Nope. They just screwed up. Simple as that.

Remember: In most American animation, all successful acts of violence need to either include the person being violent getting defeated within the episode, the story needs to drag directly over to the next episode, or there needs to be some sort of heroic justification.

In this case, it seems they tried to do heroic justification.
