Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Using magenta in some merchandise and red in other merchandise satisfies both.
I find funny and slightly disturbing that as cute as Goku certainly looks, while in God form, I keep forgetting I'm considering cute a 40+ year old man
Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...

Well, he is more of a man-child. A boy trapped in a man's body. So there's that.
...Oh god that makes it worse doesn't it.

Goku reverts from Super Saiyan God directly back into being a regular Super Saiyan, and only fights Beers in that form (apart from briefly becoming SSG again), so it's not clear how Goku's base form factors into all this.
According to the synopsis, base Goku could put a much, much better fight than he did in Super Saiyan 3, so I guess he can use some of the power even in base.
all of a sudden his red aura disappears and he reverts back to his normal Saiyan state. The two continue to fight, with Goku using Shunkan-Idō to counter Birus’s increased speed. Birus unleashes a barrage of rapid fire ki attacks that Goku barely manages to dodge. Goku comes around Birus’s blind side and lands a hard punch to the gut. Birus is really angry now, and in his rage he fires off countless ki blasts in every direction.

But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: ssjg Goku's appearance and me reconciling how cute it looks despite the awkward fact that Goku's older than he seems
I could try to reason out that he's still physically 7 years younger than his actual age due to being dead, but I guess that would still put him somewhere in his 30's. ^^;;

Is it? The trailer shows Goku transforming into Super Saiyan when he is trapped in the boulders, and the synopsis describes exactly the same thing. Except if Goku reverts from SS to his base form, and then re-transforms into a Super Saiyan.

Well, maybe not then. I was under the impression that during the final battle Goku only fought as Super Saiyan God and a regular Super Saiyan, but I guess that shows what I know.
To anyone who watched the film: does Goku immediately goes to SSJ or is his transformation similar to the 2008 special (powers up, then SSJ) on his 1st fight with Bills?
Looks like the movie did very, very well at the box office on its first day: http://news.biglobe.ne.jp/entertainment ... 08442.html
If I'm interpreting this right, then it looks like the movie is certain to exceed its 3 billion Yen target.

No, that's not a typo. He does go back to his regular Saiyan state after losing his God Mode, then powers up to his Super Saiyan state later to knock all the boulders away from himself.

Well, he kinda looks like a teen while in his ssj god mode.

Could anyone clarify the box office's results on the first day?

Near as I can tell such is not given in that article.
There are so many scenes and pictures leaking out there's already a handful of clips on YouTube.. I'm really shocked. Figured security and anti-piracy would be top notch for this. It's only a matter of time before the entire movie is out there... if it isn't already.

The best and most powerful villain in Dragon Ball
The dragonball heroes SSJG Goku looks badass and I hope it sticks to the games color rather then being too pink as some pics and screen shots are too pink while others aren't.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
The more pinkish hue is a bit too garish for me, I'd like to see it a little more redish.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Yeah I'd prefer a more fiery style hair.
Yeah. I'd rather the hair be like his SSJ form, and have it move like as if it was a flame like you said. The pink is just off putting.
