Episode #0048! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian recount all the huge, international news from the last week, and give the second half of a two-part "Sparking! NEO" (JP PS2) review. DBZ ABCs, Meri's Top 5 Reasons It Sucks Being Namekian, your e-mails, and a completely new short fan parody round out the episode! Referenced sites:
Whee! Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to
godofchaos for hosting the monumental
*forty-eight* episodes, now.
So there you have it! There's not much else to say about the game, at this point. Let us know what you think.
There's tons of other great material in the episode for all you non-gaming nerds out there. We even ended up creating a short little fan parody clip on the spot! Lots of great stories to be shared, as well.

Sorry to post pre-finishing the episode, but I've still got homework and I wanna get all my thoughts out. So far, I like how you brought back the "Stuff" segment at the beginning of the episode. As I said before, it's a cool way of prying into each of your guys' lives

.
I pretty much skipped over the topic and went straight to Julian and Meri's segments, which were actually better than usual. I always liked how Toriyama remembers Upa and his village in the manga, whereas the rest of the background characters are left to be remembered by the anime guys. And I'll just sum up Meri's Top 5 in one song reference: "It's not Easy Being Green."
Keep up the good work and I'll listen to the rest of the episode on the way to school or something.

Remember Upa and Bora also helped Goku sort of on his way back up Korin tower when he needed to go back after being defeated by King Piccolo.

Oh yeah, Bora chucked Yajirobe and Goku some of the way up

. Also, when Upa is first introduced, his arms aren't really divided into an upper and lower part, but later in the series Toriyama kinda makes it a point to change that.
Also, a side podcast thing, I've found it helpful to re-name each of the episodes for something I liked from that episode once I've downloaded and listened through them on iTunes. It's kinda a hassle if you're using your iPod and have to click a bunch of times to figure out which episode has the topic or whatever you want to listen to, so it helps somewhat. For example, I decided to change the title from "Daizenshuu EX- The Podcast: Episode #0047" to "DaizEX #47 (Nameck Sucks)". Just a suggestion to you other podcast listeners...

Ah ha! I was waiting for Mike's comments about the non-loopin' and repeatin' music! Let's see if the looping American music will be any better.
And that bladder of yours, Mike....less coffee.

Great podcast. EX your Roshi voice is so great. If you ever meet Mr. McFarland you should use it while talking to him. And my MVC2 team: Ryu, Psylocke, and Chun-Li.

Nice podcast as usual.
I can't really say anything about Neo since I haven't played it yet but I think this: It may be shallow, but damn it, it looks fun.
MvC2, Tron and Ken are two of my best characters.
And Julian doesn't do a very good Don Vito impression.

Hmmm, not the best episode....but it was ok.
Meybe it's because i was kinda dissapointed by the review, seeing as the game is shallow, and does not impove that much upon tenkaichi 1.
(especially the whole movie scenario thing, where you just fight one enemy).
Well, here's hoping the DS game turns ou to be great !

Yeah I was also disappointed by Mike, Meri and Julian's comments. I understand where they are coming from. Some things I thought where a little biased and unfair (for example the melee combat looks more in depth to me) but mostly I sympathise. Spike did some excellent things with this game but a lot of things are glaringly sloppy. It is very disappointing considering I have been looking forward to this game a lot since it was announced.
I will still get it considering I have been waiting so long but I doubt I will enjoy it as much as I thought. Really the fighting systems, the Oozaru forms for the Saiyans as well as characters we haven't seen in the 3D games until now, are the only highlights of this game for me. Yet this game seems disappointing... I REALLY hope Spike listens to the fans and takes the time to bring out a decent game for devoted fans in the third installment. I'm afraid though that Mike and co's comments (or similiar comments from anyone) will reach the designer's ears over the pond to the east (aka Japan, the Spike Offices). I personally think Spike needs mre time to develop an in-depth game.
P.S. Seems Super DBZ and Budokai 3 are still going to remain my favorite Dragonball games.
EDIT: Listened to the Namekian Sucks list and I have to say HOW COULD YOU MERI !!!!!! I LOVE the Namekians! Piccolo is my favourite character..... Seriously though it was well made. I liked how you called Sachiorou a "Marlon Brando-isk, decrepid, fat guy" XD. Oh and Julian PLEASE do a fandub. I'm going to start a poll... not that it will force you to do anything but we will vote non the less!!!!
I have to correct you about the "crops" Meri. I don't think they plant them to eat them but rather the Nameks are trying to repair the damage done to there planet all those years ago (ambiguous natural disaster). The "crops" are most likely those trees we saw all over the place or perhaps some other flora. As for not eating... that sucks but I think they can eat because.... well they have teeth. I always thought they could because I saw a clip of Kami eating a fish. I don't know what episode in the anime but maybe it's filler. Whatever... I always assumed they could eat but didn't have to.
Nameks can grow back lost limbs... that comes in "handy"..... I know I pulled a North Kaio didn't I ? What else... no sex. Um I'll give you that one though Julian is right about how they wouldn't know better. Hey no labour giving birth. That's something right !?
Anyway.... NAMEKS RULE *scurries back into his geek hole*

You did it Mike! I'm so proud!
Man, that was quick...
Anyway, nice Podcast. I agree with some, the
Sparking! NEO verdict was kinda harsh, but to each his own.
Well, I never thouhght that Upa would turn out so-- oh my.

Errr.... ummmm.... I wanted to include you Julian because I'm nice.
Once again overall I thought that while the verdict on Sparking! NEO was harsh I have to agree. It seems to me that this was a rushed project that wasen't able to reach it's full potential because of being rushed. I still look forward to playing it but seems that Mike and Meri are right on this one. Let us pray to Kami that the next installment does Dragonball justice.
Julian you are one slick mafiaoso!
Do you want me to wack somebody boss?... Just askin.... that guy over there wearing the rabbit mask might be a snitch.

Actually it's RTL 2 (or II). RTL is a different channel.
Oh and the lyrics for the new German "Dan Dan" version are bullshit.
I will open a new thread with a lot of German GT stuff. Maybe tomorrow.

I agree that from what I've heard and seen, Sparking! NEO seems rushed and medicore, but Budokai 3? Budokai 3 is one of the greatest Dragon Ball games of all time. And it's not one character with a bunch of diffrent skins, every character has diffrent punches, kicks, combos, blocks, and even idle possitions. A lot more effort went into the Budokai series then the Sparking series. Yes Budokai 3 had 2D pictures for cut scenes, but the massive amount of cut scenes in Budokai 3 would of required them to delay the game to get them all in. I guess that makes it rushed, but it's still one hell of a final product. BTW, you can start flying in Budokai 3 at any time, double tap back and up to start flying.

Yep, this guy knows what he's talking about. Budokai 3 was the best dragonball z game ever conceived. A game so good that, people who wern't even fans of the show could pick up ,play and enjoy it big time. Graphics were awesome, as was the in-game music. The day i hear Budokai 4 anounced is the day i....
