In the "World Of Dragonball Z" (featured on the Trunks special), the Saiyans were depicted as a "savage bunch who lived in a primitive fashion," who
completely destroyed the Tuffles. Now, to me... that's too much of a stereotypical view. Surely not all Saiyans wanted to be ruthless murderers!

I always like to think that behind the scenes, there was a Romeo and Juliet-style relationship, where a person from the Saiyan and Tuffle race escaped together... away from the conflict and suffering of the war. This explains some "inconsistencies," such as why some Saiyans were shown to have different colour hair:
I'm even gonna go as far as to explain why Vegeta has a slightly brown tinge to his hair. That's right... King Vegeta's wife was part Tuffle!

(assuming all pure Saiyans have black hair

)

I'm going to say that the varying hair colours were just inconsistancies with Toei's animators. As they say, "if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, looks like a duck, then it's probably a duck".

Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

I have to agree with you on this one!
I myself have been having some suspicion of Vegeta being part Tuffle, so just here me out: when King Ki tells Goku the story of the Saiyans and the Tuffles he says that the Saiyans were giants with black hair (more like Nappa), but he says that the Tuffles were small with what we see in the flash back are brown and blonde hair (a perfect description of Vegeta)!!!!
This must mean that the most patriotic Saiyan of all time who never shuts up about them must be part Tuffle!!!!

What a huge bag of speculation.
1) Tuffles don't exist in the Manga.
2) Saiyans with non-black hair were a mistake by Toei.
3) Vegeta's "brown hair" only occurs in a couple games.
Assuming Tuffles even did exist in the Manga in the first place, we wouldn't even know if they are humanoid at all. Flashbacks are extremely rare in the Manga.
Why would a Filler race influence the roots of a Manga character? It wouldn't. It's completely impossible.

Yes but you have to admit Vegeta is unusually small for a Saiyan!

Krillin and Roshi are both unusually small for Humans and you don't see anyone suggesting that they're part dwarf.
And, while this is an interesting concept, it doesn't work even with the filler given (going by Z, at least). The Tuffles were shoooooort people. Like, a foot at the most. Way too small to interbreed with the Saiya-jins.

Oh yeah? Everyone has different tastes.

No wait- that's sick.
Could someone please tell me where that screenshot actually comes from (first post)?

Might of been the bardock special. Or one of vegeta's flashbacks.

Assuming that the screenshot was from the Bardock special...
If anybody is going by the logic that because "Toriyama didn't say so" it isn't true, then that
doesn't apply to the Saiyans with coloured hair... because he integrated that special into the canon storyline (didn't he?). The Saiyan's coloured hair
is canon, damn it!

Okay, so maybe it isn't the Tuffle race that's part of them- but another race maybe?
Oh well. My bubble's been burst by Duo, anyway. Damn you Duo!

I think Toriyama didn't come up with the colours for the anime, thats why there have been so many colour changes hapening trough out the series.

Any time!
Just because Toriyama-sensei somewhat approved Saiyans with non-black hair for an Anime special doesn't mean it applies to
his Manga.
All Saiyans have black hair.

Also true! Toei had to pick colors for characters much of the time because Colored chapters weren't all that common. And even so, sometimes he would show the color of an outfit long after the Anime got to it's first showing. In the Manga, Son Gohan has a green outfit in the battle against Vegeta. Little known fact!
And just because Humans and Saiyans can interbreed doesn't mean tons of other races can do so. They just, coincidentally, had extremely similar biology on the reproductive level.

I dunno where it's from, but it's certainly not from the Bardock special.
It's possible that some Saiyans might've simply dyed their hair. Sounds plausable to me.

That would make sense, I can't believe it hasn't been brought up yet. I just think that Toei wanted to differentiate each Saiya-jin so they don't all look exactly the same. Some people would get lost on who is who. I know it makes more sense if the Saiya-jins, the warrior race, all had the same look because they were a race that thrived on carnage and didn't care so much about looks. Saiya-jins (to me) are much more primitive and would only need to have sexual dimorphism, not individuality between everyone (other then power). It would make sense that every male Saiya-jin had the same hair color (along with every female having the same hair color).

Filler scene from the anime. Can't, for the life of me, remember where. But ya. Somewhere in the Saiya-jin or Namek arcs I think.

The average Tuffle height seems to be 4-5 feet, while most Saiyans stand 6-7. I take pity on any Tuffle woman trying to breed with Nappa or Broli.

Ha, broly wasn't even close to being legal, but nappa might have been a problem.

It's from a flashback scene where Vegeta is remembering his life.
