Well all anime/manga out there tends to look alike. Same kind of big shiny eyes and weird hair, so I don't feel too bad if my original stuff looks like that, but I do try to use some kind of originality just so people don't go "Why is this a comic about a bunch of DragonBall OC's?"

Here is an example of what I meant. The picture posted here are a few sketches of my original characters that we're drawn sometime ago. Looking at these right now, a dozen of characters and stories come to mind and that bothers me. Is there actually such a thing called original art? There are stories that I've read and when it comes time to explain it to other people, I highlight characters with the mood of other well known characters (oh that guy is the Vegeta character or he's the Link, etc.).(Add comments to non-db pics please ^^)Click here.

Oh cool, the fanworks thread!! Time to plug stuff!! XD

Well, pretty much all my most recent artwork can be found on my DeviantArt page, which includes Dragonball-related stuff as well as all kinds of other crap, but Hell, here's some stuff anyways. XD

These are just from this week:

DB Song Image 1-Unmei no Hi
DB Song Image 2-Mind Power Ki
DB Song Image 3-Hikari no WillPower
(A project I began LAST year, slacked off with before picking it up again in July, got distracted, forgot it again (I do that a LOT ^^; ), and just re-started this week. Still got 7 more of these to go :P)

Son Gokou
(Yes, that is how I spell his name...but for some reason this site is formatted so that when I type "G-o-k-o-u" it's changed to "G-o-k-u" in my finished post...;_; It's driving me MAD!! MAD I TELL YOU!!!!!)

Dragonball Remembrance Wallpaper
(Little DBZ Wallpaper I threw together for the week. Fuuuuuuuuuun. DISCLAIMER-I made the wallpaper, but none of that art belongs to me, it's from AIR!!)

Most of my DB-related stuff, though, comes from my DB Fanfiction "IGNO":

Dragonball IGNO (If GT Never Occurred)

Basically IGNO picks up 3 months or so after Gokou takes off to train Uubu after the 25th Tenka'Ichi Budoukai. Goten and Trunks take the leading role, and (since this IS the Dragon World :P) end up getting sucked into some dangerous situations...trust me when I say I'm not being biased and saying it's quite different than most of the DBZ fics out there ^^;

Either way, a lot of my IGNO art is spoiler-ish (ESPECIALLY about my original character Kanba, though, well, any DB fan with half a mind can put two and two together just by seeing his name ^^; ), so if you've got plans on reading IGNO at all, don't look at any of these unless you don't mind spoilers!!

IGNO Goten Profile
IGNO Trunks Profile
IGNO Vol. 2-Last Time/Characters Page
IGNO Vol. 1-Extras
(I dunno, I just like this picture :P)
IGNO Vol. 3-Back Cover
By The Tail
(This is my original character holding me by the tail...um, yeah, I am a tiger...don't ask XD)
Kanba
(My original character)
Oozaru Kanba
(My original character as an Oozaru)

And some of my favorite TruTen pics (Trunks and Goten as a couple, don't like, don't look, please be mature and avoid the flaming ><). It's all very PG (School Roof is a little PG-13 I guess), don't worry:

TRUTEN-Halloween '06
(I just finished this literally 2 hours before the deadline, November 1st, for a Halloween contest...yeah, this was a hard one. But I like it :P FEAR THE KAMIKAZE GHOSTS!!!!!)
TRUTEN-Sleep
TRUTEN-Bath
TRUTEN-Pillow Fight
TRUTEN-Rain
TRUTEN-School Roof
TruTenHanTenHan Shota Doujin Cover

Dude! Suupaa Gohan 2, your art is friggin adorable!! Sorry, if you don't mean it to be.....but yeah, great job. Even though I'm not into the whole yaoi thing.

It's that time again...
Most of you are already on devart so you know what I've been up to, or not been up to for that matter, but for the few of you who don't....

An attempt at interesting coloring

My commission for Aremke's wife with the main cast from his fan comic "Elsewhere." I'm very proud of this one.

And uh...this is uh....remotely Dragonball related. Some Sand Land fanart.

These two are just some tablet pieces that kind of aren't so good cuz I'm rusty with that thing....

Mr. Announcer!! :D Actually these ones are my favourites of the bunch.

The trio one with the colours is so gutsy, I love how you always fine a way to make an art look amazing with such a simple change! Whenever I see that one I get a strange urge to eat some fruit though o_0.. don't know what's up with that....

Also... *throws self at your feet* HOW!! How do you draw Goku's hair perfectly each time? Is there some kind of formula, because I have to try 3 or 4 times and it still looks like some kind of buzzsaw on his head!

Y'know, it's actually pretty funny, but when I first started out, I had to keep turning the paper upside down to draw Gokuh's hair right. Maybe that would help you out, but I think it's just a matter of drawing it so many times that eventually you fully grasp the proportions and balance of it (that didn't sound nerdy at all!). It really is one of the toughest things about Gokuh.

But it's not yaoi! She explained that to me, and very kindly. Apparently, there's a whole system in place behind this crazy stuff!

We don't have to like it, but I feel much better for actually knowing what's what. Because knowledge is full-bellied ZENKAI power!!

Lol, thanks!! And don't be sorry, that sounded like a compliment to me. :D And yeah, lol, it's OK if you're not into that, I know a lot of people find it a bit, er...taboo...especially when Goten and Trunks are so young, but yeah, that's why I only posted mild stuff anyways. XD

I love your stuff, too, Mr. Announcer, and I think I've favorited some of your work on DA in the past. :D

Lol, well see what I mean now about "Yaoi" being used as a broad term? XD
Y'know, it's actually pretty funny, but when I first started out, I had to keep turning the paper upside down to draw Gokuh's hair right.
Lol, that's pretty funny. I've got a random question, how come when you type "G-o-k-u-h" it stays that way, but when I type "G-o-k-o-u" the board changes it on me? I mean, I know that "G-o-k-o-u" happens to be the least phonetically accurate spelling of the bunch (seeing as how it'd be pronounced "Go Koh" ^^; ), but that's the spelling I learned way back in the day, and it makes me sad that the board won't let me spell it that way ;_;

Um, random rant aside, back to the artwork!! :D

I finished my fourth Song Image ^_^

Oh whoa those character looks interesting! I wouldn't worry about the original thing so much, like creating characters that are just the 'Vegeta' or 'Goku' of your own story. It is just because you are a fan of these things that you can't help but compare. If you showed it to someone who never saw DragonBall or other anime, then they wouldn't see anything wrong with it. There's always a certain formula of characters that makes a story what it is. (ie. Bad guy, good guy, brooding guy, happy girl, hot girl etc)

Totally agreed. At this point, pretty much all Anime is formulatic, and in that sense even the GREATEST series' (DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc) can be seen as cliche in at least SOME aspect. I mean, think of how many Anime and Manga there are out there. And think of that in comparison to how many TOTAL media there is, television, movies, books, etc...EVERYTHING has, in some respect, been "done before". I totally agree with QD-just because your stuff is inspired by other things doesn't mean it's not still original. Every artist is inspired by other works, and it's been that way since the beginning-in that sense, aren't we ALL a little unoriginal? XD

And don't be so hard on yourself, Mr. Piccolo, just keep practicing, you've got a great style going, you just need to develop it some more!! :D

Well, all I can contribute to the forum so far. I used to have so much more art, but it's either lost (since I did most in 2002) or ugly as sin. Anyway, here's one I salvaged, and my newest ones (2005-2006).

Vegeta (2002)
Goku & Chichi, different occupation contest (2005)
Goku & Chichi, end of Dragonball (2005)
Chichi, beach babe contest (2006)

Lol, well I think it's obvious who my favourite character is now...

This might be a stupid question but you except any form of crossover art in your thread, Kaboom. I really don't want to give away what would be in it, but I still have to ask.

LOL, I think her name is slang for breasts, but means Milk. I think she's named Milk in another country's dub, but I'm not sure. *shrug* It won me a nice action figure!

'Chi chi' means 'milk milk' which would be slang for a pair of breasts. That I remember, but I can't spell my own name correctly half the time?

Yeah, well... I've already seen those, so I don't have much to say about them other than what I thought to my self before, "OMGWTF" .

And the Chi-Chi one... I creamed my pants because there was a hole in my pocket, in which there was whipped cream ;). Such detail...

There was one on the Podcast. It was to draw Cyborg T'ao Pai Pai skiing. Only Desiré Campbell submitted an entry. :P
