developed a similar technique, considering that fighters from his galaxy also seem to be quite powerful.

All characters mentioned except for North Kaio are filler.Akira wrote:I thought of something else interesting. Is North Kaio the only Kaio to have developed a form of Kaio-ken? What about Paikuhan? Well the kaiohken at high levels puts an enormous strain on the body so I'm guessing that if he used it while a super saiyan, he would explode.
Okay, not really but I suppose it seems unreasonably risky. Though, after Gokuh had spent all that time getting comfortable in the super saiyan form, you'd think he would've been able to pull it off. =shrugg=
