I liked that scene where Piccolo was holding one of the henchmen and burned his head.

Okay, I will try to be objective here.

The positives of Movie 4:
-Slug's garb is cool looking
-The deaths of the henchmen at the hands of the Z warriors are awesome
-The animation is good
-Fighting at night is very cool

The negatives:

-The plot makes little sense. Why would a namekian want to make the earth a frozen wasteland when he comes from a planet with 3 suns? Also, why have alien henchmen? Namekians can spawn thier own henchement if they so desire. You'd think you'd trust your own offspring more than hired help.

-The fake Super Saiyan thing is just lame

-Big rehash of a a saga we've already seen, moreso than the other movies that rehash. It made sense that Coolor would come to earth after the disapearance of his brother and father. He would only assume the saiyan Freeza fought on Namek would be responsible. Slug coming to earth doesn't even make much sense.

I watch the movie every once in awhile, but it isn't in a normal rotation with other DBZ DVDs that I rewatch on a more regular basis. I admit it isn't the worst movie, but it isn't great either.

I suspect being an EVIL CONQUEROR might merit a ban from one's planet of origin, especially a nice, peaceful one like Namek. Hey, Slug's origins, ostracizement, and rise to powah might make a good fanfiction.

A lot of stuff might make good fanfiction. But it'll probably make terrible fanfiction.

I don't think that Movie 4 is a bad movie at all. It's far from my pick as the worst of the 13; there's actually a lot about it I enjoy, such as the opening scenes with Gohan and Piccolo and the "false" SSJ. But as I once said many moons ago:
In his review of Lord Slug, Li'l Lemmy wrote:Movie 4 has a "new" villain, but not an original plot for that villain; as is the case with most villains directly inspired by characters from the main series, Lord Slug arrives with the intent to conquer/destroy Earth, he picks off the Z gang one by one and his character specialty is to exploit all the Namek cliches we already know, whereas Movie 11's rehashed Broly/Swamp Thing (while undoubtedly lame) is at least overshadowed by a natural, inventive progression of the story that steps outside the usual boundaries of "take over Earth" to feature something non-linear and unexpected with new heroes, solid fighting and spectacular use of secondary characters . . . [and so] if I had to choose between Lord Slug and Bio-Broly-- the two movies with perhaps the worst reputations in all of Dragonball-- for me, myself and I, it's going to be the latter every time.
And there's my shortened opinion with regards to the two movies.

(Wait, I like Movie 11? Yeah, it's true! Hey, I'm not weird. Check Duo's signature!)

The NUMBER ONE Goten fan, and a fucking epic one at that.

Movie 4 struck me as pretty much just "ok". Slug is a rip-off of Piccolo Daimao, but all the movie plots are hack jobs anyhow (not to diss the films or anything, but it's pretty obvious that they're not created with "artisitc intent"). So the only real problem here is that it's more obvious than usual that it's a hack job. The only things I didn't really care for was the whistling and having the Genki Dama save that day for the third movie in a row(even taking the hack job arguement into count, using the GD three times in three movies is just lazy). Plus, the whole "false Super Saiyan" thing was just... odd.

Otherwise, it's not that bad. The animation/art is good, the fights well done, the non-Saiyan characters are useful and somewhat powerful. And hey, it's kinda neat to see Piccolo ripping off his ears.

I wasn't questioning why he left Namek. That makes sense to me. I am questioning why part of his plot on earth was to block out the sun and make it a frozen planet. Why be hospitable to obviously disposable henchmen, when your native environment is a sunny and warm one? THAT is my question.

Movie logic?

Though, didn't they say the wanted to freeze it to transform it into their new spacecraft?

Well I liked it, even it was sort of a rip-off of other sagas. It was one of the last times I actually liked a villain design (medamatcha(sp?) was pretty awesome) and some of the fights were actually inventive. Gokuh didn't even act all stereotypically obnoxious like he does in some of the later movies, like no "insert Gokuh eating scene here" or "insert Gokuh burns his ass scene here" or even "insert really gay with Vegeta scene here." Yup, I was pretty pleased with it. The only thing I really didn't like was the ending song, definitely not as awesome as the others.
