Transfering the DBZ Playdia games to DVD (Video Clips!)

Post by capsuleman » Fri May 05, 2006 6:48 pm

I have a kind of weird project that I have started that I need some help with the translations. First let me explain exactelly what I am doing:
1. Transfering the video footage from Both Playdia games to Mpg2.
2. Adding subs to the footage.
3. Reencoding them to DVD or some other format.
First off I dont plan on compiling them as a movie but as an interactive game just as they were originally intended for. I can do all the transfering and encoding but as I stated I need help with the translations. If anyone wants to help please let me know. I have been reading through Daizex silently through the shadows for quite sometime and figured this would be the place to start.
-edit-
This is for the Playdia games not the footage for the supposed OVA's. I will be ripping the video and can send it to someone who is willing to translate it for me.
Thanks

This sounds like a really great project, I'll be looking forward to see how it turns out. :)

Now that there is a Playdia topic anyway.
When you put the games in a computer, there'a a .AJS file from over 700MB on the discs.

Does anyone know what those are, or what a .AJS file is? :?

It sounds really cool, I actually wanted TOEI to do this for the Dragon Boxes on the bonus disc as an interactive dvd.
Although I wouldn't have been able to understand a lot off it I probably would have made my own OVA eventually by editing like I plan on doing with some of the battles from the series.
It makes me wonder though how much footage you miss when you have only seen the Playdia OVA?

Quoting one is plagiarism.
Quoting many is research.

SS Kakarot to answer your question I assume .AJS file's are a format that is currently only supported by the Playdia. I could be wrong about this but as far as I know there is no program that can read Playdia files.
As for Denitonis's question you miss quite a lot of video. The game's dont play out like the supposed OVA's. I have transfered quite a lot of footage from the second game if anyone would like to see some of the footage before its completed. Also if anyone is interested I still need some translaters. You can either help with the translations of the footage or the manual. Just go ahead and send me a pm. I plan on making this a DVD but latelly I have been thinking that maybe I should make this a flash game. What does everyone think?

Speaking of the Playdia games, I've posted two of the hidden endings on my blog http://aaaend.blogspot.com/ (including the Chô Genkidama). You just need to go there to watch the videos.

LaRésistance do you by chance have a walkthrough for this. At this moment its a matter of going through the game as many times as possible to find alternate paths. If not could you tell me how you uncovered any certain paths.
Thanks

I don't have a walkthrough. I also don't remember the exact choices you have to make to get to those endings but I do remember that you must meet the baby dragon under the water to get the Chô Genkidama ending (push the button when Goku is looking around under the water and sees a black hole).

To get the "scroll" ending, push the button when you see the bush moving under the water. You'll then talk to some dragon character who will give you the piece of paper if you give him a senzu.

Just wanted to give all of you a little update. I have been busy transfering a ton of footage. On the plus side I will have a basic demo if anyone is interested in a couple of days. You will be able to play this on your dvd player with some interaction. The dvd so far goes from the start of the game up until they depart for space. It is not very long, but hopefully it will spark some interest and I will be able to recieve some help from anyone out there (For the two of you that have already helped, I thank you). The only problem is the file so far is about 600mb, so if anyone has a place where I can put it up for everyone to download would be a great help.

Great news for all you fans out there. I have a basic demo for this project finished. It is for the second Playdia game and it is fully interactive, well as interactive as the game originally was. Denitonis has kindly allowed me to upload this file. But with all great things there are drawbacks. I am only looking for about 10 different testers right now to help with this project. I would like to offer the first couple of slots to all the moderators for this site, so if you guys are interetsed please shoot me a pm. As for everyone else please only offer to test if you believe you can helpout in anyway as hopefully the completed project will be available to everyone.

I would love to help, since I could probably offer a thorough look at your demo and probably find anything wrong.

I'm assuming this is okay with VegettoEX? I'm pretty sure this would fall under fansubs, but who knows? I guess we'll wait and see.

Are you working on an English subtitled version? I'm just wondering.

If you made this a flash game and hosted it on a website, then more people could play it and it would be for free. I like the idea of a flash game more than a dvd, but regardless I still think your project is a really great idea. Sorry that I can't be of any help, but if you need anyone to try out your game, I'll be willing.

On another note, wow, that's a big Capsule Corps. spaceship.
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

Don't you mean "Cupsule Corp"? :)

Oh, and the original poster wanted to know what those screenshots said?

First:

"Alright! Let's get everyone together!"

"Let's get in contact with Vegeta and the others!"

"We shouldn't let our guard down!"

"Let's get something to eat on the double!"

-------

Second:

"Save the Earth...Son-kun."

"Save the Earth...Everyone."

"Save the Earth...Piccolo."

"Save the Earth...Vegeta."

 That line is an instant classic. Now I must play this to see Gohan's reaction.
"Save the Earth...Piccolo."

Piccolo?! o_O Now that seems really out of character for Bulma to say, even more so than Goku wanting to go eat when the Earth is under attack.

As to the answer for Grandmaster J's question, yes I do plan on having these subtitled.
And for veshira I would like to make this into a flash game but I have to learn flash and will start working on that after I finish the DVD version. Oh and veshira just PM if you wanna test it.
Thank you all.

I really want to know what the translation for this is. I'm thinking "keep hiding the vacuum".
Haha!
