You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

You need a player that plays Region 2 discs. I'm not much for the specifics on that but you probably don't have one.

You just need to get a region-free DVD player. They sell them at this site here:
http://www.jbox.com/DVDPLAYER/

I purchased the second one on that page and it's a really good product. They're a good company and their shipping is very fast.

For some reason, when I did the calculation, I got about $17 bucks per movie. And yeah, it cost me about $250 (give or take $15, I can't remember). But I thought it was too good to pass up.

The $17 or $18 per movie is about what you'd get from Funi anyways (not barring some good sales). If you can swing it, pick it up before its gone!

Also, about the R2 DVD player, you can also just rip it to your hard drive and remove the region flags and play it from the hard drive. Or, DVD drives sell for about $20 and if you play those discs in it, it will set it to R2 (watch it though, mine claims you have 4 or 5 times to alter it, then its locked in. I have two drives. One I made R1 and the other R2).

As far as the extras, yeah the scouter is neat (even though its still in the box), but I can't read Japanese, those the book doesn't do much for me. It seems to be general info on the movies themselves. And I've seen all the pics in the book elsewhere in terms of character design stuff.

All in all, if i had to do it again, I'd put the money down even faster.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Regarding region free/region 2 DVD players, ceritan DVD players have codes, which when entered into the DVD player, reset it to factory settings, or change it to region 0, or whatever.

Basically, look the brand, model number on the back) and region code up on google and you should get instructions on this all.

Movies Dragonbox, just to add, is a good idea if you want to own a Dragonbox but I cannot stress hard enough how much of a waste of time it is to collect all dragonboxes. You have your taste of DB and DBZ in the movies box so that should count for something.

Yeah, it was $17 and change, so I just called it $18 for simplicity's sake.

Today, possibly. The chances of single releases of nearly all the DragonBox contents is pretty much a given, so the only real advantage of the boxes would be the compact presentation and the bonuses (booklets, figures, etc.). Back when they first came out though, not so much of a waste of time. After setting up my Amazon.co.jp account, it took about 3 minutes to order each one. 3 minutes times 5 boxes equals 15 minutes collecting all the DragonBoxes ;p

As for DVD players, may I suggest Oppo Digital?

I own the OPDV971H, and have for over a year. It's a nice player, though I'd only recommend it to those with DVI/HDMI inputs on their TV's. Otherwise, you should probably get the DV-970HD.
