Well, in the current Viz editions (as well as the original Japanese editions), the color chapters appear as sepia-toned. This can sometimes make the pictures sort of blurry or too dark in places to make out certain details, and I'd say these sepia-toned chapters do look much better in their original colored form. But yeah, the originally black-and-white chapters look fine as they are.TheGreatness25 wrote:Still saying it would look better without color.
People here aren't judging a book by its cover, they're judging the cover as a cover. I don't see anyone saying that they aren't going to buy these solely because of the cover. Rather, most people are saying that the presence or lack of censorship is what will decide thier choice.Super Sonic wrote:Many people care more about what's on the outside of something rather than the inside. I actually kind of like the covers myself, though they do seem a little plain.

They haven't been released yet.Ultimate DBZ wrote:I asked a question. Does anybody already own these so they can tell me how the colors look from the inside?

But thats Japanese DVD stores. The only Japanese Book store carrying the kanzenban is Amazon Japan (http://amazon.co.jp)! And w/ Amazon Japan, not only can you not transfer the yen into cash, but it also dosen't even ship in my location, New York! Does it even ship in the states? I don't think so.SatoSky wrote:Online stores have the magical ability to transform US Dollars into Yen. The age we live in.

Uh, I live in the US, and I've bought books from Amazon Japan quite a few times. Not only do they ship here, but they absolutely can charge a foreign credit card in yen.
If you're trying to buy from a seller and not from Amazon Japan itself, then maybe that seller won't ship internationally. But payment still wouldn't matter in that case, since you pay Amazon, and then Amazon pays the seller.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Not sure if this has been brought up yet or not, but when these are all done and released, what ending do you guys think Viz will include; the original one, or Toriyama's "director's cut" ending that the Kanzenban had? I'm hopeful for the latter, but prepared for the former.
Advertising a "brand-new" alternate ending would be a great way to pull in sales and double-dippers, and since Viz has aquired some of the Kanzenban's coverart for poster use and whatnot, it's obvious they know the releases exist. On the other hand, if Viz had actually bothered to get the Kanzenban versions of their manga, then we'd have gotten more colored pages for Kenshin's VizBig release, so it's unlikely that they have the new ending.
I really don't know. What do you guys think?

I think it will have to same old ending. Why put that ending in the Big version? In their eyes, that would be a waste. They could do a Kanzenban release, and then market it with "An All New Alternate Ending!!!!".

No, we're judging a cover by its cover. Not the entire book.Super Sonic wrote:Many people care more about what's on the outside of something rather than the inside. Hence, they literally judge a book by its cover.
Oh, and for those who are wondering why people find the covers bad, they're kind of a letdown. They're not bad covers in themselves, but when VIZ was touting stuff about new artwork and whatever, you'd think that they might use new artwork. Instead, we're just getting artwork that hasn't been used for a DB/DBZ cover in about eight years. That's not really new.
So, yeah. It's a letdown.

Apart from them looking extremely bland, I also think that the Dragonball-cover fails for featuring that image of Goku that's on the back of all 42 norwegian manga-volumes. Of course, this is totally unrelated to Viz, but still... Ah well, not like I have a reason to buy them anyway. I'm quite happy with my badly translated yet uncensored norwegian version.
