I think I would laugh like a maniac non-stop for a full day if they gave Bills/Beers/Bruce/Billy a BP number that's less than what a lot of enthusiasts have for, like... Yakon, or something.

The 2nd one appears to have everything but the "Library of Adventure" which is over 100 pages of character design sketches from the anime... that is a sad omission but I can do without it, and the "All Story Digest" which was basically just a glorified episode list, which I have with my Dragon Boxes.

Did I get it all or am I missing something?

Not bad at all. I can do without that material easily I think.
I'm guessing the 3rd Chozenshu would probably include the "Library of Adventure" since it's using the Animation Part 2 as it's title (although it'll mostly cover the Movies and TV specials). I hope they include it in the next volume, since those were some of the best sections of the 3rd, 5th, 6th, and supplemental Daizenshu.

So, I just got the Chozenshu: Animation Guide Part 1 and I gotta say, it's a lot better than I thought it would be. I thought it was gonna be mostly the same images as the Daizenshuu counterpart(s) but with updated fonts and graphics here and there. I was shocked to find that they just basically re-printed the TV animation Daizenshuu's into one book.

Some might see this as a bad thing, but to have what is basically all the TV Animation Daizenshuu's in one book, that's pretty awesome. I'm sure if you're following this thread you know there were some things left out like the Character Library and the All Story Digest (episode guide). But hey, this is only Part 1 of a two part topic. Who knows what we'll get in part 2.

The section they added to this book is something called "Special Pictures" which is info on DragonBall Kai, Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return, Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans and The Episode of Bardock feature. They kinda stick out because they don't really follow in the same format as the rest of the book. But they're "special" pictures so I guess it's OK.

Another new addition was Animation DragonBall The Great History which is a timeline of the TV animation on the back of the poster which featured Gohan and Freeza.

So, yea. This book was totally worth the 40 bucks I paid for it. It's like I got three Daizenshuu's in one book along with some new information. I can't wait for Part 2!

Dude, you really crack me up. I love that it takes you more than a month to catch up on these things. We established this almost right away when the Chōzenshū first came out, and then further dissected it here. Love you, man!

Yea... I knew these books were gonna be reprints, but I figured they'd still throw some stuff here and there. I guess I had to see it for myself? I don't know, it's been a weird month for me...

Gah! After this movie I'll be back in the loop again when I can actually remember the news! So much stuff being thrown out recently, I don't know how you guys do it. I've never seen so much activity on the site, I really just listen to the podcast now.

According to the link it'll also cover GT as well, something that I previously thought wouldn't be covered, since I believed it would be mainly sticking with DB/Z material. Based on the page number for the "Battle of the Gods" section something before that takes 29 pages to explain. I still hope it'll include the "Library of Adventure" section that was present in Daizenshu's.

Updated information for the 4th Chozenshu from Amazon. The ISBN is 9784087824995 (the ISBN for this volume hasn't been posted in the databook section of this site) and like the previous Chozenshu volumes the page count is 352.

I really hope the encyclopedia talks a lot about Battle of Gods and sorts out the problems with D7.

Hmm...Daizenshuu 7 is 313 pages long, so assuming this one doesn't throw in anything from another daizenshuu, that's 39 new pages.

39 new pages? That sounds pretty neat. I wonder what info we'll be getting.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Is there anything in Daizenshu 7 that could be cut, like the colored chapters or the Library of Adventures (so far anyway)?
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)

I was comparing the 2nd volumes page count with the contents of the Daizenshu's it was based on (cutting out stuff that was excluded like the Story Digest or Library of Adventure), and some how they are managing to condense the contents of the book and still be able to meet the 352 page count. For example adding up the sections that covered just the anime portion of the Daizenshu's (the visual walkthrough) plus the 18 pages that covered new content brought the page count to 350 (which wouldn't fit the Toriyama interview which took up five pages). Yet somehow it still managed to fit that all in.

There is a "Rare Illustrations" section in Daizenshu 7 and a merchandise guide. The Rare Illustrations could be cut to be put in the Chogashu. There was no Library of Adventure in the Daizenshu 7 is was only featured in the Animation Guides since it was character drawings for the anime and movies.

I completely expect the merchandise section of Daizenshuu 7 to be excluded. Perhaps it will be replaced with a (smaller) rundown of modern BOG products, but I sadly don't expect a reprint of such dated and out of print merchandise advertisements.

Do you have a list of all of these problems? I know Herms had a list of inconsistencies in the Daiz at one point, but other than the timeline one I can't recall nor read any of then at the moment.

Herms has some, and I think someone else made anther list on neoseeker. I also hope it can end some of the debates in the in-universe forum. Change some of the wording or add some more details to character bios, events, attacks/forms, etc.

Here's a link to with some more photos from the 3rd Chozenshu:

It's too small for me to make out but on the last Bardock page is the page number 65 or 165.

No, it looks like the book contains a new rundown of GT in the same format which the previous chouzenshuu used to cover stuff like Kai or Episode of Bardock. Those Chouzenshuu 3 pages definitely aren't reprints of the Perfect Files; PF Volume 1 devotes six pages to the same amount of story covered in the two Chouzenshuu 3 pages, and the screenshots used are almost completely different.

It looks like the Library of Adventure has been reprinted for this volume based on picture my seller sent me. I'd send the picture but I can't seem to get the function to work on this site.
