It looks like Toriyama is putting a lot of effort into this story which is very exciting. I can't wait to see it.Herms wrote:Well, thanks to TheDevilsCorpse's pictures, here's Toriyama's comment:It all came down to deciding on the theme of Freeza’s revival; after all, Freeza’s a character with a strong sense of individuality, which is why even a forgetful guy like me remembered him really well. What’s more, I was also trying to increase the action scenes this time around, so story ideas just kept popping up at a good rate. The only thing that was left was figuring out how to upgrade Freeza once he came back to life. Fortunately, the characters Beerus and Whis (who came from a hint from the scriptwriter of the last film, “Battle of Gods”) were really useful too. By throwing all this together, finishing up the story was much smoother than normal. But it was super tough on all the animators (laughs). If you have a good time watching the film, I’ll cry out of sheer happiness! Kyaah! (an old man’s cry of joy)

So hmmm... is this implying that Beerus and Whis have something to do with how he is able to gain so much strength so fast? Does he train with Whis before Goku and Vegeta do or something?? That can't be.Herms wrote:Well, thanks to TheDevilsCorpse's pictures, here's Toriyama's comment:It all came down to deciding on the theme of Freeza’s revival; after all, Freeza’s a character with a strong sense of individuality, which is why even a forgetful guy like me remembered him really well. It's a bit hard to tell, but I don't think so. I think it's more like "things really clicked into place once I decided on bringing Freeza back and having lots of fights, plus I still had these two relatively new characters that whats-his-face BoG scriptwriter guy helped me create, so putting it all together made finishing the story super easy". But I guess only time will tell for sure.bleed0range wrote:So hmmm... is this implying that Beerus and Whis have something to do with how he is able to gain so much strength so fast? In short, Revival of Freeza is now just a month away, so the May issue of V-Jump has lots of the latest news. Interview with Momoiro Clover Z, Toriyama's comment, Golden Freeza pictures, etc. Freeza used to be emperor of the universe, lost two times to Goku and co., now his obsession with revenge and training have powered-up into a new form on par with the gods.SSJGFrieza wrote:Does anyone know what this says?

Eh, I'm not sure Toriyama would be willing to go that far. He's in 60's now, I don't think he would want to dedicate another 5 years, let alone one year of his time writing a new series. Even if he wants to, it would be time consuming for Toyble to do art with Toriyama's writing. I think it would be best for this type of work to be left up to the the movies.jcogginsa wrote:You know, i wonder if it'd be a good idea to have a new DB manga, with Toriyama writing but Toyble doing the art. So reading through the last so many pages (why does the news always break on Tuesdays when I'm away from the computer for long hours at a time?!), if Toyotaro's manga is believed to be super accurate, we won't be seeing Goten and Trunks because Bulma said they shouldn't tell them about this (shouldn't they...sense things?), Tenshinhan told Yamcha to stay behind with Chaozu, and Majin Boo is sleeping or something...did I miss anything else?

Still amazing that he went to god level in four months just by training.

Err, that's inaccurate. Fat Buu wasn't mindless, just misguided, and Super Buu knew exactly what he was doing and enjoyed every second of it. He's arguably more sadistic than Freeza, if anything. Freeza never ate people. Or killed a guy by force-feeding him liquid. Or killed billions of people by shooting them through their chests for no reason at all.My point was that Buu is just a monster who doesn't necessarily know any better, he is fairly mindless in most of his forms. However Freeza is not and Freeza takes delight in what he does which may make him worse. But you're right! Point taken! They're both pretty bad! I concede!!
Well, I'm glad he got past that little speed bump.Herms wrote:Well, thanks to TheDevilsCorpse's pictures, here's Toriyama's comment:It all came down to deciding on the theme of Freeza’s revival; after all, Freeza’s a character with a strong sense of individuality, which is why even a forgetful guy like me remembered him really well. Was this meant to sound hyperbolic/sarcastic, or is he genuinely that invested in the film?

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Getting hyped up for the movie but when I try to use logic for the plot I get more confused & pissed. Seriously months of training to reach god level? He'll soon surpass Whis if he trains for a year. Also apparently he knew Buu&Beerus(?) existed and their power was far greater than his yet he didn't train. Why was he afraid of SSJ? If training benefited that much then why did mecha freeza get wrecked when he first got to Earth? Or did he not train at all and wanted to face Goku and get killed again. I just don't understand

You didn't miss anything. Lots of people past couple pages arguing about how that isn't a good excuse for Goten and Trunks to sit out. However, the manga might not elaborate on the context as much as the movie will. So, the explanation might be elaborated on. And they of course could be in other scenes outside of the main battle.Gyt Kaliba wrote:So reading through the last so many pages (why does the news always break on Tuesdays when I'm away from the computer for long hours at a time?!), if Toyotaro's manga is believed to be super accurate, we won't be seeing Goten and Trunks because Bulma said they shouldn't tell them about this (shouldn't they...sense things?), Tenshinhan told Yamcha to stay behind with Chaozu, and Majin Boo is sleeping or something...did I miss anything else?
Boo seems to have gone into a deep hibernation that "isn't easy to wake him up from."
Yamcha and Chioutzu seem to also not be coming.
And Gohan lost his Mystic/Ultimate powerup due to not training.

Site's updated with today's blog post translation, featuring Tenshinhan:
Bulma: Hey, Bulma here!
Just 31 days until the premiere!
Today we’ve got Tenshinhan!
Tenshinhan: Long time no see.
Bulma: Hey, where’s Chiaotzu?
Tenshinhan: I left him behind. I’ve got no firsthand experience fighting Freeza, but it seems like this’ll be too dangerous for him, even though he’s been training.
Bulma: That’s probably for the best. Safer to leave him back home, like we did with the rug-rats.
Tenshinhan: We can’t let our guard down; this is an enemy even Vegeta was afraid of (even if that was a long time ago). Not to mention the bastard’s bringing 1,000 soldiers with him…Who would have thought his army still had that many people left in it…?!
Bulma: But if you split it up, each of you can just take on 100, right?
Tenshinhan: I can only hope it will be so easy…But this looks like it’ll be my first big fight in a long time. I’ll show the fruits of my training!
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?
