Post by Magica » Sun Jul 30, 2006 12:03 am

I got this in my Prime Animation Report email:
.:The Biggest Baddest Dragon Ball Z Giveaway on Earth!

Enter now for the biggest, baddest Dragon Ball Z Giveaway of all time. 7 lucky grand prize finalists will receive a one-of-a-kind Dragon Ball, a TV, a Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack, a set of ATARI® Video Games, and a trip to participate in a final event showdown to determine who gets the one out-of-this-world grand prize.

Or you could win a Dragon Ball Z Card Game by SCORE® or action figures by Jakks Pacific®!
The contest page: http://www1.dragonballz.com/index.cfm?page=bbdbzcoe

Be warned. The site is REALLY slow. Birthday and address is required, as with most contests.

(If this is disallowed feel free to delete, close, whatever)

Yea, I think everyone knows about this contest. I think it was even mentioned in the last pod cast.

I had already entered before seeing this thread. I do have to say though that this is one of the best contests of any sort that I have ever seen. Wouldn't it be awesome if somebody from this forum won it (or better yet, more than one)?

I entered the contest, too. And damn if that contest doesn't put the cherry on the sundae.

This is so friggin' weird. Here in 2006, the series' American run is long over, and yet FUNimation seems to be plugging it more than ever. . . and I don't think they would be if the series wasn't still reasonably popular, which I wouldn't have imagined would be the case this many years after the fact. Japan, sure; I can understand why DBZ is regaining popularity over in its mother country, but I always thought of us Yankees as being the sort of group who swarms en masse from one fad to the next and never looks back. And hearing some people talk about the show the way they do, you really would have thought its day was done.

Yet here we are. Clearly not all of us have left. FUNimation is still running contests like this big mutha here about every six months, we still get new games every year like clockwork, the VAs still talk about DBZ at conventions despite having moved on to other projects, we had an unexpected not-in-this-lifetime theater release of Movie 12 this past March . . . and of course we're getting these fancy new box sets come next year, which they really don't have to do. And what the hell are these "other announcements" regarding DBZ that FUNi will drop on us in Q1 2007?!

(And if the legends are true, and those new season sets do contain the remastered Dragonbox footage, well . . . that'll just be the end right there. DBZ must still mean something. No way FUNi would dump that kind of cash to borrow those masters from Toei if there wasn't a market for it.)

Well, what can I say? Hooray for Dragonball!

Oh, and I wished that I could pitch ideas and help create the next big DBZ game. Not gonna happen, but still . . .

Wanted to enter so badly. I'm not eligible, since I don't live in the USA. God I hate Funimation sometimes. -_-

Ironically, if that TV is a wide screen plasma, the movie will look like garbage on it anyways.

Only if you manage to set it up using bad cords and stuff, and you find people are stupid and "dont notice flaws with the AWESOME AWEMOSE STEVE SIMMONS SUBBED FULL SCREEN NON CROPPING QUALITY R1 ENCODED GOLDIMATION with SILK SCREEN AND FULL DVD CASE CAPABILITIES USING THE LATEST IN PAPPER PRINTING TECHNOLOGY" anyway.

I won't even bother attempting to enter considering just about all of FUNimation's contests end up including every state but Florida out of the entire US. o_O;

I'm still damning the fact that I couldn't enter the Detective Conan and Fullmetal Alchemist contests. :(

Though the TV and Dragon Ball do sound nice.

For US citizens not currently in the US? I mean, if this were 6 months later, I'd still be a US citizen at the time but I'd be living in Canada.

My wish:

If Shenlong or Porunga really existed I would have 2 or 3 wishes respectively. But seeing as how we are from planet Earth and not from planet Namek, I only have two wishes. So, my first wish would be to grant every Dragon Ball Fans wish of having the new remastered video of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT with 5.1 English audio track, the Mexican Spanish Dub audio and the original Japanese audio with Steven J. Simmons Subtitles in season box sets. (I figure asking for the English dub of Z and GT to include the original Japanese score like in Dragon Ball, may be asking a bit much.) My second wish is a Volkswagen Beetle painted like a dragon ball.

If going on the rules of the planet Namek dragon balls then my third wish would be for Battle Stadium D.O.N. to be released here in the USA.

Well I entered and I just asked to get the entire series (DB throught GT) on DVD...I would've asked for the Dragonboxes had I joined this site before I signed up for the contest, at the time I had no knowledge of the Dragonboxes.

Damn, why didn't I think of that, being the Back to the Future fan that I am... Well I guess since this IS a Dragon Ball contest I made Dragon Ball related wishes. :?
