"Super DragonBall Z" or "Sparking! NEO"?
No, this isn't a "Super DragonBall Z" vs. "Sparking! NEO" thread (or at least that's not my intention if it seems that way). The sole purpose of this thread is to state which game you're looking forward to the most & why. The reason I'm doing this thread is because it's interesting to see people's opinions of course, & I know there's a good amount that are looking foward to one of these games or both. After watching both demonstration videos & looking at these forums, It seems like they're quite a good amount of people looking foward to "Sparking! NEO".
As for me, I'm looking foward to both games, but "Super DragonBall Z" is a fighting game I've been wanting as a DragonBall fan for a while now because not only does it have a nice combo system, it seems to re-create a more manga experience, (basically it just seems to be more faithful toward Toriyama-sensei's work), & Toriyama made a more "fleshed out"? Mecha Freeza for the game.
Of course, I'm looking foward to "Sparking! NEO" for it's anime-style recreation & simulation of the series. I like the graphics, camera angles, & special moves. More DB characters would be nice.

I'm looking forward to Super DragonBall Z right now.
But I'm loking forward to Sparkin! 3 more.
When I can get a DBZ game that has movement and camera mechanics like Sparking!, and fights like Super DragonBall Z, with a true stat-based strength system and true enviromental damage, I will buy that shit like you wouldn't believe.
Sigh, I have little hope though.

Never give up hope my dancing friend! DBZ has come a long way and one day I'm sure a game will be made that will exceed your most wild expectations!desirecampbell wrote: When I can get a DBZ game that has movement and camera mechanics like Sparking!, and fights like Super DragonBall Z, with a true stat-based strength system and true enviromental damage, I will buy that shit like you wouldn't believe.

As for me, I'm also looking forward to both. Why choose?

That's true - but I'm still not very hopeful. With the quick turnaround we've seen with these games, I'm sure they're not going to be able to create such great increases in the game until Sparking! 8 or DragonBall Z 9MisterFlashdude wrote:Never give up hope my dancing friend! Though I am looking into modding Red Faction to create a very interesting DBZ game.

I'm looking forward to both games, and I have no doubt both of them are going to be great. If I have to choose though, Sparking Neo is definitely my pick.
While I'm sure many people are looking forward to the great combos and balanced gameplay of Super DBZ, I'm just not as big into fighting games as some people, and Neo looks like it's going to be the better DBZ game. (wicked re-designed Mecha Freeza not withstanding)
I mean, 130 fighters, including transformations, battle damage, alternate costumes, and giant fighters like Great Apes and Hildegarn? They've never even attempted a DBZ game of this scope before, and if done properly this will be the best game in the franchise to date...and it's one hell of a way to say goodbye to PS2, and hello to Wii.

Super DragonballZ
You can see my post in it's respective thread to see why and plus, I don't have the first Budokai Tenkaichi. I've only rented the game and I'm more exited for a fresh, new francise than a sequel to a game I have yet to own.
I guess I'm also more into it's style.

That's fine I'm not restricting it to just one game. Like others, I'm looking forward to both games it's just that "Super DragonBall Z" falls into more my ideal DragonBall game. It seems to get the look right (well that's just my opinion), alongside a cool looking fighting system.MisterFlashdude wrote:Never give up hope my dancing friend! I agree with you there, but I'm more of "quality over quantity" freak, sort of say. If all the characters in "Sparking! NEO" played like the characters in "Super DBZ", then yes I would be very happy.Deus ex Machina wrote:I mean, 130 fighters, including transformations, battle damage, alternate costumes, and giant fighters like Great Apes and Hildegarn? Super DBZ.
Sparking 1 left me with a very "bad taste in my mouth" and so far the new game doesn't look like it'll change that much.
Super DBZ on the other hand has a smaller line up, allowing them to (hopefully) be more unique with the way they play. Additionally it's including a character I've wanted to see in a DBZ fighting game for a while now (Demon King Piccolo) and the idea to use ChiChi was nice and original. Finally the changes to Adult Gohan, Mecha Freeza, Videl and possibly Trunks offers a nice breath of fresh air to DBZ fighting games. I think it's great to see someone do something different rather than make a 100% carbon copy of the manga.

Sparking! NEO has to be the one for me, I actually quite enjoyed the first one and this one looks to have the refinements that I want.
Of course, that's not to say that I won't be purchasing Super Dragonball Z, but if I saw both games in the shop beside each other and only had enough money for one game, then it'd be Sparking! NEO.
Then I'd get Super Dragonball Z the next week.

I'm looking forward to both, but I can't really decide which one I would want MORE.
I've wanted to see Capcom do a DBZ fighting game for ages now, and Super DBZ will probably be about as close as it'll get.
Then Tenkaichi 2 looks to be a HUGE epic, with almost every character you could ever want. I really enjoyed the first game, and the sequel should only improve on what I already love.

I'm not sure.
I definitely want Super DBZ because I've been waiting for a serious DBZ fighter for..um.. ever.
Sparking Neo however looks like it's going to be an ubelievable flash-filled DBZ extravaganza, whether or not the actual combat is evolved won't really matter I'll be playing that just to have fun because I'm a DBZ fan.

Sparking! NEO.
There are 100+ characters in the game (excluding the transformation character thing in Sparking!), Android 13 and Lord Slug were just two. There could be even more characters, say....Hildegarn or Tapion?!?
I like Super DragonBall Z, but the only new character in that game is Chi-
Chi. (It's cool to have her in a game though)

Yeah, I totally agree with SuperSaiyanVegeta. The graphics look gorgeous on the screen, I am really excited to see a demo for the Wii version.SuperSaiyanVegeta wrote:Sparking! NEO.

Wii Instructor: Now just place the Wii remote on your head and fire the Spirit Bomb by moving the remote down.

What do you mean by 100% carbon copy of the manga?, I always thought the previous "DragonBall Z" PS2 games were more deviations of the anime, especially with the recent Sparking! games (the flying). I'm rather confused, can you explain in a little further detail? Or were you referring to "Super DBZ" not being a 100% carbon copy of the manga?Caracal wrote:Super DBZ.

What I meant was rather than following the manga and anime pretty much perfectly, the game does something new and different, like the different weapons ChiChi, Trunks, Adult Gohan and Mecha Freeza are getting, Videl having a ki attack etc.Sebastian (SB) wrote:What do you mean by 100% carbon copy of the manga?, I always thought the previous "DragonBall Z" PS2 games were more deviations of the anime, especially with the recent Sparking! games (the flying). At first, I was with Super DBZ, because Sparking! never sounded 100% right to me.
Now, based on the movies I've seen for S-NEO, I must say I can't wait to play this game. 130 characters, excellent presentation, polished gameplay... it looks so, so sweet.
But I will very much enjoy S-DBZ as well. I think I'll buy them both at once, when NEO will be released.
