Avatar Size (80x80) Reminder

Post by VegettoEX » Sat Oct 30, 2004 11:01 pm

Just a reminder; please follow forum rules, specifically with regards to avatar size. There is a limit of 80x80 pixels. Your avatar may not exceed 80 pixels in either height or width. If your avatar is found to be larger than 80x80 in any direction, it will be removed, with or without notification.

That said, the following users have all had their avatars removed:
  • Adamas de Diama
  • Babakku
  • chibi_tapion
  • Frobman
  • Kinema
  • mAcChaos
  • Magica
  • Mugenmidget
  • Muten Turtel
  • Ramenman
  • Shenron_3000
  • SpiritBomb
  • The S
  • Xenoman
If I find any of these users with avatars exceeding 80x80 pixels again, it may result in a temporary ban. Thanks for helping to keep the most friendly and intelligent DB forum/site community going ^^.

My avatar compared to VegettoEX seemed too small! Than I'll have to decrease the size than! A hundred appologies!

Now this time I've made sure it's under 80x80 pixels!

You don't have it linked to an image. At least, the address doesn't end in an image filetype suffix (.gif, .jpg, et cetera).

Be warned, however, that this isn't really a thread to test your avatar. You can do that in your own time, making sure the site you have it uploaded to accepts offsite display, that you have the URL correct, and (most importantly) that it's the proper size.

Please keep this in mind for future reference.

EDIT: Now it's too big.

It's a little bit too big there. About 18x18 pixels too big. Please read the dimensions rules next time. '-'

(Ex. Maybe you oughta put in an avatar auto-resize mod?)

I actually haven't even looked into any mods for the forum. I'm not too huge in the PHP scene, so I don't know a whole lot about it. I'd greatly enjoy something like that, though, so if anyone can suggest something specific, that'd rock.

There's already an internal avatar-size restriction, but it's limited only to when avatars are locally hosted. In this forum's case, you have to directly link to your avatar off-site.

Hello, I'm new here and have a question about avatars. Why I can't download any avatar from my PC.I check the FAQ about this and it said that it's up to the moderators as to who can have avatars, is this true or did I misinterpreted the message? Please help me!

Sorry for this,it's my attempt at humor.

No you can use an avatar from your PC, but you need to upload it first to an image hosting site such as photobucket. The format of this board doesn't allow for uploading avatars directly from your computer right to this site. I'm not sure where in the FAQs you read that moderators can decide who can have an avatar because I didn't see anything like that. This thread was just a reminder to people that there is size limit for avatars on this site and that is nothing bigger than 80X80 pixels. Other than that, the only other rule is not hentai or offensive type avatars.

I'm afraid it does. As I stated the last time I posted in this thread, nothing bigger than 80x80 pixels. Your current avatar is 96x96 pixels.

I noticed when uploading my avatar that there was also a limit as to the size of the avatar's file? I had a different icon I wanted to use, but it exceeded the 8-kb limit. I'm guessing that the forum automatically doesn't accept files that big, or else you might have mentioned it here...
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Actually, the '8 kB limit' is just a leftover from the stock site design. By default the forum uploads avatars to the server. This forum doesn't do that, it requires you to link offsite. There is no mechanism in place to check or restrict the file-size of your avatar.

My avatar is 18 kB :)

The filesize limit is more a very highly suggested... err... suggestion, on my part :).

True as well. It should be pointed out that many people still have dial-up - and while a 50 K avatar might not seem like much when you've got a fat pipe, dial-up users waste preciou bandwidth on it.

So, be nice. :)

Ohh... o__o;;

Does this mean I should change my icon from the 22-kb I've got now to the one I had before? Sorry I didn't notice this earlier.
