^Yes, that is one of the better post in the thread, or a "sum of all opinions" type thing.

The only thing we know for sure is that Fox did buy the rights to the movie and that “They feel that this project will not end with one movie, but will become a major, multi-picture franchise like Star Wars.” That’s about it. Fox has not said anything else really on it but they have also never said it won’t be made. If you look at other movies over the years some of them took decades to get made so it might be a few more years or maybe 10 more years but I do think the movie will happen at some point in time.

Now for info on other live action animes that are being made. Since I do believe that someone said that there aren’t any others being worked on right now and the best one to look at is Evangelion. Not true though I thought I point out several that will be coming to theaters in the next few years.

Blood: The Last Vampire is scheduled to start shooting in January 2007, and a worldwide theatrical release is expected in spring 2008.

Speed Race has been given a green light and is expected to be in theaters in 2008. Also on Speed Racer the Wachowski Brothers are the directors of it.

Lupin III’s screenplay is being written right now by Producer Gerard Molen.

James Cameron is working on a Battle Angel movie.

The Transformers Movie is based on an Anime so yes it will be the first Live Action Anime made in the US. It will be in theaters on 07/04/2007.

Live Action Blood: The Last Vampire (11/04/2006)

Production I.G has announced that Blood the Last Vampire will be getting a Live Action adaptation. The company that will be making it is French Pathe. Pathe will spend 20 million Euro ($25 million US) on the production of the film. Shooting is scheduled to start in January 2007, and a worldwide theatrical release is expected in Spring 2008.

Pathe is the largest independent film studio in France. They produce, distribute, and manage their movie licenses. The movie will be produced by Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Hero) and directed by Ronny Yu (Freddy vs. Jason, Bride of Chucky). Ji-hyun Jun will star as the lead Saya.

Speed Racer Gets Green Light!!! (11/01/2006)

Producer Joel Silver has come out and said that the long anticipated Speed Racer Live Action Anime has been given a green light and is expected to be released theatrically in Summer, 2008.

The Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix trilogy) have written a script and they will direct the movie. Filming is expected to begin in summer 2007. The special effects supervisor John Gaeta, the man that won an Oscar for his work on the Matrix movies, will again work with the Wachowski Brothers on this live action anime.

The movie will be geared towards all audiences according to Joel Silver, who also worked with the Wachowski Brothers on the Matrix. “They wanted to do something that could appeal to everybody.” The Wachowski Brothers were at first hesitant to take on the Speed Racer live action anime until they could come up with a way to bring something original to the movie. “They are approaching these racing scenes in a way you’ve never seen before,” said Silver.

As stated before on Live Action Anime Vince Vaughn is still signed up to play Racer X in the Wachowski version of the Speed Racer live action anime.

Lupin III Live Action Movie Still Coming (9/14/2006)

Producer Gerard Molen is still planning to work on a Live Action Lupin III movie with his White Light Entertainment Studio. It has also been mentioned that he is writing a screenplay for the film.

I'd like to see Hollywood's take on DBZ. It probably wouldn't be very good and different, but it's better than not having one I say.

Actually they have.

Just a few posts back there's a confirmation that they have no intrest in making it.
Since I do believe that someone said that there aren’t any others being worked on right now
No, I said that all the ones that were announced around the same time as the DBZ movie (AKIRA, Ghost In The Shell, Ninja Scroll, Evangelion) never got off the ground.
James Cameron is working on a Battle Angel movie.
That movie has been delayed like 3 times by this point, and Cameron still has to do two entire movies before he can actually begin shooting, so if it does end up coming out it won't be out till like 2010.
The Transformers Movie is based on an Anime
Transformers was an American produced cartoon that was animated by a Japanese studio, just as Thundercats was, thus it doesn't count as an anime, its just an American cartoon, that people often mistake as a anime (just like Thundercats)

Further confussing the issue is the fact that the Japanese got a few extra series. We got (what is now referred to as) Generation 1, Beast Wars (yay Canada!), Beast Machines (booo Canada), and Armada? or Energon? I don't know - I stopped watching after Beast Machines.

But between G1 and Beasties, there were a few animated series that were written, produced, and aired only in Japan.

*The more you know...*

Thank you, TAS, for pointing out that Transformers is NOT an anime. That always bugs me when people say that it is.

But in the end, Japan never got Season 1 of Beast Wars, so we win. Because Beast Wars really is the best Transformers Series ever. Just see the episode "Code of Hero" and you will eat all objections.

Quoted for truth.

You're not getting it.

They have already given a lot of money to have the movie rights and the domain.
Even if they currently have no serious intention of making the movie , they still have some responsibilities regarding licence, copyrights, etc.

The website is their property, and they cannot let anyone take it simply because it might be used against them, some people might pretend it's still a Fox website and write BS on it in the name of Fox.

Well, you can imagine all the juridic troubles it might cause if anyone could obtain a domain name previously owned by Fox, about a movie licence currently owned by Fox.

Face the facts. They are in what you quoted. The domain name has been acquired in 2002. It has been 5 years now, and there has never been any update ! There's not even a proper website. Do you seriously believe this domain name means anything, now ?
For 5 years, people have been saying "look, the domain name has been renewed, this means the movie will be announced soon"...And what happened ? Nothing.

No need to apologize. There are many fans that would like to see it. Whether or not it will actually happen and how it would be presented has yet to be seen.
