How tall are the character in dragonball ?

You know I'm sure there's going to be a rough guide somewhere as most artists need guides to work. The animators would probably have one, but I'm not sure Toriyama himself would be that detailed? This is a man who is on record as forgetting who Brolly and Taopaipai are XD

Yes, but Broly wasn't designed by Toriyama, so that's understandable. However, I guess it's kind of odd he'd forget a character he did use in his manga. Perhaps it's because in the manga, TaoPaiPai hadn't been used since the Piccolo Junior Saga?

Also, I find the scan interesting, because it doesn't look like there's much of a difference between Goku and Vegeta, like there is in the anime, and Kuririn's a little bit more taller than Gohan than he usually is, who seems oddly tiny. To tell you the truth, this cover looks like Toriyama ran out of room on the paper to put the rest of the characters legs. The characters look very squashed up, don't they?

Also, there was always this thing I couldn't understand. How come Goku, Gohan and Pan were so short as kids? (Actually, Gohan suddenly grew after he and Goku exited the Room of Spirit and Time.) It's odd, isn't it?

Bleh, Vegeta IS tall on that pic. Infact his head looks like it's about to pop- but that's a bit gory...

I have a 'How to Draw DBZ' book. (don't roll your eyes yet) The character illustrations are the character animation profiles, and there's new art (done by that assistant of Akira Toriyama, if my recognition is correct) and oddly amusing Piccolo's jotted all over the place... it was sold along Daizenshuus in a German Anime shop, and I still wonder why my mom didn't consider buying those 'Big DragonballZ picture-books' *facefault*

I supose I should get around to scanning it...

However it doesn't bestow the wisdom of real-life heights. Just character's 'heads tall' and comparrisons to Goku. X3 I love this little amusing note about Vegeta's ears...

It's important to remember that the charcaters do age in DragonBall, and Vegeta gets taller.

Vegeta's height ranges from 4 heads saiyan saga to 6 heads (briefly) Cell saga; whilst maintaining a comfortable 5 heads through most. So either his genetics keep telling him taller-short-taller-shorter-taller-shorter; or it's style variation. (Yeah, I'm NOT someone who has to excuse Vegeta's shortness with a fanfic based dramatic plot about his traumatic childhood...)

Characters do age *nods* So, like, yeah, Gohan DID get taller *facefaults*

How about that scene near the end of the Boo saga, where all the heros are standing together at Kami-sama's Palace? I know not everyone is there, but using that as a starting point you could get a pretty good idea of how tall everyone else is by comparison.
