I think this would be a great thing, and I think perhaps, if the transfer gives you a small bonus, it could be a small "thank you" to the buyers of Xenoverse (1)!

If Xenoverse 2 happens... (About Custom Characters)
If Xenoverse 2 gets made, would you want to have the option to transfer characters from Xenoverse (1)?
I think this would be a great thing, and I think perhaps, if the transfer gives you a small bonus, it could be a small "thank you" to the buyers of Xenoverse (1)!

I think that all depends on if the story would be a contuation of the first game (somehow, depending on how XV1 ends) or a completely new story,

Honestly, I don't want that to happen because for people who don't buy or play Xenoverse 1 will be at a huge disadvantage when playing against character who have already reached the max level of stats for their custom character. It kind off, is in a way, a dick move because it punishes the player for skipping the first game in preference of playing the sequel. I've never really been a fan of the whole, "transfer all of you stats and data for the first game to the second" schtick because then it would make the thrill and satisfaction of levelling up and learning new techniques non-existent.

While I can see your point of view, I don't think they ever mean it as such really. If anything, it's the reverse - it's a 'thank you' for a player for having supported the series as it went on. That was why Tenkaichi 3 had the ability to use game modes from 1 and 2 if save data from them was on the same memory card, and I want to say say Budokai 3 had something similar, but I forget what.Lord Beerus wrote:Honestly, I don't want that to happen because for people who don't buy or play Xenoverse 1 will be at a huge disadvantage when playing against character who have already reached the max level of stats for their custom character. And in the case of transferring characters and stats and such, really it would add to a sense of continuity between the games, making it feel like you really were playing the next stage in the same overall experience. It really added to the .hack//SIGN games for PS2. And though it didn't literally transfer data, Buu's Fury emulated this a bit by having the playable characters in the game start off at what the maximum level you could reach in the prior game was.

Seems like it would be definitely possible to, at the very least, get a few bonus items and zeni if you have a save file of the previous game, when you start the new one. The Naruto games have been doing that for a while.
As far as bringing the character over, I don't see why it would be a problem, as long the character still started at level 1 with base states.

They should use the Dragon Ball Online scenario to create an adventure game with a huge Story-Mode and a fighting style "à la" Xenoverse.
I knows it sound crazy, but the creative materiel is already there.
We should definitely visit the Demon Realm and maybe have the Demon Race available for the Custom Characters (as well as Androids).

Body measurements... assuming we don't get it in the first game.

Assuming that the sequel would cover the Movies and Return of F (maybe some more DB/GT) then I'd say so, it'd be a really nice way to do things much like how the Tenkaichi series looked for save games to unlock all characters which you'd used in the previous game(s).

Re: If Xenoverse 2 happens... (About Custom Characters)
This is the most important part to me. If it is supposed t be a literal continuation of Xenoverse and is going to treat your character as if they were the one who helped stop the bad guys last time, then it would be nice to have the transfere as an option so your character can pick up where they left off.Dbzfan94 wrote:I think that all depends on if the story would be a contuation of the first game (somehow, depending on how XV1 ends) or a completely new story,
They could just have your character(s) transfer over with their attacks and clothes if you desire, but reset the stats down to zero for the sake of not being able to plow through the game's story mode or overwhelm other players online immediately.Lord Beerus wrote:Honestly, I don't want that to happen because for people who don't buy or play Xenoverse 1 will be at a huge disadvantage when playing against character who have already reached the max level of stats for their custom character. I don't want a Xenoverse sequel. This game's story is made in a way that all of the battles and characters can be added little by little with DLC. Since the game's story is basically 'missions' here and there, it can work just fine. 'Coolers Invasion', 'Slug's Attack' and things like that. 2-3 missions, 5-6 characters ... that would be awesome and Xenoverse would stay relevant for a long time and be it's own thing.
Kinda like DB Heroes.

That would end up getting super expensive with DLC and start taking more space on my hard drive than I'd like. It'd likely also mean that the only content that would be added would be characters, attacks, stages, etc. A sequel opens us up for advancements to the combat engine as well

Personally, and this kind of surprises me since I'm generally anti-DLC...I'd like a balance. Give us a fair amount of new stuff with DLC, maybe even some beyond what we're getting in these first three waves, but save most of the most major additions/improvements for a sequel. Getting stuff right away via a new game on a disc is a lot simpler than getting it piece by piece by DLC.

Re: If Xenoverse 2 happens... (About Custom Characters)
TOO. FUCKING. SOON!
But if there is one, then yeah, I'd like a power transfer, but only if done right by fighting stronger opponents and the story of Xenoverses 1 ends with a massive cliffhanger. I'd also expect the character creation to be more like the later Soul Calibur series. Having more custom fighting styles, body measurements, voice effects(ghost echos, robotic, tremolo, high/low pitches etc.), and tattoos(just to create more of my character since I have a couple. One on my arm and another on my upper back).
Oh, and to improve on the gameplay mechanics. Dimps does a better job making sequels feel like sequels than Spike

I'd love it. I wouldn't want to be unlocking the same costumes and moves twice and I'd hope a sequel has enough stuff to unlock that it wouldn't be a problem.
I'd be okay if you could only transfer, say, one costume and its moves so you don't start out with too much unlocked.
I don't think it'd be likely, but ideally I'd also like the ability to transfer over a max level character, and in return, have the story mode scaled up to maximum level to provide a challenge. I think that would be an awesome bonus for previous players, and would make you feel like your character has retained all the strength from the previous games.
I don't really like when sequels have a character's power reset.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

It depends, I probably wouldn't want to start out over powered but I guess the option is Atleast interesting. I think we should all technically start from scratch in the event of Xenoverse 2 being released. The climb from the bottom is the best part anyways.

You know it's funny that we want more Dragonball story gameplay when another Time Patrol member in Xenoverse is already fixing the problems in that series. Just thought I would point that out.

Spoiler:
Really, the best parts of Xenoverse's story to me were when things went radically off course. Once they started to go back to the norm, it felt a little too much like the same old grind again, though I'm a little more forgiving of that since that's the whole point, that we're supposed to be fixing things back to that point. Hopefully the stories for a sequel would go a little further with the changes though.

Re: If Xenoverse 2 happens... (About Custom Characters)
It's worth noting that Xenoverse takes place in Age 850, while Dragon Ball Online states that Mira began his conquest of the universe in Age 851 with the destruction of New Namek (ultimately amassing an army called the Time Breakers and conquering Earth in Age 1000). Given XV's surprise ending, I think they're definitely prepping for a sequel, and possibly some DLC, since Towa and Mira are already pretty much rigged to be fully playable.
Personally, I think it might be cool if they let you import your character as a veteran Time Patroller who could have a roll similar to Trunks, and gets added to your roster after beating the game.
Beyond that, I just want improved customization (separate equipment sets and tails for saiyans, androids, more body types, more) and a larger roster. We've still got a ways to before it's on par with BT3's roster.

Re: If Xenoverse 2 happens... (About Custom Characters)
That's a bit backwards. It's true that his first real assault on the main timeline in chronological order was the invasion of New Namek (Bardock's rescue seems more lowkey), but Mira invades ~AGE 1000 first. He eventually gathers forces from the factions already on the planet and then goes nuts all over the rest of the timeline, as his assault on New Namek in AGE 851 specifically includes the new Gero based Jinzoningen amongst the Time Breakers.Amaranth Sparrow wrote:It's worth noting that Xenoverse takes place in Age 850, while Dragon Ball Online states that Mira began his conquest of the universe in Age 851 with the destruction of New Namek (ultimately amassing an army called the Time Breakers and conquering Earth in Age 1000).
The two can probably fit together without too much hassle if they just use the timeline, but if they want to work in the actual background information of DBO from the guidebooks and game itself (which they did touch upon in Xenoverse), the two don't fit together (especially now that the Time Patrol already know who Towa and Mira are). But it wouldn't take more than a few minor tweaks to make it all work, and I seriously hope they move forward in that direction.
Re: If Xenoverse 2 happens... (About Custom Characters)
I just finished the main story. If we're talking about XV's ending - there's a definitely chance for a sequel. I hope that they're already preparing some ideas.
