Bruce isnt that bad when he trys. Vegetto Ex did prefer Shuki Levy over Bruce on the English side of things. Also does anyone know if Shuki Levy was the guy who scored the old mega man cartoon, because it sounds very much like DBZ season 1&2 and not just because Ian Corlett.

Because Funimation is the scum of the earth and has no appreciation for good music. Plus they wanted to be able to collect royalties for every second it was played.

I think FUNimation was just trying for something more modern becuase they were afraid the little kiddies wouldn't like the orchestrated music going on about all the HARDCORE action!! yeah!!! *gets his motorcycle & rock music ready*.......(ok that was bad). I did like Falcouner's music back then, when I was unaware of the original. It was a good run & that's it.

No, I am a relentless defender of Japanese DragonballZ who refuses to forgive Funimation for raping DragonballZ and considers them the worst dubbing company in existance.

....Oh dear. Dude, just let it go. There's nothing to defend. No one posted an ignorant, arrogant half-assed post about how the original music, then I can understand your stubborness. The purpose of this topic was to answer why the Dragon Ball Z original BGM was replaced with Falcouner's more modern music, in which was answered, about a page or so back by VegettoEX himself. We have the uncut DVDs provided by FUNimation with Daimao's excellent subtitles, alongside the first season DVDs which most notably will have the option to change the music with the dub. FUNi's doing all they can & right now, they're an excellent dubbing company (even though I don't buy their merchandise beyond Dragon Ball).

He's never seen FMA or YYH I think. The latter of which, many guys I know prefer the dub to the original.

I just hope his music isn't replaced for the upcoming DVD releases. If they want to re-write the scripts for the Frieza saga onward, be my guest. But I will NOT buy these sets if Bruce Faulconer's music is taken away.

The soundtrack for the original release of Legacy of Goku II wasn't bad; actually it was pretty good and that was by Falcouner. Are Falcouner's tracks automatically bad because its not the original or because "it suckkkks and its ghey"?

Eh, for me it would be the simple fact that music (in the context of cinema or television) is an integral part of establishing the feel of a given scene. By altering the music (along with the dialogue), you drastically change a scene's intended feel. Also, Falconer composed his scores with a...somewhat strange opinion of the characters (i.e. "Goku is this rock n' roll guy", etc).

I guess the easiest way to put it would be that Falconer's scores may work as musical pieces by themselves (though I personally can't say I'm impressed with his compositions, some have a hook but most seem to be forgettable and designed simply to eliminate silence), but they don't work for DragonBall Z. It seems kind of insulting to replace the original score simply because Gen Fukunaga wanted to appeal to the ADHD youngsters who would view the original compositions as 'the GHEY'.

C'mon Corey, their original DragonBall dub and DVD treatment is fantastic when comparing it to DBZ's situation. I mean, have you even given the original DB DVDs of FUNi's a chance? Don't knock what you haven't tried. And regarding GT, the entire series and its special is already out on 100% Uncut affordable box-sets (the first of the four being a starter-set, but oh well) and really the only complaints warranted from fellas such as yourself about those are comparing it to the Dragonbox. "Oh noez, ain't the exact same color scheme, I see some grain there and there, yadda yadda yadda" Really the only thing wrong with FUNi's treatment of that series is its dub.

Now DBZ...point taken.
