The Dragon Boxes are out of print, but the single DVDs are readily available from sites such as YesAsia.com, CDJapan.co.jp and Amazon.co.jp. If you expect to be able to just walk into a store in America and find them, which will never happen, then your above statement is a bit of a meaningless one

I agree that he's acting rather... ridiculous, claiming that it's impossible for him to get the Japanese DVDs when they're easily available online at a number of import retailers, and never wanting to buy the Funimation DVDs despite them containing perfectly accurate Japanese subtitles. Also that he thinks he should be given the episodes because he can't afford them... And that's, uh, not how capitalism works.

But still, come on guys... He's not asking for full episodes or anything. He's asking for a few clips that would last one minute at most. If you consider that illegal, then I'm surprised you don't consider AMVs to be illegal or anything.

Sorry though, I don't really have the episodes containing those clips (although I have movie 4... somewhere), and even if I did, I'd have no clue how to rip the bits of footage you want.

I agree with Swift on one thing, Aaron: it seems like you're just asking for handouts. There are very few people on here who would be willing to just give you these clips, especially with the way you've been acting. (Initial post was okay, but as soon as someone said something you didn't want to hear, you really jumped off the deep end.)

Look, a lot of people who dislike the dub have probably purchased a DVD or two of it in the past, even if all they were intending to do with it is to make fun of it--you're not a hypocrite if you get it to study it. Besides, by boycotting the FUNi DVDs, you're probably missing out on a LOT of comic material you could use for your DBZ Dub Hell videos. I'm serious, man, you're denying yourself! D:

If you so DESPERATELY want these clips, you should at least give bringing home a FUNi DVD a try. You don't even have to actually BUY the thing; you could borrow it from someone, or you could just rent it from a place like Blockbuster or Hollywood Video like SatoSky already suggested (and trust me, while they're not exactly an anime fan's paradise, they DO stock quite a few of these--you might be able to find what it is you're looking for). Hell, if you don't want to bother paying 25 bucks for it, you can probably find legal copies for sale cheapo on places like eBay. (Who the hell buys DVDs for $25 anyway? Where do you look, F.Y.E.? Wal-Mart not good enough for you?)

I think your problem with this is not so much that it costs so much to just buy your material--as I know there are plenty of other ways you can purchase this stuff while sparing your bank account some pain--as it is that you just have this deep-seated, unreasonable, seething hatred for all things FUNi. I know you really dislike what they've done with DBZ, but look, they're not goddamned Nazis, okay? If you really want to troll their work, at least do so semi-legally if you don't feel like humoring the company with a direct purchase.

Here's the deal, it's your right, in a capitalist society, to refrain from purchasing anything you don't think is worth the money you would be charged. That's your right. You don't have to give any reason beyond "They aren't worth the money". You don't think paying 20 bucks for three episodes is a good price? Fine. I agree with you there. I don't want to pay more than two dollars an episode, some may I'm too cheap, but it's my right, and theirs, to decide how much a product is "worth", and whether or not to get it.

Further, just to let you know where I'm coming from, I (and others on this very forum) believe in, and practice, the free and easy distribution of all information. Or, in less grandiose terms: file sharing. I'm not talking about unlicensed fansubs (I'm sure almost everyone here believes in those), I'm talking about the idea that anything can, and should be available to anyone who wants it. Including full rips of Funimation DVDs. Again, to make this clear, I do not believe that downloading the clips you want is immoral.

But - and here's the important part - you're an idiot. You are trying to defend your decision to not buy the DVDs by making ludicrous statements. Like "Funimation is evil" and "they destroy their product.",well no, they're actually one of the (if not the) best English distributor of anime in the world and their Dragon Ball releases (while not their best) have gotten continuously better. You say "the discs are way too expensive", that's fine - but we do have those new boxsets comming out for less than a dollar per episode, and that three-movie pack is 5 bucks a movie. If that's still too expensive, well, then what would you like to pay per episode then? I can't think the price will get any lower than that. You say "you're a poor college student", well, most of us are too. You say "I will never, ever buy anything from any dub company ever." Why? There are plenty of other English distributors that do fine jobs with their dual-language home releases. In fact, Funimation is probably the best of the bunch. You don't have to watch the dubs - but then again, most dubs nowadays aren't bad at all. Have you watched the FMA dub? It's spectacular! (well, except for Ed's voice... ugh). You say you're "an old school anime fan who doesn't want to support lop jobs and censorship." All the DVDs are completely uncut. They have been for years. "I do consider being lazy enough to ignore Japanese cultural references to be a form of censorship." Again, you're wrong. Censorship is when you remove information because it is offensive to someone. Regardless, Daimao and Tomato's subs keep in everything, even that word-game Gohan plays. "I'm willing to stand for what is right, that does not make me ignorant." You're right. The bottom line here is that it sounds like you're demanding the clips, when you should really just be asking (well, you shouldn't really even be asking here, EX's made it clear he doesn't condone this sort of thing). Okay, this thread honestly isn’t serving any sort of purpose. aarondirebear, I hope by now that you know you aren’t going to get what you want from anybody here. The reason is how you talk to people who are actually trying to give you advice on getting what you want. People can be nice enough to give you the clips but it doesn’t mean they have to. You’re approach has been…immature and pointless. You don’t like FUNimation and Daimou’s translations, fine. Whatever, but don’t go and repeat it everytime someone mentions anything and I mean anything to do with DVDs, subtitles, translations, or anything of that nature. I honestly hope you are:

I really didn’t want post again but I just wanted to let know how tired your anti-FUNi rant is. As for the webmasters, could you please lock this? Only thing this will do is spark a “A Reply to _____ from my request a clip thread”. If someone is willing to give aarondirebear the clips, please feel free to do so by PM or email or something. I happen to have some of the clips you are looking for but I don’t know how to rip them and they are from FUNi disks so I honestly cannot help you.
