No! Ultimate DBZ, you don't know what you're getting into! You're so young! Don't throw it all away like this!

[/sarcasm]

But seriously, I'd drop it. There's nothing wrong with liking the Season Sets, widescreen or whatever. Just... a lot of folks around here don't like to hear anything positive about them either way. No matter what you present... you're likely just gonna get replied to with some variation of, "No, screw you."

He hasn't stated any things positive about the season sets (price, episode count, better encodes etc), he's just stated information that is just flat out wrong.

Hell, I own two of them (But was so disheartened by season two that I'm trying to import Funi's singles from the US)

And Kaboom that's not why people are arguing with him. It's the misinformation he keeps posting and insisting is correct that people have a problem with. It's nothing to do with whether he prefers the seasons sets or not.

Bwahahaha. Overscan? Are you fucking me? True, tube televisions have overscan, but not so much overscan that you'd cut off 20% of the image. The worst TV might cut off 5%. Further, all flat panel televisions (LCD, plasma, etc) have zero overscan. Even further there's no reason to crop out what some TVs might miss, don't punish others for a small segment of bad TVs.
And film damage? Do like Spain, and buy some decent film masters.

There's nothing wrong with liking the season sets - there's plenty wrong with liking them for non-reasons. The cropping is not justified because of overscan or film damage.

And, Awesome, this fuckbag has prompted me to do that Season Set page. Tomorrow I'll be asking for help getting info - this shit cannot stand.

False. Hate to give it to fucko, but overscan does occur, it's just that it's pretty moot in this case. My television overscans by about 1-2 percent (I think I measured it at 1.5% to be exact), and it's a Pioneer Plasma. However, the whole "screenshots misrepresent because they don't account for overscan" argument is bullshit. Overscan is a variable, hence the only way to accurate represent both FUNimation's product and any competitors is to show them both fully.

Ultimate, you misunderstood me. I'm not saying your arguments are right or anything. Quite frankly, these guys, though they are severely lacking in the tact department, are still correct about the topic at hand.

I'm just warning you against actually putting up a losing argument. Especially one that's mistaken from the get-go. It's... "suicidal" on this forum.

Let me know if I can help with comparisons, I've got the first two season sets and all of the UUE's Funi put out up until the end of the Freeza saga.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Okay, I'm usually arguing against Desire and Corey, but Ultimate DBZ, I've come to the conclusion that you're a misinformed idiot. Unfortunately, I'm posting from my Cell phone, and it has a stupid limit to how much you can put in a text box, so I'll dissect your points tommorow.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Better yet, instead of cropping, they should just have the 1920x1440 (or something similarly hi-res) master encoded with a 4:3 flag for Blu-Ray. Or even just hard pillarboxing would be preferable.

Yeah some things are not meant to be cropped lol But then again, when every channel switches to HD, and they show DBZ, chances are they'd either stretch it, or crop it. Cropping would be the better option.

Yep! Ignore the fact that most stations that are already HD are pillarboxing material :P

Exactly, If there is a HD release of the Dragonboxes, is that what we should expect/hope for? (not counting the movies obviously, though 4:3 would be nice)

(Finally someone actually responded to my question lol :P)

I'm dropping the season set arguement for SSj Kaboom, because he is the only guy who is being nice, reasonable, and not cursing his head off like he has has no lifw and just sits in a dark basement and has no life, unlike other ppl. But do you guys even have a dragon box? I have a single DBOX for cdjapan.co.jp (and if you really want DBOX so badly, get it at cdjapan.co.jp for american dollers) and even though the quality is great, its not overwhelming like you guys think. The audio is the only overwelming thing, other then that, it just looks exactly like on TV, just in DVD Quality. Dragon Box the Movies is the only Dragon Box that actualy has a remastered footage and a notacble difference. DBOX the movies actually looks like HD, and the audio is so clear, it was like sterio. I didn't even notice a difference between sterio and regular. But for the other ones, it was only a big hit in Japan because it was the first time where you can own the series on DVD or at all. And consittering none of you most likely speaks Japanese, the remastered audio might be impresive for 15 minutes. (20 if you compare them to the original audio from the amreican releases like I did) Of cource, Broly on Blue-Ray can compeate. The 16:9 does not effect anything cause that was its original format, its in 1080p, and the audio is very good. The reason why FUNimation doesn't use Dragon Box quality, or releases Dragon Box quality, is because Toei does not give them the rights for the Dragon Box or its footage. This is probally because A. Toei is asking for an unreasonable amount of moeny, or B. Toei does not want to give it to them so they can make more money around the world.
