Is it still possible to get the Dragon Boxes?
I just recently found out about the Dragon Boxes sad to say. I am saving up for the movie box, but I can't find the others anywhere. Is there some place I can look that might still have them somewhere? Even just a lead would be helpful. Thanks.

Yeah, I really just want them as part of my collection. I wish there were subs though. I'm trying to learn Japanese, so one day I might be able to watch them and understand it, lol.Gokuden553 wrote:Just beware of bootleg merchaints who say that subs come with them because Dragon Box DVD's don't come with subs.
DBZ isnt all that hard to understand even with a limited knowledge of Japanese, and it's fairly straightforward, so don't worry.
There are a few other places you can try apart from Ebay. If you're able to decipher Babelfish japanese (I know, I know), or find someone who knows some Japanese, you might be able to get something from the independant sellers on Amazon.co.jp, but generally, they will not ship internationally, or wont have any clue what to charge international customers and quote them the highest number they can think of (One response I got, in a message written in Japanese to them asking if they would ship to australia, yeilded the response "the currency figure at 9999", in English).
Also try a service like Rinkya, which allows you to view Yahoo! japan auctions and purchase through them (as most sellers do not ship outside of Japan, once again) for a nominal fee.
However, no matter which road you go, short of a re-release (which can happen but NEVER RELY ON IT) of the boxes as a whole, you will never get them for cheap. If you're already 'saving up' for the movie box, arguably the cheapest and newest (IE more available stock, relative to time in the market) box, you're going to utterly kill yourself getting one slightly more expensive box (GT) and three boxes which are at the very least two to three times more expensive than the movies.
Consider getting the single releases. If you're that die-hard keen on getting Dragonbox-esque packaging I'm sure you'll find someone to commission a replica-like box, but it still won't be exactly what you're looking for (and it will be expensive, whether you like it or not).
It's good and all to have these sorts of things in your collection so you can, I guess in a sense, stroke your e-penis about it and be safe in the knowledge that you do infact have everything. However, it's not worth it if you're going to put yourself in strenuous financial burden over it.
Also, do you have a credit card? One with a low interest rate/Interest-free period? if you're going to be doing internet shopping for a Dragonbox (let alone five), by the time you save up your money (I wont make any assumptions on your source or ammount of income as it is none of my business) the opportunity to get it in that price range could be gone. Also gone is the worry of how much extra you have to save up for courier fees (expensive), possible rinkya fees (possibly expensive), and whatever else.
That's basically about it in regards to buying a Dragonbox these days. It's very tough to get them since you're several years late, so in all honest, if you want an R2 release, get the singles, because if anything else the art is pretty awesome.

Thanks for the honesty about the boxes. I would be interested in Rinkya though to at least see what I could do. What is the address for it? It is possible for me to buy the boxes, for that fact I'm not just some kid with a minimum wage job or something. It may not be worth it though depending on how much extra would be charged as well. Again, thanks a lot and you definately knocked some sense into me. If I can't get them then I'll be satisfied with the singles.

Actually, I just bought the Movies Box on sale from Amazon Japan for like 40% off. I must say, the quality puts Funi to shame! It was well worth it! Check over there real fast to see how many they have left (I don't think its many).

Eh....lucky you guys >.< Parents don't trust me with a credit card yet, and thus I don't think I'll be able to get the Dragon Boxes for a verry long time. By the time I get the money for it, they'll be gone. Darn.
If anything, being a 5th generation DB fan sucks when it comes to purchasing Dragon Boxes =P </rant>

Yahoo Japan DB DVD auctions and Celga are your best bet for getting Dragonboxes since they always pop up on there.
Beware of the bootlegs and FUNimation discs though.

While I JUST got my Movie Box in yesterday, if they are all selling well, and the singles are selling decently as well, I'd count on everything getting released on the singles from Japan. Unless I see the Boxes at some convention or something, I doubt I'd order from a non-reputable site. I don't wanna get ripped off. But do you really need all the extras? They are cool and all, but just plan on getting the singles (at least that's what I'm counting on). I would be surprised if they didn't all get released.Eclipse wrote:and thus I don't think I'll be able to get the Dragon Boxes for a verry long time. Won't let you have a credit card? Either they are too naive, or they just know you too well

I honestly don't know. I've always been interested by some of the extras (Those commercials and such), although I'd really like to check out that Dragon Book =)ect5150 wrote:While I JUST got my Movie Box in yesterday, if they are all selling well, and the singles are selling decently as well, I'd count on everything getting released on the singles from Japan. Won't let you have a credit card? Either they are too naive, or they just know you too well! In all seriousness, a lot of 'younger folk' screw themselves over for many years with credit cards. I used to have friends that would get open up another credit card account to pay for another one. I think the national US average credit card debt is something like 8 grand. I can understand spending that much for an emergency, but I highly doubt most of those people needed it. People just spend more than they make (savings in the states is actually negative on average).
Eh, I'm 14. Considering I don't have a banking card either, makes sense. Besides, I don't get as much money as most people I know do, I usually get money from my parents at least 6 or 7 times a year. That's why I'm getting a job soon. Hopefully, I'll be able to get $500 so I can purchase the Dragon Box Movies set, but yeah, I'm probably WAY too late for the other ones.
Like I said. Sucks.

How much longer do you think the Movie Box will be around? I really want that other box thats going up on ebay but unfortunately I don't have the money for that right now. It sucks this is all happening around Christmas time where everyone already has got me the gifts they are getting me and all my money is gone because of getting gifts for others. I want to at least get one of them at the very least, and if any the movie one interests me because of the scouters, lol.
How much is the movie box on sale for btw? I don't know the yen conversion.

As long as there's Ebay, time shouldn't be a factor. Money will be, but not time.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

If I knew Japanese it would make things easier. I have no idea what I'm doing on the sites that might have them that are in Japanese. It's really killing me knowing the one is going up on ebay soon and I don't have the money for it right now. I'm just going to save money like crazy so whenever one pops up like that I'm ready to grab it.
