What makes Vegeta such an appealing father?
What makes Vegeta such an appealing father?
I've noticed a lot of Vegeta fanboys tend to harp on his fatherhood a lot, why is that? I don't see other Shonen rivals getting that type of praise, its not like people say "Kaiba may have lost to Yugi in Battle City, but he cares for Mokuba and is an awesome brother so take that."

They probably mean in comparison to Goku.
That, or they just say it for the hell of it because it's Dragon Ball Z.

True. But then again, I could make a point for King Piccolo being a better dad than Goku. Should we put King Piccolo on a pedestal now?Gonstead wrote:They probably mean in comparison to Goku.

Vegeta took Trunks to a park (or whatever the place was). He must be the #1 father.

Vegeta's an appealing father? He's better than Goku in some regards, but he's still a bad father. This is coming from the number 1 Vegeta fan. I don't see how some fanboys think of Vegeta as a great father

And Super Buu. After Vegetto blew off his head, Super Buu's absorbptions would actually be clones of the originals that Super Buu made himself (cause, you know, the originals were disintegrated). Buu kept them safe inside and was mad when Goku separated them from him. Much better father than Goku.DBZAOTA482 wrote:Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo (both Senior and Junior), King Cold, and Cell are all better fathers than Goku.Gonstead wrote:They probably mean in comparison to Goku.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

It's entirely in contrast to the "~goku~ is best at everything" theme.

Personally, I thought the scenes he had with Trunks and Goten just before blowing up were amazing. So much passion

How is Vegeta a better father than Goku? Goku was shown to be more of a caring father to his kids, spending plenty of quality time with them in an entirely positive manner. Vegeta, on the other hand, admitted to not hugging Trunks as a baby, not caring when Trunks was almost killed by Dr. Gero and attacking future Trunks to fight the Androids and Cell. Vegeta became nicer after future Trunks was killed, but he still wasn't shown to be as caring as Goku

Goku did like.. Die for Gohan and all his friends and family at the beginning of Z to stop Raditz. And was usually needed to stop somebody from.. You know, destroying life as we know it and he died again a few times too.. I probably wouldn't have let Gohan go off to a far away planet like Namek though I will say

Sending Gohan to Namek wasn't a bad idea at all. It was for a good cause and nobody thought there was going to be trouble there

Why would they think the trip would be a walk in the park when Vegeta is still roaming around? He's borderline bad at least. It's clear that Trunks doesn't dislike his dad, heck he looks up to him, but he still lacks necessary parenting skills.

I think its due to the whole thing where Goku showed no emotional reaction to Gohan being allegedly killed by Fat Buu.Dr. Machismo wrote:How is Vegeta a better father than Goku?
