Uub and Buu fusion, not that strong in a sense

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Uub and Buu fusion, not that strong in a sense

Post by JAKEMAN » Thu Jun 08, 2006 1:14 pm

This thought came to me when I was watching the last couple of episodes of Dragonball Z. Seeing that Uub was the reincarnation of "Kid" Buu that in GT (Have I just gone into the GT fanboy theories) when Fat Buu fuses with Uub he is infact being powered down to "super" Buu level and in fact losing strength instead of gaining strength.

Of course the answer to this is:

"GT, goodbye logic" to quote Mike from the podcast.

But does anyone else think of this sort of "fusion" between Uub and Buu? Please give your thoughts

How would that be a "power down"?

A lot of people, for some unbeknownst reason, think that Chibi Boo is the mightiest Majin. I'm gonna guess that's where his thought on that came from.

And, because of it, I'm sure another great-big debate will erupt, to which I will most likely take no part in.

I guess they got used to villains who become stronger when they transform...

Kid Buu is weaker than Super Buu. Knowing that, there's no problem with the fusion of Uub and Mr. Buu.

Ok, well I remember Supreme Kai saying that when he absorbed the Dai Kaio he was reduced in power. I guess I was wrong

So then what Buu is the strongest? Kid Buu right?

The quote is 'most evil' or 'most dangerous', not 'most powerful'.

That's where all the confusion comes from.

But to answer the question...Gohan absorbed Boo is the strongest.

How can essentially 2 Buu's fusing end in a power reduction? It was at that point when Uub truly became "complete" and became a super warrior.

Ma-jin Boo, Junsui is not the most powerful Boo; instead, he is the most violent and savage, being unhindered by anything resembling a coinscience. This is why the Chou Genkidama was able to defeat him; I believe the Gohan-absorbed Junsui Aku version would not be defeated by such a move.

That means "pure" in Japanese.
That's how the original Boo is generally called in Japan: "Majin-Boo (Junsui)" ("Majin-Boo (Pure)").

so (and i'm seriously curious), could say...Gohan have beaten kid buu by himself if he were to fight....or perhaps gotenks? Gohan was able to pummell normal super boo, and gotenks was wearing him down before the fusion wore off. It's just hard to believe that kid buu is weaker then super boo. I mean...I will admit that super boo with gohan, gotenks, and piccolo absorbed was definitely stronger then kid buu....but just regular super boo was stronger then kid buu?! It seems like kid buu would be at least at the same level. Can I get some evidence behind this please?

Here's how you should look at it. The type of merging between Majin Boo and Oob is completely different from the way Majin Boo normally did it. I'd say it's more among the lines of being similar to how Namekians merge, rather than how it was done before.

Another thing that should be noticed is that Toei completely wrecked Oob over. They finally give him a time to shine. They give him a new outfit. And what happens? They make him get an ass whooping not only by Baby, but by Super #17 and Yi Xing Long. So much for Toriyama's plans on making him the Earth's next savior.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. If you look at this from a canon perspective for a moment the basis makes no sense. Chibi Goku at SS Level 3 is outstripped by a considerable about against Baby Vegeta, but admittedly is nothing in comparison to his adult powers. Oob is shown to have become much stronger in GT. If you think of where he would be in terms of power, the unnatural merge he made with Boo puts him at minimum equal to the original Boo and at maximum a bit above "Super" Boo. So- logically- Oob should have chewed Baby up and spat him out with a side order of cilantro.

My answer to this is that Toei took canon intentions and statements and threw them out the window for the duration of the fight. In fact, that's my answer to most of the fights in GT.

But Oob threw the fight on purpose. In the last Baby episode(or the one before), it turns out that he allowed himself to be turned into candy and eaten by Baby so that he could attack him from within(shades of Vegetrot...er, Vegetto!). That helped everyone by buying them some valuable time.

Certainly, Oob should've done more in the GT era, but don't go around saying he was inept in the Baby fight, because that isn't what happened.

Yet he was still overpowered while inside of Baby. o_o The point was that while the trick was clever, all it did was buy time rather than actually have much of an impact on Baby by his own power. Trust me, I liked where they were going with Oob. But they did end up making him into a total weakling compared to the major villains and had Goku, once again, take the thrown of being the strongest. :\

I believe in GT's wacky logic, after Oob "fused" with the fat Majin Boo, he became even more powerful than any of Boo's previous incarnations.

Having said that, Oob's aparent weakness against Baby is Toei just setting the stage for Goku's next big entrance and ascension to Super Saiyan 4. To that end, they didn't care that they were creating a "new" super powerful hero just to throw him away a few episodes later, so that Goku would seem even better by comparison.

I don't deny that Oob could've done more, but the point I was getting at is that Oob held up against Baby better than he's (apparently) getting credit for.

As an aside, who exactly are we talking about when referring to "what Toei did" with the series? So many people worked on the series, and as far as I know, there is little in the way of production/development information on GT. For all we know, the writers might've wanted to do more with Oob and the other characters, but got shot down by the producers or something. Just something to consider.
