Didn't Yamcha have a Kaio gi?

Post by Chibi Mystic Gohan » Wed Nov 09, 2005 2:19 pm

I seem to recall Yamcha wearing a Kaiô gi at some point. Was that only in the anime or something? I don't see it in the manga.

Yes Yamcha does have the kaio sigil. It is one the front of his gi but is not in volume 28 for some reason. Yamcha also has the kaio sigil on his gi in movie 3.

So does it appear in the manga at all?

He has a gi with a Kame kanji on his back and a Kaiô kanji on his chest when they await the Jinzôningen on that island. You can see it clearly on the two-page chapteropening.

Funny though, there are some mistakes in that chapter...in one screen Yamucha misses the kanji on his chest, in another screen he has the hairdo he had before the timejump.

At the Cell Games, he has both front and back a Kame kanji.

And the interesting thing is that hairdo only appeared in the anime...

Nope, he has that hairdo when Trunks arrives for the first time.

Oh kanji/emblem mix-ups have happened more in the DB manga. Like in the very first Budokai, after Kuririn hands Son Goku his gi after he had gone Oozaru, he himself donned his yellow monk outfit again, and in a single panel the kame kanji magically appears on there. <.<;;

Heh, I'll have to look for that one!
I also noticed that Toriyama got tired of drawing Yamcha's Kaiô symbol, or something, because he moved the hole in his shirt (from being stabbed by Gero) from the center to where the Kaiô symbol was :D

Yeah, after three chapters of him drawing it half torn through, he only drew the hole over the symbol once out of about 15 times.

I found the spot where Yamcha gets his old hairdo back. It's at the end of Volume 12/28, right after the Androids blow up Yajirobe's Air car and drop into the city.

Can you scan those? It's something I've got to see to believe.

Scroll down and you'll see Yamcha's hair change!

I also found a panel during the Freeza fight were Kaiô-sama is actually wearing Chaozu's hat! I'll find the volume and page number when I get home >_<

They also missed that in Volume 15, when Taopaipai fires the Super Dodonpa...he is shown firing it from his right arm, and in the next frame, firing it from the left.

I thought I was officially nuts when I noticed that on the spot. Also, in Volume 28, there is a frame where, in the far background, Vegeta gets his Earth Armor back... (Spoke too soon on that, they have it.)
