There was one on the Podcast. It was to draw Cyborg T'ao Pai Pai skiing. Only Desiré Campbell submitted an entry. :P
I was the only one who made a singing dancing "unicorn" video too.

I would be totally up for losing an art contest.

Well it'd be a better theme than that... Maybe draw a character being the Daizex mascot.

Isn't our mascot a piece of sushi in the turtle gi? Someone should draw a picture of the randomness that is this forum. Add Room29, missles flying around, zombie unicorns, etc. That should be the contest.

Actually, I just whipped that up now :P I'd be very happy to participate in an art competition - I just though Veggetto wouldn't :P

Not an art competition. A Tenkaichi Budokai competition! Well . . . all right, maybe we can do both.

Vegeta (2002)
Goku & Chichi, different occupation contest (2005)
Goku & Chichi, end of Dragonball (2005)
Chichi, beach babe contest (2006)

Lol, well I think it's obvious who my favourite character is now...
Oh, wow! Hey there, Glay! Glad to see you on the forums here as well as on dA. Which prompts me to ask... when are you gonna do more of this stuff?! It's freakin' awesome! :D

And by the way, I love your avatar. xDDD

You might say otherwise if I showed you any photos of myself, which won't happen, especially not here on this thread.

OMG... what, have you seen Dokuro on Sheezyart, or something? Or did you just make that up?

Either way, the unicorn thing's cracked me up, especially after seeing it again in a place I least expected it. xD And Vegito looks pretty nifty here. I likes it muchly! :D

SHOULD there be an art contest on this thread? Maybe we should make a separate thread for it so contest pictures don't get confused with everything else posted here? :?

Question to the artists of the forum: Why kind of software (and hardware) do you use? Is it like the standard photoshop stuff? I took a class on computer graphics a few years back and it seemed like great software but that was a long time ago... what would you guys recommend?

Well, I've never been able to afford Photoshop or anything like that, and I do most of my art by hand, anyways. For the past...sheesh, 3 years, I guess, I've mastered the art of doing digital work in MS Paint, because it's free and available on almost every computer. :D MS Paint and a variety of my own screwball techniques with cheap programs that are on all computers, really, MS Paint, Microsoft Photo Editor, and yes, even Microsoft Word.

Finally I've got some good software, though, as of September, and now I pretty much do all my digital stuff in Manga Studio 3.0.

I use Photoshop, the cheapest pen-tablet ever made, a terrible scanner, and HB pencils. That's it.

I hear that OpenCanvas is pretty good (and it's free), and I'm sure you already know about the GIMP.

I recommend using whatever you have handy. No program is going to make or break your art - it's all you. You can make great stuff in PaintBrush :D

Say what? I didn't know openCanvas was free... I even tried downloading it just now and it says I'm using a trial version. :?

Do you know where you can download it for free, or is the trial version just a regular shareware program? o_O?

Oh, I meant that OpenCanvas is available for a trial period. A bit different, I admit.
And I'll say "yes" to the other question, but knowing Mike stance on copyright that's all I can say.

I'm sure this wasn't directed at me, but since I like to whine:

I'm using whatever cheap-ass P.O.S. paint program came with my computer. And I don't have a working scanner, so I have to do everything on this one program with my mouse-- draw, color, whatever. So remember: You are not seeing a true representation of my art. What you are seeing is garbage. I work damn well with a pencil and paper and flat-out suck at THIS . . . because as you can see, SG2 is so much better at it.

I swear to God, I've gotta dig up some of the stuff I did when I had the scanner working. Then again, I suppose my avatar turned out pretty badass for such a limited program . . .[/rant]

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Now, I'm torn between asking for drawing software and hunting for DragonBall merchandise for the holiday... damn it all.
