Wow, I'm completely out of the loop, being in California and not having the kind of cable that lets you watch stuff in advance. :x. I'm pretty surprised about all these cuts I'm hearing about. I mean, there's been so mch questionable stuff being aired on Toonami that to edit Fusion Reborn just seems... like a step backard :(.

And for those that said Goten's voice sounded off, his voice sounds off in the uncut dub, too... I guess his VA took a break between the Buu Saga and this movie....

Let's see... no Gotenks, no Dictator... I'm glad I missed it.

This makes me less than enthusiastic over Movie 13's airing. I probably won;t watch that one either.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I finished watching it a while ago and with this being the first time I caught the dub, I have to say that the FUNi version is just horrible. Goku sounds so calm the whole time and it pisses me off. The script was garbage, the music was out of place, it was just an overall mess. For a while, I was rooting for Janeba so the movie would end. :) Well, thats my review/rant. How did you guys like it?

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

From what it seems, they edited it for time as well. Just came on over here, but not watching it.

If you get a chance, watch the dub on dvd. Mr. Sabat's voice for the Dictator is hilarious.

I'll try to scream as long as him right now. Ahhhhhh!!!...*faints*

But I've got to agree with you, that was one of the most terrific screams done by Schemmel. Heheh, I think I was actually staring at the TV at the time of the screaming, and probably stared at it for a few seconds after. I mean, if all of the dubs were as terrific as that scream, Mike wouldn't even have anything to complain about it on the Podcast.

And the music...is...just...so...techno? Not even that, it's just out of place.

Actually, I heard that Mr. Schemmel actually passed out while doing this scream. But, I could be wrong.

No, he passed out doing a scream as SSJ4 Goku in GT. I'm pretty sure nobody can scream for that long without taking a pause for a breath. The Japanese version has Goku stop screaming and start again a couple times during the scream. And I agree it was a kickass scream in the English dub.

From what Kara Edwards has told me on one occasion or another, there was more-or-less a year's hiatus between the Buu saga episodes and the recordings for the last four DBZ movies (which were recorded all at once). I've always suspected as much, since both Goten and Videl struck me as a little off in Movie 10 to start with; a clear sign that Miss Edwards was just then getting back to work.

But it wasn't because she was out of practice. Apparently, she ended up practicing during her time off in the hopes of improving before the recordings began. It was definitely a transitional period for her, she says. But on the whole I believe she succeeded; I think she's gotten better with making Goten sound more natural and less forced, which is a difficult evolution for women who voice young boy characters.

Heh, just ask Stephanie Nadolny about SSJ2 Gohan.
Tyro wrote:Actually, I heard that Mr. Schemmel actually passed out while doing this scream. But, I could be wrong.
No, I do assume this was the one to which he referred. It's the longest scream he's ever done by far (unless I'm forgetting another). Even the original scream during Goku's first SSJ3 transformation was spliced together in parts, but this one is whole and unbroken right up until the break shot with the Grand Kai . . . and I clock that at over half a minute.

As for the Toonami airing . . . eh. I didn't watch it. I support Toonami and I love the dub, but I'm always nervous about what illogical stuff they'll cut out. And from what people here are saying, I'm glad I missed it.

EDIT:

Really? Maybe that's the one I'm forgetting. Which GT scream was that?

The NUMBER ONE Goten fan, and a fucking epic one at that.

Wow. It sucked big time! I didn't like the edited version at all. It didn't make any sense what so ever. I feel sorry for the kids who were seeing it for the first time. And did anyone else notice that the sound effects were off by a second? And was it me, or did Freeza sound like he was hitting the helium? Yeah, this was one of FUNI's worst dubb jobs.

I timed the SSJ3 scream on my DVD and counting the scene with Dai Kaio (If you listen carefully you can hear the scream in the background) it was 48.51 seconds, give or take about a second. And Lemmy, Schemmel said he passed out doing SSJ4 on the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 Collector's Edition Bonus DVD. Nozawa's scream stops after 10.36 seconds (Give or take a second) about when the camera stops panning down after the scene with Paikuhan, then after a short pause starts again on the closeup on Goku and stops after 8.15 seconds (Give or take a second), Then theres a longer pause until another closeup on Goku and it starts again and stops after about 10.46 seconds (Give of take a second), then there's a pause until a close up on Goku again and it starts and stops again after 5.97 seconds (Give or take a second). The times might be a little off as I'm only human, I can't start at the exact milisecond it starts and end at the exact milisecond it ends. Also, Nozawa's scream goes into a little bit where theres dust(or whatever the hell it is) blocking the viewer from seeing Goku (It stops about when you can see the tip of Goku's SSj3 hair, but Schemmel's stops when the bright light flashes on the closeup of Goku screaming after the scene with Dai Kaio.

Yep. And he said it was ironic as he made fun of Eric Vale for doing the same thing.

If I remember correctly, he thought in his mind that would never happen to him.

Well with the Dictator scenes, I can understand. (And really didn't think they were gonna stay anyway) But why not Romeo and Juliet? They've been goofed on in various cartoons.

Though someone on Toonzone say it may have been because of religious undertones. Which I really don't recall at all..
isn't it Romeo and Juliano?
I'm not too sure. I haven't seen this in JP for about 5 years.

Aw... I completely forgot, and I was working, anyway. Well, I own the DVD, so I don't really care. I might try to catch #13 when it airs... next week, is it?

This was my first time viewing it. I thought the movie itself was pretty decent. I also expected them to drop the Dictator scene althought I didn't know that there was a Romeo and Juliet part.

Although I did find it a bit disappointing that while I waited almost the whole hour waiting for the arrival of Gogeta, he only gets about ten seconds of actual action against Janempa. With all the action of Goku and Vegeta fighting him separately, I was looking for a bit more of a fight.

When it got to the end I was like "WHAT? THEY CUT OUT HITLER FOR DUB ONE PIECE!?!?!"

I mean... it wasn't that bad, dub wise, but man... I thought we were past editing Dragon Ball Z, Cartoon Network... geez.

Sorry to go all anti-dub on you, but his name's Janemba in both the big yellow form and the small purple/red form.

I thought they were trying to go a little French, I guess. "Je'nem pas" (totally, not spelled right).
