Overdrive Fighting (my second amv)
Uh, hello guys. I'm Dark Velocity EX (also known as 'Eclipse' in a few message boards or so) and welcome to my video, Overdrive Fighting!
So what is this video? It's a plotless, Dragon Ball action music video. The reason for this is mostly for self-improvement. You see, after I created the horror that is The Hidden Power (my first music video) two years ago, I wanted to make more music videos, but I knew since I sucked back then, this would be more at an attempt of skill alone (a technical exercise if you will)
This video took around a month to complete. Since I was using Windows Movie Maker, it took me quite a while in order to fix up the editing and make it look good =) The song itself is R U Overdrive, a rearrangement of a certain theme from Street Fighter 2 (try and recognize it!), which was a little difficult to have clips from Dragon Ball matched to it, but all the worthwhile.
Also, while it IS just fighting, I did try to have some sort of relation starting halfway through the movie. For example, there'd be clips of Goku as a kid, then him as a adult fighting Buu, then one of Gohan fighting Buu, then Gogeta fighting Janemba, then him facing off against Broly, then Goku with Broly, then a new one again! It's a bit hard to explain, but it's easy to understand while watching it.
I wanted to point out that while this video does list Dragon Ball Z: Sagas as a source, this does not use any game footage whatsoever. The only footage used was the anime opening.
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy it! And if you guys could comment on my video, that would be much appreciated. The better I get, the more I gurantee you'll enjoy out of my videos!
----------------------------------
For those who watched the two minute beta I posted at YouTube (DaizEX forumgoers, for one), I changed the first bit very slightly. Nothing too drastic, just that it will look a lot better. Enjoy

Well, other than the fact that it goes completely black for me about a minute in, it looks great. I can't really give you any advice that you don't already seem to know and do well.
Great cuts, great tempo-visual matching - there's no plot to criticise (but this is meant only as a technical exercise).
Can't wait to see a finished product

Actually, the fact it goes black in after a minute is my fault. You see, that's all I've done...one minute. And I have no idea how to stop the music at that point, so it's 3 minutes of music >.<desirecampbell wrote:Well, other than the fact that it goes completely black for me about a minute in, it looks great. Hey, cool song. What is it exactly?
Anyway, your technique is pretty good, considering it's your second video. However, I'd just like to say that in the beginning part, some of the hits that the characters take can be synched up better with the strong beats given off in the music. But so far, it's looking pretty good otherwise.

Well, I enjoyed the first one minute.
Very fast-paced, lots o' fancy tricks... when's the finished product gonna be?

R U Overdrive. Forgot who it's done by, but it's a rearranged video game song you probably recognizedSaiyan wrote:Hey, cool song. What is it exactly?

Anyways, thanks for the great suggestions guys! I was really pleased that my video was that good (I didn't think it would be that good.). Just proves to show that WMM can make good AMVs after all (Imagines audience going 'WHAT?!' after saying this')
Anyways, I worked on it quite a bit, and finished the 2:00 mark a few days ago. I reuploaded it on YouTube (Click Me) and a couple of people have the high quality version. But let me say this. A few days ago. Right now I'm at 2:45

Oopsies! It was never deleted at all! I just linked it to the original 1:00 version, which I deleted. Sorry guys about the confusion.
Here is the new version. Sorry once again

How long 'til the finished product?
I especially love the use of intercutting between the Piccolo-Daimao/Hildegarn All-da-way-through Punch!
I cannot wait for the final AMV. *gets giddy*

Very nice, very nice. You have done very well. I loved it. And I was shoked at the quality of the clips. I STILL can't believe that the same clips I downloaded of of DBarena are of less quality.
You are pretty awesome, like the video.

Wow, very good! While the AMV was not without flaws it was still very good! I ecspesially liked the Piccolo-Daimao/Hildegarn punch scene. The music you used fitted your AMV very good but there were sometimes the AMV just kinda stopped so it should maybe have been a little more fast-paced. But as i said: It is still very good! I kinda got the feel i get when I watch "Doomrider" which is a very good thing. Good AMV! Ecspesially considered it was your second. Keep it up!
Very nice, I was particularly fond of the part where it jumps back and forth between Goku killing Hildegarn, and Piccolo-Daimaô. I thought that was pretty cool.
There is no better combination in the world than Dragonball, Cherry Pepsi, and Cheez-Its. It's a proven fact.
