For this game, I don't think it needs both, but training mode I feel like should have been a standard. Practicing against a low level AI shouldn't be difficult, but it would have been better if we could practice against an opponent on standby. You could test timing of certain things, how much Ki you need to do this, how to chain combos and do that (without the AI vanishing). And then when you're comfortable enough, practice against a strong AI with unlimited health and work your way up as an advanced fighter. That's what I did with RB2... even though the strongest AI... was some bullshit... in training mode anyway.

Either way, not a big deal for me. I've played the beta...TWICE... that was practice mode for me.
And also and's not like Dragon Ball games are these overly complex fighters that even require a training mode. People would get good.

Smash Bros is a perfect example. They had a training mode that I NEVER used and I became really good at that game for all installments. Experience is the best teacher my friends.

Aaand I just realized I was confusing "Training" mode with "Tutorial Mode". :P Still, you could easily play against a dummy AI. Or, if you have one, plug in a second controller.

So as to not over-quote a bunch of things I saw go by -

On there not being a training mode - that does kind of suck, since I usually use those to test out moves and see what all a character can do, so having to use a versus match to do that is a bit of a pain. But definitely not a dealbreaker.

On the opening - if it's the video I saw before, it was a little less than inspiring...

On the idea of making the game for last gen systems as well instead of 'just' the newest systems - as someone who was just able to buy a PS3, bite me. :P Not everyone can afford the latest systems right away, and the PS4 hasn't even been out for a full two years yet. That's hardly a long enough time to start tossing out the PS3 community just yet.

On the demo - there's a demo? Is it just at GameStop, or is it on PSN too?

A practice mode would be nice but I think it's really on the bottom of the list of features I'd want. I can get virtually the same thing by just doing a local match against a second player, with infinite gealth being the only thing lacking. I guess it is a bit harder for those lacking a second controller or something...

Actually, thinking about it, would the Steam version have local multiplayer? Because if not I guess PC gamers are a bit screwed.

I don't see why it wouldn't.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Agreed. This is a great start to a series, and a sequel could be truly amazing. Especially since...

Yeah you're right, a sequel would be great for this game.

I still have a few unanswered questions I haven't found out the answer to yet.

1. Has anyone seen a flat haired CaC go Super Saiyan ? Curious to see if the hair spikes up.

2. What wigs are there and if you transform into Super Saiyan with a wig on what happens ?

3. Can Super Saiyans still use Kaioken so everyone can use the fabled Super Kaioken ?

1. It doesn't. Just a color change, for both SS and SS2.

2. Nothing? Same as if you have Roshi's beard on.

3. I've been told yes, but haven't seen it myself.

Ok pretty dissapointing then :( how can flat hair not go spiky. That just baffles me how a developer could so blatantly disregard source material like that.

Exactly. For myself I thought I'd go with a Planet Namek Gohan, or a Mirai Trunks cut. Since there's no hairstyle change I'll be using a spiky hairstyle.

Are you guys going to play the game subbed with the Japanese voices or the English voices turn on? Most of the time I will normally play the English voices on since I do feel like the acting can be better then it was in the show.

Japanese with subs. Wouldn't have it any other way.

The other voices don't really feel like the characters, to me. It's just a familiarity thing.

In terms of acting do you mean z or kai because for me the last decent acted game was burst limit

I'll be playing it in English by default for the first go around and probably a lot of re-plays, but I'll definitely be switching the audio to Japanese a handful of times too. It's great that the games have become like the home release and give us both audio options.
