Speaking of games, I remembered that I used to listen to everyone, every damn cheat code I would writing it up in a paper to use it later. Especially on PlayStation's Dragon Ball games.

I tried so hard and by many ways to unlock Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta, Gotenks and Golden Oozaru Baby Vegeta on Dragon Ball: Final Bout but nothing worked.

Some ultimates are like that but they're only for the fill-the-meter and fill-the-button-inputs minigames.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I remember my first real experience with the franchise was with the first Shin Budokai game for the PSP. At the time, my English wasn't very good so I thought Gohan was Goku's father.

In Budokai 2 you twirl the sticks as you would for a beam clash. Though to my knowledge, you can't send an ultimate attack right back at an opponent.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Yamcha was Trunks.

It was back in the 90s, when I kept hearing about how this Dragon Ball character named Trunks. All I knew about him was that he was supposed to be cute. So, I decided to figure out which one he was. It was during the fight with Nappa and Vegeta, so way before Trunks actually appeared. So, only knowing that Trunks was the "cute one", I saw Yamcha and decided that he was the best looking of the Z fighters at the time, and therefore he must be Trunks.

I thought Dragon Ball was portuguese because the jokes about our culture.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I remember thinking that Cell looked differently (I mistook Trunks for him) and that his name was shortened from "Proto-Cell". Mind you, this was the Toonami days and the Freeza episodes hadn't arrived yet. But I swear I remember reading Proto-Cell on a website or something. Hmm, must be Darklighter syndrome.
There is no Dragon Ball canon.

OH I can relate to this one a bit, I remember there was an instance in Latin American dub, just before krillin got killed the first time in Original db, where everyone was eating, in the part where they said "Itadakimasu" Roshi said "Lord, Bless these foods" and everyone else said "Amen" So I thought, for a long time, Goku and Co. were Christians XDDDDDD. That was a weird dub choice. tho hahah

I once saw this GT Goku action figure that read, "Son Goku" in the label, and thought that was the actual son of Goku.

I used to purchase bootleg VHS tapes of the Japanese sub when DBZ first started airing in the US. The subtitles contained so many cuss words. I thought that was just how the Japanese script was, and the American dub censored everything. The quality was also pretty bad since they were bootlegs, and it had Kikuchi's soundtrack, so I just thought that's just the way it originally looked and sounded cause the series aired so many year ago in Japan.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Goku's father was a weak warrior, but a great scientist.

(I believed that sometime in the 90s)

Tullece (or whatever his name is) was related to Goku somehow.

King Cold, unlike Freeza, could only transform once and that we see him in the form he's in because he had already done so off-panel.

The Legendary Super Saiyan was Goku in SSJ3 and that SSJ2 wasn't a new form, but rather that Gohan was friggin' strong regular SSJ. (I saw pictures of SSJ3 online long before reading the Boo saga.)

Gotenks was another Saiyan survivor. (This rumor was the first I had ever heard of Gotenks.)

- I thought the Japanese version of Dragon Ball Z anime was a show made for adults while they edit the show for kids in the US. Thank you Anime Labs for letting my 10 year old self back in the early 2000's for thinking that  .

- Before GT came out in the US and before I watch it, I thought GT was going to be a dark mature show for adults. I was told that GT was going to have sex, swearing to the extreme, blood and gore to the max. I was even told that Trunks and Pan have sex early on in GT. Funny how GT end up being the tamest DB show of the three shows that we have.

As a kid, I thought that Goku's power never changed as a child or later as an adult, and he only grew stronger when he grew up from kid to adult, and by transforming...
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

This is most likely true. We're never given any indication that King Cold can transform past the form we see him in, and if he could, he likely would have tried to use it against Trunks.

Yeah you are not alone in that department, I always thought Son Goku was Gohan but all I saw was Goku and that left me really confused lol

SSJ4 Goku had holes in his palms to absorb energy, like the Artificial Humans. I only ever saw this on one fansite like a dozen years ago before GT aired in the UK (wanna say it was DBZGTLegacy). So weird, especially since everything else on that site was pretty much accurate (well, as accurate as your average early-2000s DB site is likely to be).

Buu tricks Gotenks into performing the Fusion dance with him. Heard this from a friend who obviously garbled Buu's whole absorption deal, but I took it at face value until the relevant episodes aired.

You can unlock Gotenks in Final Bout. Spent hours online tracking down every "method" and trying them. Ditto for SSJ4 Goku in the first Budokai game.

Future Trunks reaches SSJ2 somehow, somewhere, in some production or other. This was squarely down to Budokai 2. WTF, Dimps.

I got one.

I have a specific memory of playing in my house, Goku and Spider-Man were teamed up to fight Super Buu. While playing, I was making up the story in my head and thinking about the transformations. I came to the conclusion that when a character powers up with a white aura, that's Saiyan, and then the blonde hair was obviously Super Saiyan, and I had no idea what the red aura was (Kaioken) but figured Spider-Man could probably do it since he's red.
