Transformation guide question

In the Sayajin transformation guide it says that Goku is the only person to transform into a Quasi-Super Saiyajin.

But in the Trunks special, it appears that Trunks can do it too. Whne he is training with Gohan, he starts to power up. After a while he has built up a golden aura, only to fall on the ground because he is exausted.

Shouldn't this count as a Quasi-Super Saiyajin?

No. We see Gohan do exactly the same thing in the Room of Spirit and Time while Goku was training him to become a Super Saiyan. It's not a separate kind of transformation, it's just a brief SSj transformation.

One thing I never understood is why is the Japanese title of the movie "Super Saiyajin Son Goku" when it's never even a real SSJ transformation.

Was the movie released at a time in the manga before the true concept of SSJ had been finalised?

Pretty much.

Keep in mind that the phrase "Super Saiya-jin" had been tossed around in the series for a looooooooong time at this point. Movie 4 was Toei playing with the idea of what it might be. Movie 4 came out in March 1991, whereas the chapter were Goku finally goes SSJ for the first time was around the same time, being printed weekly in Jump that same year.
