Uh, no. If the sales tank, Funi will just stop doing anything with DBZ. They won't release anything any cheaper, and us non-Japanese speaking folk will have to settle for the uber expensive 4 episode dvds. They won't learn anything. They're a business, they want to make money.. if they don't make money with something, they'll stop doing it. Don't really see you're logic with that post..
And I don't see the logic in yours. Your post assumes Funi won't know
why sales have stopped. If sales dropped significantly, they might actually start listening to the loyal/long-standing customers (I think we can agree we are all outnumbered by the "nine-year-old-a-minute" customers?). Then they could offer an alternative that we would buy.
This really has nothing to do with price either. I've never heard anyone here claim the new box sets were too expensive. They don't really need to offer anything cheaper.
And to nitpick, the DragonBox singles has 6 episodes per disc. Also, they aren't really that expensive compared to what most of us paid for FUNIs disc. I seem to remember FUNIs discs selling for about $25 when they were first released (correct me if I'm wrong please)? And you got 3 episodes. The Dragon Box singles sell for 3990 yen, which currently translates into $33.79 (

So, do some math: FUNI discs cost
$8.33 per episode, DragonBox singles cost
$5.63 per episode. At least that's what it was when the discs first came out (hell, the UUE were just canceled a year ago at these prices, correct?) Hell, I order the singles on pre-order at 25% off, so its roughly $4.22 per episode. Not quite the $1.66 per episode the FUNI box sets are currently offering, but still better than what FUNI used to offer. So, looking at the above, if you bought the series mostly with the FUNI singles, then the only reason you wouldn't buy the DBox singles is the lack of subtitles (which I personally can add them myself, but I can see it being a huge factor in not purchasing them) or you already own a bunch and don't see the need to duplicate episodes, or all versions were too expensive for you (with the saving grace that maybe the new box sets are affordable for you). Otherwise, I don't view the sets to be particularly expensive, although it is harder to find good deals on them like you could when FUNIs singles first came out.
