Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Since Yamamuro is the director now, what is the chance of having Tate take over as the designer and supervisor ?
On related note, is Yamamuro the animation supervisor for the Ultimate Blast opening?

Yamamuro is the credited animation supervisor for the Ultimate Blast animation. If you go back and watch the 2008 special you'll notice that a lot of Tate Naoki's style comes out in a few cuts, although that might just be because he was an assistant animation supervisor.
Damn, now I wish Yokoyama would direct for Dragon Ball.
Something like Idol M@ster is aimed at adult men willing to pay a lot of money for a high-quality work, so it's profitable to use a high number of drawings. The staff brought on also very much love to draw cute girls and dancing, so there is that to consider. Apparently the series director of Idol M@ster, Nigori Atsushi (Goripon) was a huge fan of the series and really, really did his best to make sure the series came out great. Thanks to a great schedule Goripon managed to get all of his highly talented friends to work on episodes of their favorite characters. Hikibi's focus episode was the only one to really take the fall and not come out spectacular. Episode Director Yokoyama Akitoshi's storyboard for IdolM@ster Episode #18 is one of my favorites of all time. It's a genius directing job. I suggest watching the episode, but you can also check out screen captures here to understand just how awesome the layouts are. This is to say nothing of the lovingly drawn characters.KentalSSJ6 wrote: Why is it the dance centered animes get some of the best animation I have ever seen in anything'?

Oh i've seen abunch of gifs of the series on Sakugabooru. Guess it all comes down to loving your work and the material your working on.JulieYBM wrote:Something like Idol M@ster is aimed at adult men willing to pay a lot of money for a high-quality work, so it's profitable to use a high number of drawings. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
So, now that we've got Toriyama's actual full comment on the new movie (thanks Kei!), is it safe to say that the early talk about the movie's story being "one that he had wanted to include during the manga’s serialization" was just a misreport? Because all he actually says there is that he came up with the new story as if it were a continuation of the manga's serialization, which is what he said about the last movie too. He's just talking about imagining that this were back in the olden days and DB is still running in Jump, to help him decide how the new movie's story should be. Nothing about him having actually first had this story idea all those years ago and finally using it for this latest movie. Unless he says that somewhere else?

Sushio is an employee of Studio Trigger, which is busy as it is. In fact, Trigger's first official work was IdolM@ster Episode #17, I believe.

Small world. Ehh, hopefully we can get Kameda and Shikama at least somewhat involved. The movie would only benefit from their handiwork. Or at the very least bring back the animator of Ultimate Tenkaichi opening and Goku VS Beerus fight (who's name escapes me)JulieYBM wrote:Sushio is an employee of Studio Trigger, which is busy as it is. Shida Naotoshi did the cuts of Gokuu flying through the ground and battling Beers as they soar into space. He will probably return, although who knows if he will be able to provide much in the way of key animation considering how busy Toei Animation is and how critical he is to a lot of Toei Animation's TV work.KentalSSJ6 wrote:Goku VS Beerus fight (who's name escapes me)JulieYBM wrote:Sushio is an employee of Studio Trigger, which is busy as it is. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
A little critical-ness would do Toei some good. Its obvious the guy knows what he's doing in terms of DBZ fights as the animation of that particular segment of Goku VS Beerus was downright stunning for something of this franchise. If it means getting more and consistent animation of that quality, I say let him be as critical as a Fire Emblem Assassin with a Killing Edge.JulieYBM wrote:Shida Naotoshi did the cuts of Gokuu flying through the ground and battling Beers as they soar into space. What about the guy who did the SSj Bardock vs Chilled fight? Is it possible to have him work on the new movie? Man, talk about Big Three consists of Tate, Shida , and animator who did SSj Bardock vs Chilled.

Oonishi Ryou is currently the character designer and chief animation supervisor of Majin Bone. He did work on Battle of Gods as an animation supervisor and the key animator for the Super Saiyan God ritual scene. Take note of how the timing for the characters is suddenly very smooth, that is Oonishi's trademark. The waves of water during the transformation is also very much his signature water drawings.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:What about the guy who did the SSj Bardock vs Chilled fight? http://www.kanzenshuu.com/movie/battle-of-gods/ says the first teaser trailer for BOG was at "Saikyō V-Jump Festa on 21 July 2012". Is that the same at all as V-Jump Carnival(?) 2014 they're posting photos of on their twitter account: https://twitter.com/V_Jump and if so, teaser trailer this weekend?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Yes, it was a misinterpretation by someone at ANN. They've since changed their article to better reflect what Toriyama had actually said based on our translation. It hasn't stopped the initial misinterpretation to spread though, unfortunately.Herms wrote:So, now that we've got Toriyama's actual full comment on the new movie (thanks Kei!), is it safe to say that the early talk about the movie's story being "one that he had wanted to include during the manga’s serialization" was just a misreport? You mean "Jump Victory Carnival"? As far as I can tell they're pretty much the same thing, since it appears that "Saikyō V-Jump Festa" is now defunct, but in addition to just Saikyō Jump and V-Jump the "Jump Victory Carnival" also includes Weekly Shōnen Jump. As for a teaser trailer being shown, it is possible, but last time we caught wind of it prior to the event and with it already being over without hearing anything, I'd say we're still gonna have to wait. There is a chance they'll show it next weekend at Osaka, but if they didn't show it in Tokyo this weekend, then I don't think it's gonna happen. But Julian will be attending next weekend, so maybe we'll catch a break.Chuquita wrote:http://www.kanzenshuu.com/movie/battle-of-gods/ says the first teaser trailer for BOG was at "Saikyō V-Jump Festa on 21 July 2012". It is fun looking back at how the promotional stuff for "Battle of Gods" unfolded, which is actually one of the first things I did when this new movie was announced to get an idea of what to expect. So far we're pretty on schedule with how things went down last time. It doesn't seem like it was only a few years ago...

Terible wish? Could that mean that the wish that will be granted will generate a real problem, or just a dumb wish was made?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Well, this could be something like Goku wishing to fight other Gods of Destruction, but it could be part of Toriyama trolling us. It's his master plan. The wish was that of the fans: "bring DBZ back".

I'd say the former. I don't think they'd use 最悪 ("Worst", but more literally "The most evil") if they wanted to imply that someone just makes a really dumb wish.Low Tone G wrote:Terible wish? Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
I wonder who would make this wish..? It's possible that it could be a new movie villain who makes a wish that brings despair.. But we've already had movies about villains who just come to earth for the Dragon Balls.
As well, anyone think that maybe the dragon balls could end up in the hands of a villain from the earlier parts of the series? Some sort of revenge?
I actually see this making sense, it fits real well, because well, it's a wish that feeds Goku's hunger for fighting, and wasn't intended to cause any harm. Though.. Couldn't he just ask Beerus to see the other gods? (Maybe it might be because Beerus is still sleeping though.)Fizzer wrote:Well, this could be something like Goku wishing to fight other Gods of Destruction

Huh. Well what do you know. The things you miss when you lose internet for a few days.
I'm sure someone has said this already, (but I don't have time to read through 20ish pages right now), but good luck Kanzenshuu Staff.

If it was a Toei only movie I would expect something serious and dark like Bardock and Trunks OVA with that tagline.
With Toriyama in it, I don't know. But seems like like it will be more serious than BOG at least and thats a good thing already.

With the movie's release a month farther out compared to last time, I kind of doubt they'll have anything ready to show yet. (Then again, the teaser two years ago didn't have much in the way of footage from the actual movie, so... who knows?)Chuquita wrote:http://www.kanzenshuu.com/movie/battle-of-gods/ says the first teaser trailer for BOG was at "Saikyō V-Jump Festa on 21 July 2012". That being said, they are handing out flyers advertising the film.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Some people assume that it will take place three years after Battle of Gods because Beerus asked to be woken up at that date.
But that's not sure, this specific movie could happen without him, and he could come back in a later movie.
We have no proof, but I'm sure those who would like to see Goten and Trunks growing up would like that.
It's now safe to assume that Shenron will initiate the threat when granting the worst wish ever.
Some people assume that therefore, it is forced to take place at least one year after Battle of Gods.
But I doubt it:
- Shenron can grant two wishes since the Boo saga. If his answer counted as a wish, and he left mid-way because of Beerus' intimidating presence, that makes only six months to wait.
- Shenron can be considered as not having granted any wish: he is pissed off because Goku's questions are not actual wishes. Eventually, he just answered a question, didn't have the glowing eyes with the "that's easy" or "that's tough" comment and the "your wish has been granted" line. He didn't use any wish power, so it's pretty much as if someone had told him "oh no, it's okay, we don't need any wish, you can go" with both wishes still unused, meaning Dragon Balls are not deactivated and the plot could be three days after Battle of Gods for all we know (and no change for the situation: same kids with the same size, same person pregnant, no new pregnancy, etc... even no new designs for the core cast, Toriyama just said "I’m drawing the design illustrations for the new character and such after all".).
So in the end, everything's possible: one week after BOG, six months after BOG, three years after BOG...
We simply can't assume anything yet about where between Battle of Gods and the epilogue this new movie takes place...
And we can't even know if the core cast will have any new design or if - much like the crossover special - they will simply keep it on from Battle of Gods, including size, clothes, etc... with the plot taking place the very next day for all we know (as shown before, Dragon Balls can be gathered in very little time nowadays).
