Re: Thoughts on the Saiyan Saga
I think it really set the tone for the entire series introducing new characters, races, giving more detail and aspects of Oozaru transformation, creating unlikely alliances, and the unthinkable - Goku's death! I think it really laid the foundation for all the awesomeness that followed.. My least favourite story arc was everything android until Cell got there to be honest.. I liked the fact that Goku could become seriously from that virus and humbled him a big I expect but it also took away from the story whenever Goku was absent.. Gohan carried it sufficiently in his high school moments but it didn't feel right until we saw Goku back in the thick of it again.

It's great. Third favorite arc though.
Vegeta: "Funny... I seem to recall Kakarot being fed the same information right before he transformed; the distinct look on your faces when he went Super Saiyan didn't exactly inspire confidence. One does not predict or calculate power like ours."

It's the only arc I can rewatch over and over again without getting bored.

Re: Thoughts on the Saiyan Saga
I enjoy the Saiyan Saga. Despite watching the series 100 times over and knowing how everyone turns out by GT's end, it still impacts me watching everyone die. I know they come back, die again, and come back again, but their deaths still hit hard.

I reallly liked this saga,, i`ve started watching DB from 22th Budokai, so it was really sad for me, to see Chaozu and Tenshinhan die after pointless suicide attacks. i almost cried at Piccolo sacrifice (I really love that scene with French dub, i prefer it to Japanese version to be honest) plus of course, we have Vegeta, while he was obviously lying about being most powerful being, he surely was most persistent one, guy survived Kaioken x3 beating, Kaioken x4 Kamehameha, Genki-Dama, was crushed by Oozaru, yet still had power to escape, and not beg Kuririn for mercy.

I think the saiyan saga is a great introduction to goku as well as piccolo's origin. I also like the battle between the z fighers and vegeta/nappa.

Re: Thoughts on the Saiyan Saga
Manga-wise, It's my favorite saga of Dragon Ball Z and second anime-wise (behind the Artificial Human and Imperfect Cell sagas).
The showdown between Goku and Vegeta.... best fight in anime history. Hands down.

Haven't we already gotten these in GT? Goku dies, the DBs go away, and the Namekian DBs most likely won't be used again because of the Evil Dragons.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.
Re: Thoughts on the Saiyan Saga
There are numerous things about the Saiyan Saga that I love.
-I'm a huge Vegeta fan, so of course I love that this is where he is introduced.
-Especially in the anime I love Gohan's training and the relationship that is built between him and Piccolo.
-I really enjoy the fights in this saga because they haven't reached the all ki blast all the time feel of later sagas.
-I enjoy that the human characters haven't been completely pushed off to the sidelines yet.
-Probably my favorite part however is how seamlessly it leads into the Namek Saga. The episodes from the start of the Z era all the way through to the defeat of Freeza flow gloriously.
