If such is the case, then you can consider his not powering up as backup to the "Maximum Potential" theory. If you aren't familiar with such...I'll explain it at your request.

I just assumed that Saiyajin sporatically tan as they get older. Like how Bardock and Paragus are pretty tan. Yet, for some reason Vegeta and his father never seemed very tan. Vegeta kinda does later in GT, but by all rights, assuming my theory is correct, he should've tanned a while before Goku. I'm gonna go ahead and guess that it depends on the family and whatnot. (Yay! Fanon!)theoriginalbilis wrote:All that time training up at Kami's (Dende's) Palace with Uub must've bronzed him up. It is really high in the sky and closer to the sun...veshira wrote: Oh yes, and why is Chibi GT Goku so tan? He's not tan as an adult before he turns into a kid, at the end of GT, the Goku jr. special, in any of the endings... I don't get it. I think he was tan as an adult (not SSJ) on one magazine cover or something.
In short, it stands to reason that the strongest Gohan could possibly be is when he was Mystic/Ultimate/ElderKaiUnlockAbility/whatever Gohan. Ergo, he wouldn't have gotten a "zenkai" boost because he was already as strong as he could be.chronocross wrote:Please explainDuo wrote:Who is "Mistic Gohan"? If Toriyama designed GT Vegeta, ...I can't think of anything.veshira wrote:Actually, didn't Akira Toriyama design Vegeta's... um, whatever hairstyle it is? (As well as the mustage?) A friend o' mine told me Vegeta has a haircut in GT because the animators couldn't draw Vegeta's original hair.Assholes.
But yes, Vegeta's hair is the same as in Z, plus a little extra that hangs over the shoulders, like Goku has, which I guess they got by mixing their hairstyles with an Oozaru's hair/fur at the top of the head. Hey, what would they look like if they had the Oozaru sideburns?

Of course, you could say that being at Kami-sama's Palace for 10 years closer to the sun gave him a tan, but again, that still doesn't explain "Saikyo e no Michi"("The Path to Power").
*Thinks about it*...budget. I mean, if you look at GT, there are all these little upgrades in the animation such as those white sheens on the characters that looks like it reflects sunlight and makes them look polished and shiny. I think the only time that effect was used before was on Gogeta in Movie 12("Fukkatsu no Fyuujon!! Goku to Bejita" or "Fusion Reborn"). *Insert Meri's drooling noises here*

Different animation. Most of the characters look at least a little different in that. Bulma has purple hair. Sgt Metallic is black. (Am I allowed to use the word black? Because you can't really call him "African-American" being a robot, and Japanese and all) Anyway, you get the idea.Yami-Tenchi wrote:that still doesn't explain "Saikyo e no Michi"("The Path to Power").
Well, I'd call them "darker;" the only characters I'd call black would be Uub (but I think he's middle eastern?) and Mr. Popo. (Yeah, Popo! The Lecherous Muten Roshi wrote:(Am I allowed to use the word black? Because you can't really call him "African-American" being a robot, and Japanese and all)
But yes, as a robot, that is pretty fuzzy. I guess you could; the robot wouldn't be African-Japanese or something, being a robot. (I guess their nationality would be "Made in Japan."

It's hard to be politically correct sometimes, huh? That's what I meant. I don't know if he's human, but he's black as in the colour black. Ugh. This is hard without sounding racist. It's like how Chaozu is white white. Is he human either? I guess so because he basically looks like a really short human with lots of face paint.desirecampbell wrote:Is Popo even human? Well, it may be racist, but that isn't necessarilly a bad thing if it's true, you know? If Popo is black, he's black; if Chaozu is white, then he's white. If Freeza's a lizard thing, then he's a lizard thing. (Gaah, I felt like randomly throwing him in.The Lecherous Muten Roshi wrote: That's what I meant. As for Chaozu being human, I recall him being called a type of [Japanese?] vampire, but he's difinately an "Earthling."
Hey, would that make Vegeta... a Vegetaling?

Well, Chaozu's design is based off a kyonshee vampire I believe.veshira wrote:As for Chaozu being human, I recall him being called a type of [Japanese?] vampire, but he's difinately an "Earthling."I guess that makes Goku an Earthling, too, since he's lived on Earth most of his life (and he's calls himself an Earthling on Namek in the dub; but I'm not sure if it's canon), and Piccolo could be considered an Earthling, having lived there for hundreds of years.
And I believe that Goku calls himself an earthling plenty of times in the Japanese version.
Heck, even Vegeta calls himself an earthling in GT. "I am an Earthling with the pride of a Saiyajin!" I thought that said a lot about how he'd changed over the years.
Yeah, it's like, one of Goku's catchphrases in the early parts of DBZ- 'I'm not a saiya-jin! I'm an earthling!' then in the Frieza saga he starts to call himself saiyan and stuff..
Vegeta saying he was an earthling in GT threw me of; as Goku was going around himself, crowing about how he's a saiyan o_O
Oh, Vegeta's hair; it's disputed but... it's actually a dark brown. In half the series his hair's been painted a dark brown, too... so the 'redness', or dark browness of Vegeta's hair in GT's no change at-all.
I have a few investigations into this in my journals (as an artist, it's my moral duty to be obsessed over weird things like that) at http://nekoni.deviantart.com/journal/6385764/ and http://nekoni.deviantart.com/journal/6297476/ (scroll to the DBZ pics) if only someone is interested they're there to visit.
When you watch the saiyans shrink from Oozaru to SSJ4; the Oozaru sideburns become those trails of hair over their shoulders (so tecnicaly they're still there)
Don't worry about going overly PC, PC's been crazy. He's 'black', black is fine, just don't diss him for being black--- not that he's really black, or really human... ...we live in a world where they censor cow udders.

Did he really? Wow, I never noticed that! Which is this topic. The Lecherous Muten Roshi wrote:Heck, even Vegeta calls himself an earthling in GT. "I am an Earthling with the pride of a Saiyajin!" I thought that said a lot about how he'd changed over the years.
Oh yes, Vegeta's hair color is odd. It changes throughout the anime. First it's red, then it's black, then it's black with a red tint, ect. Actually, in one of the Budokai games (I forget which one: 2 or 3), in the intro, Vegeta's hair is brown, but in the rest of the game it's black with a purple tint.
Come to think of it, I remembered something else I didn't notice before. In the manga (and the 10th Anniversary Special/Movie), Bulma's hair is purple, and that's where Trunks' purple hair comes from. For a long time, I thought Trunks had purple hair because Bulma's blue mixed with Vegeta's red tint and created purple or something.

There is a scene during one of the times Yamcha is staying at capsule corp where you can see his sword hanging on the wall as a display. The sword he had from the first saga of DB, which I figured they'd long since forgotten about. I can't seem to recall what part of the series that is at, but I remember spotting it and thinking it was a neat little detail.

I wasn't quite sure, but last night when DBZ was on Toonami, Dende while on earth made wishes to Shenron/Shenlong. When Shenron/Shenlong does his usual departure, it showed Porunga for a moment before he finally disappeared.
If someone doesn't mind, could you perhaps double check that episode for me?

Can you give me what the episode's name is, because I'm pretty sure I have it on VHS.Magica wrote:I wasn't quite sure, but last night when DBZ was on Toonami, Dende while on earth made wishes to Shenron/Shenlong. EDIT: Wait, wasn't it Porunga that granted the wishes, anyway?
EDIT2: Yeah, it was Porunga.

Silly veshira. There is no Japan in the DB world.
