Post by mrkitano » Sat Nov 26, 2005 11:55 am

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows the meaning of Goku's character written on his Gi while in Namek?

I don't quite remember which one it is on Namek, but:

If it's go 悟, that's the first kanji of his name (Son Goku 孫悟空). If it's the Kaiô symbol, it's... err... the Kaiô symbol :P. That kanji actually doesn't really exist; it's a combination of the kai and ô symbols that Toriyama threw together to create something new (which is how many kanji were created, in the first place, anyway). In a nutshell, kai means "world", and the ô means "king" or "lord". So yeah, it's just the character's name... but his name is a description... kinda weird ^_~.

Thanks, VegettoEX! I think that's the one, if I remember correctly! So, he chose his own kanji this time. Makes sense.

Kaio is more of a title. His given name, of course is Glinda.

You should do something with that for your next April Fool's joke Mike. 8)

Glinda has insect-like wings, so does Gregory.

Both are from the world beyond (Mortal realm, Afterlife. Kansass, Oz)

Both are part of a quartet, distributed among the compass directions. And both are representatives for the North.

I asked this same question back in February. Julian gave me a really good answer.
