After watching the majority of the Cell Games on this set, I have to say: Even though I'm not a huge fan of the dub at certain points, the 5.1 ENG w/ JPN music track sounds really sharp from what I've listened to.

The Japanese music is loud, clean, and mixed perfectly with the sound effects and voices. This is an improvement over the Season 1 & 2, which supposedly had the Japanese music mixed too low. And Dameon Clarke's Perfect Cell voice (along w/ Norio Wakamoto's) for the win...

Yes, Unmei no Hi (Gohan's SSJ2 transformation) is missing from this track, and it really sucks. I'd rather listen to Faulconer's SNES-reject music than silence during that scene...

Oh yeah, and the video quality is perhaps the best of the Season Sets so far. Perfect? No, far from it. But much better than ghost-faced Gohan, foaming Nappa, and bukkake Vegeta. At least there's no macro-blocking from Hell like the original FUNi DVDs.

Also, there's a cool pic of SSJ Gohan on the inside cover of the Season Six booklet. And I have to ask... What didn't FUNi just use that picture for the coverart? Seriously... Super. Saiyan. Gohan. It was perfect. Oh well, whatever...

Overall, it's worth the money. If you haven't seen all of the Cell Games (especially the Japanese version), then by all means, this is the best value for your money. At least until FUNimation's super-deluxe-remastered-ultra-awesome-definitive-shit-and-cum-in-your-pants-Blu-ray release...
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Let's just thank God that this release has been done with better care than Seasons 1 & 2, or else we'd probably be getting something like this:

Image
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Just for fun, I have been watching the Dub with Japanese Music, with the Japanese Subtitles on, and you know what, I was surprised at how "accurate" the dub script was. Not that it was word for word, but it was actually pretty close on most lines, at least getting the point of the original line across. The only people whose lines seem to deviate a lot are Krillin and Gohan. I guess because Krillin is supposed to be the "comic relief" or something, but Gohan, I don't get. Anyway, the point is that the dub script really isn't all that bad, and i have also done this with some Buu saga stuff and it was also decently accurate.
Not that I am defending the dub, but I got to say people take the few lines that are dramatically off, and make a big stink about them, and ignore the fact that a majority of the script really isn't all that off.

While I don't watch the dub anymore (only time I watch it was when it was aired)... people have to understand FUNI ruined themselves with the "brilliant scientist" lines and the such way back when

Can't most of those ridiculous lines be blamed on Saban though?

I was really disappointed on what Saban did back then. I'm really glad they fixed it all up in Season One by taking away or replacing:

"Look I can see their parachutes!" (What parachutes?)
"You just wait until it grows back!" (Is Tien a different breed of namekians?)
"It's over 9000!!!!" (So glad that was gone)
and of course the talk about Bardock being a brilliant scientist and creating the moon ball.

I just wish that the sentence where Bulma says to Vegeta that she has known Goku since he was 5 was fixed because he was actually 12. Or was that the true line?

EDIT: On-topic: I also noticed that the packaging on Season Six does not have the FUNimation logo on the bottom right as the first five. Was this meant to happen or was it just an error? Because that is odd.

I am pretty sure the ever so hated "Pop goes the Weasel" line was removed, I am not 100% sure though. I guess I could check.
EDIT: Nope, it wasn't I guess when I watched that on the season set I went deaf for a second.

Unfortunately it wasn't removed, I double-checked myself.

Yeah, that line sucks. I mean the original line wouldn't fit in english, but they could have done something like.
"Who shall I kill next?" or um, anything but pop goes the weasel.

Yeah and watching it with the Bruce Faulconer BGM is unbearable. I just can't watch it with the Bruce Faulconer BGM anymore, the Japanese/Shunsuke Kikuchi BGM is faaarrr better, even with corny lines it's still awesome to watch.

OK! Just got mine...
I'm disappointed to see that "Head Cha-La" still sounds like it came off a cassette that got ran over by multiple semis.

Jeez, not again; I was dreading the possibility of that. :x UPS is probably routing my copy through Lower Slobovia as we speak.

Did you notice any drop-outs on the Japanese track?

Say what?

That's STILL in there. Sabat kept that line because he wanted in on the whole internet craze.

The only reason the line's still in there is because they recycled most of their old scripts from the Saban era. The Ultimate Uncut dub is from 2005, roughly a year before the whole craze started.

Anyway, I slapped this together in a matter of minutes, just to see how the Funimation dub sounded with Gohan going Super Saiyan 2 with "Spirit vs. Spirit" intact:

I also cut out Gohan's cheesy monologue for my own personal tastes, of which I'm sure most people feel the same about.

Oh, what I was actually talking about is how Vegeta says it. I preferred how it was said in the FUNimation dub as it sounds more realistic and it's more accurate. I should of added that, darn it!

It was like "It's over 9000 argh!" instead of "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSSAAANNNDDD!!!!"

Most people find the scene like a comedy but it wasn't meant to be funny and more serious. Because 9000 or 8000 which is the true ki is not usual and yelling big over it is so over-rated.

These sets look awesome compared to the singles. However, the colors are far from the Dragon Box, and the singles are actually closer to the DBox in terms of accuracy.

Fuck, they both look bad. The UUEs weren't great, but at least you could tell if Piccolo's shirt was riding up or casting a shadow.
