Anyone know if BoG is getting a European home release any time soon? If so, chances of English subs?

What are the chances of DeAgostini getting the rights of the movie?

Ahh. That is shame. Since the Hong Kong release is region locked, was hoping some European releases would produce English subs like they did.

*Eyes widen at "additional scenes".*

Oh my God yes.

I mean, by the other side of the coin, I already have a copy of the blu-ray, and there being a director's cut with additional scenes means my copy's kinda incomplete now, but oh man if this means I get to see more ssjg Gokû (or hey, just more cut-for-budget/time stuff) I am so in.

What day/time is this airing?

Oh, hell yeah. I hope it's all of the scenes that were storyboarded by deleted. Hopefully we'll get at least one new fight.

I'm sorry.

Whoa, though. The question is what is that time going towards? More gags?

What? What?

Whatwhatwhatwhatwhatwhatwhatwhatwhat?!

This is exciting! Very curious to see what's included in this TV version. Hopefully it's something fairly substantial. I seem to recall hearing that One Piece Movie 8 had an additional 10 or 20 minutes when it was shown on TV or something.

But, why? Why were these not on the special edition of the home release.

Yamada also posted a picture of herself and Genda Tesshou recording.

I'm really looking forward to this. When One Piece: Episode of Alabasta was broadcast on Fuji TV Toei added fifteen minutes of new animation.

If I'm using my daylight savings time correctly, 9pm Saturday Japan time is 8am Sunday East Coast U.S. time?

So it is 8am Sunday for me. There's a higher chance I can swing that than I could've 10am, but it's not 100% certain. I sure hope I can. *Wants to be here live as it happens*. O_O

Okay, STOP.

I need a second to process this.

So we're getting more footage? But all of the home video releases are already out! The film is already being exhibited in foreign markets! Any chances of hyping this on any significant level are long gone. Why now? This seems like an awfully last-minute (and sloppy) thing to do for a film that apparently had a very carefully planned production and distribution strategy.

Okay, so... this kind of thing is common? Did foreign distributors (like FUNimation) get this new animation for their releases of the Alabasta film? I don't want this kind of stuff to just be exclusive to Japanese television airings.

I want to be excited for this but I'm just so damn confused.

The theatrical runtime of Episode of Alabasta is 90 minutes. When Fuji TV aired it as a primetime event the film was given a new fifteen minute opening sequence covering the Whiskey Peak arc, bringing the runtime to about 105 minutes. Luffy versus Zoro was key animated by Tate Naoki. Over the last two years Fuji TV has aired three new One Piece specials. Episode of Nami is 106 minutes, Episode of Luffy is 102 minutes and Episode of Merry is 106 minutes. Episode of Luffy was heavily outsourced, in particular to Madhouse I believe. Matsumoto Norio also provided an uncredited action scene, as we believe. For Episode of Merry, Chief Animation Supervisor Inoue Eisaku was still correcting the animation the day before it aired. The schedule was so bad that the home video release wound up having many re-drawn faces.

Thanks a ton for that background info. Hmm, from what you said, it doesn't sound like the extra Alabasta stuff ended up on any of the home releases anywhere? I find it a tad hard to get excited for extra footage that we might never get to actually own, but I guess we'll just have to wait for more info.

*Wants to see the actual transformation sequence for Goku's 1st ssjg transformation.* @u@ (Because they cut away to a distance shot so all you could see was the before and after in BOG.)
I know chances are low, but I so want to see that. Also more battle. And maybe Bulma's birthday cake.
