Oh, we'll be getting one apparently. Tsukento intends to do one, so I imagine we'll see something pretty good there.

Holy crap!
Image

When I saw that image I nearly crapped myself. I actually felt sick. "What the hell did Mike do?!" I thought "if that disc get's caught in there there'll be hell to pay".

I'm very protective of things I don't have.

I'm so fucking jealous. I didn't think I would be, but I'm pissed I don't have these. Damn my poverty.

That DVD player isn't even worthy of these discs. Hell, if I was to go all out and spend the amount to get the DragonBox, might as well get a heck of a good dvd player to show off the goods.

Neither is my Cyberhome CH-DVD300 unit, but sometimes we don't have 'worthy' players just lying around, and other times it may be because we can't afford worthy players, so we try our best with what we have.

I noticed the FUNi disc clips off a bit of the sides of the video (which is visible on the Dragon Box discs). Not to mention, the colors are HORRIBLY bland. Hell, comparing to Dragon Box, this is like VHS fansubs all over again. o__o;;

Also, it's quite a pain in the ass trying to edit the Dragon Box screenshots to match the FUNi ones. >__>

Those sound like fighten' words, mister! XD

In all seriousness, it kind of sounds like a lack of image editing experience, I mean, it can't be that hard to superficially line two images together which are minimally distorted in a way.

Oh certainly not. o_o It's simply due to the different screen sizes, not to mention the cropping on both videos making it a pain. Was trying to preserve the original videos as much as possible to make it less apparent that editing was done, y'know?

I really wanna see A screen cap from one of the DB movies though! Hopefully those are coming soon. But great job on the editing and turning me green with envy! :D

Is it about the same overall quality difference between the other Dragonboxes and their respective Funi releases, or is there less/more of a difference?

I realize that this will probably be on the feature, but if someone can give a brief and general answer, that would be great.
Lost explained it mostly, but to add a few things:

-The Toei discs are made from a new master. This means there's no cel damage and much, much less grain than the masters FUNi is using (which are probably quite old at this point).

-FUNi cranks up color saturation and applies a sharpening filter which results in lots of artifacting, enhances the presense of grain and causes Piccolo to be so green it burns your retinas ;p

-FUNi also encodes their discs at a poor bitrate, which not only results in loss of quality in general, but brightness especially.

In short: Dragonbox FTW. Mirite? ;)

-Corey
FUNimation tends to leave many free megabytes on their DVDs which, if compressed, would lead to significantly better-looking video quality. But they don't, so screw them, and go back in time to preorder your Dragon Box. :D  Amazon Japan & CD Japan

As I'm sure any number of people here will be likely to tell you, you might want to run over to the Introductions page and make a proper entrance. We want to meet you, after all!

It's there for a reason, so take advantage of it! And welcome!

I thought Fusion Reborn looked awesome, even if it was a FUNimation disc. I couldn't picture it looking any better than that. I wanted for nothing.

Then the final Dragon Box gets released, and now I mourn the feeling of perfection I once had. I love my FUNi copy, absolutely, but to dream of what might have been . . . sigh.

I was wondering about this but I'm way too lazy to search for an answer. Did Toei re-master the audio of the movies as well? And if so, what format is the audio?

I'm almost 100% I remember reading, or hearing in one of the podcasts, that they did infact remix/remaster the audio.

Although, I could be thinking about reading an AoD review... >.>; Either, it's pretty safe to assume they did.

Add me for some HD Remix or SF4.

Why is Super Saiyan 3 Goku (from Z) on the GT Box?

Edit: Hey, what are the extras on the Movie box set?

Thankfully I managed to get the Movie Box off Ebay last night, and yes, its legitimate. I didn't post here though for obvious reasons.
