Good point... A "remastered" release of this series, with that strange english dub over japanese music option would be better. That music was just very very out of place...SSj Kaboom wrote:What made FUNi's dub of GT as nigh-unwatchable as it was was the horrible music. Aside from that, the script wasn't bad and the voices were pretty good, at least from what I remember.
We've gotten early bits of news about "Remastered" GT sets from FUNi coming out... this summer, I think? Provided they've got the Dub w/ Japanese Music option like the Z ones, they'd probably be your best bet for watching a decent dub of GT.
I can just picture Roshi in your avatar saying that.the original ero-sennin wrote:, Aw yeah, Nigga! It's time to get your DragonBall on....

Yeah, they looked terrible. The looked like they were shipped strait from Japan - in a box of magnets and sandpaper.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:Ugh, you guys may hate the FUNimation dub of GT, but I hate Calgary's Blue Water dub. It was edited(mostly nudity, like DB), it looked like it was 20 years old, it had a weird cast, and it was the only version I watched on TV(At that time YTV still hated FUNimation).
Watching it as I type(Via my VHS Recording), its video quality was a lot better than what I remembered it to be, but still, it look like it did go through a box of magnets and sandpaper, and no where near that of the video quality of FUNimation's release, which I can tell by since I have it on hand aswell. It always confused the heck out of me, because DragonBall on YTV looked like it was younger than GT, which means DB was wearing Make-Up, or someone really never liked GT at Blue Water.desirecampbell wrote:Yeah, they looked terrible. Yeah, FUNi's dubbing work for GT was overall very good, aside from the horrid music. Which is why I'm waiting for their remastered season sets to start collecting GT, provided it has the same Dub w/ Japanese BGM option as their new Z sets. So, Piccolowns (Which he SO does, by the way), If you're really itching for a good dub of GT, it might be worth doing the same and waiting for those. They're probably as good as you're ever gonna get.SuperVegito17 wrote:Watch the funimation dub...the voices are cool. But the music is not good at all, but you wont like the ocean dub, trust me. But either way, gt isnt that good anyway.
That's pretty neat, actually, I've watched a couple scenes with JPN music.SSj Kaboom wrote:Which is why I'm waiting for their remastered season sets to start collecting GT, provided it has the same Dub w/ Japanese BGM option as their new Z sets.
You have to admit, though, the actors over at the Funi dub overact and vocalize wayyyyyy too much. That's pretty neat, actually, I've watched a couple scenes with JPN music.
SSJ Transformation still rocks the hell out of the JPN music during when Goku goes SSJ, but it's pretty good for the other scenes I watched.

It's like, every time they are shown on screens with their mouths open, they have to grunt or moan or something. It sounds ridiculous.
I even remember from the early Freeza saga when they were still spouting that "next dimension" excrement, and no one could die. Freeza's men that died were all piled around groaning and breathing loudly whenever the camera turned their way, it sounded laughable.
Yeah, I have to admit, with the sets I have so far, I usually still stick to the Japanese version for that reason. >.> From what I remember, the dubbing got a lot better overall around the Buu saga, and the dubbing of GT was actually good. So I'll be using the dub w/ JP BGM option a lot more when it comes to those sets.Horgus wrote:You have to admit, though, the actors over at the Funi dub overact and vocalize wayyyyyy too much.

They are, but not until like, June, I think.SuperVegito17 wrote:Are you sure Funi will release the GT remastered? 'Cause I doubt it, as GT isn't so popular
That's not the fault of the actors it's the fault of the directors. Watch some Yu Yu Hakusho in the dub since it has mostly the same cast as the Dragonball dubs minus a few people here and there. But they vocalize way less there than in the DB/Z/GT dubs. I actually like watching YYH dubbed too but dragonball stuff...no.Horgus wrote:You have to admit, though, the actors over at the Funi dub overact and vocalize wayyyyyy too much.

Yeah, I always switch to Japanese also due do to the crappy music in the DUB, unlike Z it isn't too late to release this since GT's only been out for what 3-4 here in the US?SSj Kaboom wrote:Yeah, I have to admit, with the sets I have so far, I usually still stick to the Japanese version for that reason. >.> From what I remember, the dubbing got a lot better overall around the Buu saga, and the dubbing of GT was actually good.
