Already curious about Movie 13?
I sure am.
Yeah, I know; it's particularly impatient and outright greedy of me, especially considering that Fusion Reborn was released just yesterday. Even so, I did some research to try and find anything about Movie 13 that I could, and while I didn't find much aside from grainy screenshots or the occasional link to a fansub, I did come across something a fair bit more reasonable that I don't imagine would tick off the local management if it came up in a post.
Look, it's a slideshow! And the quality of the screenshots isn't half-bad, either . . . though the scenes feel just a BIT rushed, considering what few details I've heard about the movie.
It's the poor man's fansub!!

Wow, I haven't seen that movie in about 8 years. It brought back some memories. Does anyone know if this was released during the Boo saga or after the series ended?
Also the big debate about this movie will be if they are going to keep in the original flute solo. I can't decide for myself if the flut solo falls under the catagory of BGM or sound FX. The reason for this is that sure its a little bit of a solo but it also has shown up on some DBZ soundtracks, and they don't usually put sound FX on soundtracks, they put BGM and what not. So anything is possible.

Wikipedia says that the Buu saga lasted into 1996, while the oh-so-helpful Daizenshuu EX Movie Guide cites a July 15, 1995 Toei Anime Fair premiere for Movie 13. So if Wikipedia's actually correct in this particular instance, then yeah; the movie showed up before the series ended.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Wow, I haven't seen that movie in about 8 years. Augh, dammit! I can't remember whether they did or not. I want to say that they changed Gohan's whistle, but I'm not 100% certain . . . and I'm too freakin' lazy to get out of the chair and take Fusion Reborn out of the DVD player and pop in Lord Slug.tarsonis wrote:When they dubbed movie 4 (which I have not seen), did they keep Gohan's whistling or change that? The same thing would probably occur.

Not having seen the original, I can't say if it's the same whistling but there is whistling.tarsonis wrote:Hard to say. When was DBZ not super sentai in kung fu form? Really, that's all japan boils down to in the end. And yeah, thanks for the slide show. I haven't seen this one yet so I'm actually interested in watching it now.

Sentai more often than not follow a specific formula, akin to say, moster of the week. It may have one badguy pulling the strings, but the people they are against usualy are just minions etc. DBZ is an ongoing martial arts/action series, and doesnt have the Sentai staples.Mr. Announcer wrote:When was DBZ not super sentai in kung fu form? Yeah I know, not to look at DBZ in a superficial way but they do sort of have that secret earth protection force monster of the week dynamic going. They just don't have a huge megazord to jump into every five seconds.

I can see them changing it purely because one of the main japanese music themes is taken from the song and expanded upon. I guess they would look at it as a Japanese song. I think they will keep it but it will not play such a large part of influence of the entire BGM.

Seriously though, you see how One Piece is getting dubbed right now? Reminds me of season 1 and 2 of DBZ, they will probley gain a lot of new fans of the show with the dub, later they will probley find out about all the cencoring and changes that they made. You think they would ever go back and re-dub the series with all the parts they took out? Or at least DVD's with a Japanese track? Probley not.
Hmmmn probably no chance of Tapion keeping his original orcarina tune.
*goes over and kisses her french DVD, for although the voice acting is lousy and it is called the 'second part of movie 1', Tapion keeps his pretty music* <3
I have this on DVD, I'd offer to screenshot it, but the geeks that programmed it disabled that
