Trunks is definitly the terror story here, he has seen death to almost everyone on Earth and to his best friend and the only father figure in his life Gohan.

An honorable mention too would be the Gohan of Trunk's time line. I mean what hell to see your dad before you of disease and then your friends Kuririn, Vegeta, Tienshinhan, and Yamcha die. Finally, Piccolo who meant so much to Gohan :( To me that Gohan is one of the Greatest heroes of all DBZ! Sacrificed himself to the androids(cybergs), so Trunks could save everyone else. Future Gohan or Gohan No Muri is a very forgotten, over looked, and underappricated character! I know he is consitered filler but still...

Er, Bardock, future Gohan isn't considered filler. He appears in the anime and manga as well.

Definitely Trunks.
Most people dislike GT. I don't.

As as well as......Bardock. He gets my second vote on most tragic past. I mean being able to see or have a premonition of your planet's demise, as well as your own death before it actually happens is pretty tragic.

Gehhh. Oh well, wasn't expecting anyone to really take me seriously anyway. I just have a tendency to pity the characters in ANY series who always get crapped on :P
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

I've always thought Vegeta had a very sad life. I mean... regardless of his pricky-ness, he;s pretty fucked up.

Gohan also, he's been through so much shit in his life to the point of depression in normal humans. Good job Gohan! Keep at it!
Just remember, everytime something bad is happening to you. Something even worse is happening to someone else.

Yea he has had a hard life but then again Vegeta is a wuss. He can't handle stress at all, I love the guy but honestly hes like the ONLY guy you will see cry in the whole series. You will not find any other guy in the whole series who cries more then him! Go ahead and try! Kids don't count.

Well, what do you expect? After years of torment, I'm not surprised. He's more in touch with reality, unlike the other guys (with their futile attempts at beating Broly). But then again... their persistence won the day.

With that low-class, happy-go-lucky Kakarot continually obstructing his destiny... he should be pissed off. This is shown by the fact that he refused to give Goku his power (during the Broly fight) even though their lives- and the whole universe- was a stake. And it's amazing that he still holds all of his frustration even when he does all that stress-busting training.

Vegeta isn't a wuss because he's realistic, he's a wuss because he fools himself with his ridiculous sense of superiority, and as soon as he realizes that he's not all that he's cracked up to be, he gets depressed as hell about it.
That has very little to do with any kind of tragic past, in fact if anything, it has to do with how he was always pampered and taught to believe that he was the best of the best from a young age. I don't blame him for being upset about getting his ass kicked but considering how the rest of the characters in the series deal with it and to a much greater degree, he's comparitively quite the baby....

I have to say Trunks. Watching the "Trunks story" is so dramatic and I think it is the most violent setting. If you have not seen the "Trunks story", then watch it in japanese first.

Personally, I think Vegeta probably had the hardest life.

Trunks' world was decimated and his family dwindled eventually down to one. Vegeta's world was completely destroyed and his family with it.

Also, Vegeta was under the direct command of the one who took everything away from him. Freeza. And we've all seen how twisted Freeza is.

Who knows how much Freeza abused Vegeta as a poor child. In fact, I kinda think that Freeza abused Vegeta in a more personal way, if you know what I mean. Sure, it's pretty gross to think, but Freeza is just the twisted type of individual to do that kind of thing. We've seen how he loves to induce suffering. Who knows what he'd do to someone who couldn't take much physical torture compared to what Freeza could dish out.

So essentially, I'm saying Vegeta because Freeza is far more sadistic than the Jinzoningen, and he was always there, breathing down Vegeta's neck, who had no escape whatsoever.

I have to say Yamucha. How can he sleep at night with the idea that someone else is with his ex? Rewind that, his KILLER is with his ex. This is also the guy who now must watch as the rest of the fighters get stronger and he stays weaker! He is now just like everybody else and incapable of defending his home! That must be a nightmare. Losing Buruma was just the icing on the cake.

If only there were someone delving into the personal development of Yamcha durring that time. Someone... maybe in a fan comic... well, we can dream, I guess.

Well, has anyone considered Bulma from one of the futures, where Trunks died at the hands of Cell?
