Dragonball Z Movie 12: Fusion Reborn, in selected theatres

Post by Blitzen » Sun Feb 05, 2006 2:33 am

Just caught wind of this-

http://www.funimationfilms.com/

"FUNimation Films will be going nationwide in March at select theaters starting with a double feature of Dragon Ball Z Fusion Reborn and Dragon Ball Z The Return of Cooler. Following that, fans will get the opportunity to catch a sneak peek of the upcoming series Basilisk in April. Our first three months on the big screen will also feature Trinity Blood in May."

Now they're most definantly dub only, but what I'm thinking is- why now? Why not when it had more of a sway?

Well, regardless, the movies are finally coming out theatrically, which I guess should mean something.

DUDE!
I am going to have to see that! I hope it isn't only in city theaters like New York City, Knoxville, or Atlanta; because I live in a small town. *sigh* Now I'm getting my hopes up.
Even I became a loser when I made one of these...

March 17th? This is kind of last second notice, even for Funi... How old is this site, exactly? I can't find any mention of it or any links to it on any other Funimation related websites, leading you to think it's brand new, but...

Not that I'm complaining or anything! Wow... who hasn't always wanted to see these on the big screen? This is really something I'd thought I'd never get a chance to see. Funimation is kind of taking a chance with this though. Has this ever been done before in America (A Double Feature Anime Movie Viewing)? If so, it was unbeknownst to me. If this bodes well with the public, I hope we see other company's try something like this. So many movies I'd want to see in theatres!

Also, why'd they choose Movie 6 as opposed to the Ever popular Movie 8 or something else? Kind of strikes me as odd. I'm glad seeing as how I loved 6, but I just can't see any reason...Aw well, its Funi after all...

Hope more info makes itself available soon; I definatly want to keep updated on the status of this.
So zetta slow

It's weird that there's no (apparent) links to this site from the main FUNi site, but a quick whois revals the contact info for each site is the same (except for the film site's fax # 999 999 9999 :? ). Apparently the site's been up since September 13th, so there should be something on the main page by now...

Though looking at FUNi's main page, they have "all new DragonBallZ.com its all Super Saiyan 5 and stuff!"

(it says "its" and "Super Saiyan 5" )

I prefer that they use movie 6 as opposed to movie 8. While Movie 12 has some really fantastic moments
, movie 6 is one of the more compotent movies that strays from the formula and infact has a really good twist to it.

Movie 8, while it introduces one of the more popular villians, is a very slow, plodding piece after the halfway mark, and almost becomes a chore to watch. It didn't need to be as long as it was.

Actually, that link was dead until just recently. Anime Insider had an article about this in it's January edition of their magazine.

The link didn't work. After checking the Funimation boards, some one posted it was coming soon.

:P Fuck Janemba! Hitler's in this movie! Yeah, I noticed this in an Anime Insider I picked up a few days ago and it's pretty fucking awesome. I doubt my parents would sit through a thirty minute movie, ecspecially if it's DBZ so I'll just have to wait like everyone else...

Besides, the only two theatres we how where I live aren't in very big cities...
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

The SS5 thing sounds more like it's supposed to be a joke. I wouldn't look into it >>;

Also, didn't they do this with Movie 8 a LONG time ago or something? o_O I remember hearing something about it, possibly even on Daizenshuu EX unless I'm going nuts. In any case, it sounds interested, so I'll definetely try to check it out.

I doubt a limited screening in a few select cinemas is going to make much of a difference.

Did anyone else notice that error they made on that particular Anime Insider issue regarding Movie 12?

What an awsome idea, I used to envy the Japanese fans who got to see all of the movies in theaters. I really hope it comes to one in my area, I can imagine how amazing it's going to be to see DragonballZ on the big screen.

I haven't seen movie 12, nor have I seen movie 6 all the way through, so it will be great seeing both movies for the first time together. I would say the reason they chose to show movie 6 in particular with it is because both films have Vegeta and Goku fighting together throughout the movie. Another possible advantige to this is that since their playing it in theaters, Funimation might rerelease Return Of Cooler and more copies will show up in stores.

I will be pretty dissapointed if the movies aren't in a theater near me, this is some cool news.

I'll take this news with a healthy dose of skepticism, but fully intend to celebrate if it in fact turns out to be true. Life-sized DBZ, bigger than anything we have ever seen . . . can you picture it?

Hmm. Now that I think of it, perhaps this theatrical release is what the FUNimation website meant by, "We have big plans for this one, so stay tuned." (See "Cover Art for Movie 12!" thread.)
