He can't answer based on his position.. I think that's a typical corporate answer. It basically means they screwed up, and if he ran his mouth and said about how no one cared about the exact dates of fictional events and making them consistent with guidebooks and the like, he'd be putting out bad public relations image for Toei or w/e and could be reprimanded. So his answer comes across as kind of a "don't look at me, I just work here" cop out answer.

Vegeta has been stronger a multitude of times.
Vegeta was nowhere near Captain Ginyu though so how was he stronger than Goku during the Ginyu arc ? Goku was beyond Ginyu's power so if Goku is beyond Ginyu then he is definitely beyond Vegeta. Also not long before Goku and Ginyu's fight, Vegeta got his ass kicked by Recoome, Goku beat him with ease. The only time i can remember Vegeta being stronger than Goku on Namek was when he had Dende heal him.

Re: Haircolors
When I add highlights to their base hair, I do normally go with the anime's "blue for Goku, brown for Vegeta". With ssjg I don't mind it being completely different.

For those who've read the summary: Does Vegeta say he wants to be the ssjg next time before or after he sees what it does to Goku?

Re: Guidebooks
I'm relieved that at least Goku's extra character model sheets in the DVD magazine are also in the guidebook, as it's the guidebook that I ordered (and should eventually receive).

I'm sad and surprised though that there aren't ssjg character model sheets in either of the two magazines. (At least, not from what's shown in these scans). There's got to be some somewhere, right?

Ah, I was slightly disappointed when I saw that neither were in the movie guide when I got my copy today. I was considering picking up that DVD magazine for the poster sketches but I think I'll hold off. I'd like to see some of that unused storyboard of other characters fighting since that apparently exists. And yeah, Super Saiyan God sheets would have been cool too...

When Captain Ginyu got use to Goku's body Vegeta was easily defeating him. But I can't remember if Ginyu was able to use 100% of Goku's power.

Something about nailing down the year the movie takes place in and it being impossible that Pan or Bra isn't born yet? I'm not familiar with the specifics.

On top of the differing ages for Bulma and Mai, you also have the contradiction with when Planet Vegeta is destroyed. Here's a quick breakdown:
  • Pan is in the womb, and Bra is not mentioned. So we assume they're using Age 780 as Bra's birth year, making her younger than Pan.
  • Tarble is mentioned as a possible other Saiyan to use for Super Saiyan God, so in this universe, the "Jump Super Anime Tour" special took place; the special itself says it takes place two years after Buu’s defeat (May 9th, Age 774), which would make that event in Age 776.
  • Therefore, "Battle of Gods" likely takes place in either mid Age 778 or early Age 779 (for Pan to still be born in Age 779, assuming it takes nine months for gestation in the Dragon World...).
  • That lets the "Jump Super Anime Tour" special happen, Pan can still be born in Age 779, Bra is not yet be conceived/born (going with Age 780 for her birth), and a get-together happens five years ago (784 - 5 = 779, knowing the Budōkai happening in May into consideration)
  • Contradiction: Birusu specifically asks if Planet Vegeta was destroyed while he was asleep (yes, it was); if his nap was 39 years long (see: Oracle Fish’s prediction, which would have been before this nap), and Planet Vegeta was destroyed in Age 737, that would mean it would have to take place in Age 776, the same time as the JSAT Special... but that also means all the other things that make it work then suddenly make it NOT work; Pan is definitely given the age of 4 during the end of the manga (going on five years old), so she can’t be conceived two years after Buu's death and then still be four years old ten years after Buu's death. On top of that, Birusu had no idea Freeza had been defeated.

Also, Bulma says she's 38, which is way off for the "several years after Boo" timeframe (she should already be older than that during the Boo arc itself). This might be meant as a "she's lying about her age"-type joke, since Kuririn seems surprised and/or skeptical when he hears the number, but if so then it's not as explicit as it probably should be.

Would it be possible that Birusu was awake for a couple years before actually going to fight Goku? Or did he go straight from waking up, to hearing about Goku, to heading to Kai's planet?

It's never explained. In fact, they even mention the "Kaio's planet is small because Beers destroyed it" backstory from the full color comics Q&A. So we can't even say that he just bought a new one or something, because then it wouldn't be the remains of the original bigger planet that Beers blew up, so saying "it's only small because you destroyed it" wouldn't make sense. Unless Kaio had a spare fragment of his original bigger planet made into a smaller planet, but in that case why wouldn't he be living there in the Boo arc?

Also, for some reason in the movie Beers is said to have destroyed Kaio's planet due to getting mad after losing at hide-and-seek, rather than at a racing video game like in the full color comic explanation.
I suppose if Toriyama was ever asked about it he could simply say that the guys used the dragon balls at some point to wish back his planet for him since it was kind of Goku's fault it was destroyed (the second time). haha. It's an easy enough plot hole to fill, I just wish they'd filled it. In fact they could have merely added a single off-screen line to fix that.

All these little details they forgot are not really all that little. I mean he didn't have the planet from end of cell to end of the series. Gohan going "mystic/ultimate" is much easier to forgive if they forgot that even though that also is a fairly big plot point.

He couldn't, I recall Ginyu in Goku's body was only at like 20k something? And Vegeta was given a senzu so he had a small zenkai.

That's drawn by Naotoshi Shida.

It's a neat little cut from what the commercials have shown. It's a shame that his work near the end of the film seems to be the only fight scene with a well-known animator behind it.

In the movie he's shown waking up, then asking Whis about Planet Vegeta's destruction soon after, then from there they head right to Kaio's planet.

*Wonders what page the summary is on now.*

I'm so inwardly debating on "Should I read the super-detailed summary when it comes out and spoiler everything that's not purely visual?" when I know I'm just gonna read it anyway. XD

Ah, I hope BOG fanart floods pixiv once the movie's nation-wide (in Japan) release arrives (only 3 days from now. O_O ) I've been going to DA for my BOG fanart fix because it's much more prevalent there, but I'm super-curious as to what'll appear on pixiv in terms of BOG art.

I hope we do get an answer for them soon, and it's a shame Watanabe didn't answer them. Guess we need Toriyama for this job. Oh no... :P
