The first Hetappi joke is typical ero-sennin: Hetappi walks in on Tori-bot reading a dirty magazine. Toriyama claims it's because this chapter of the story is about how to draw women. He breathes a sigh of relief Hetappi believes him. The other dirty joke however... The final chapter starts off with Tori-bot giving the lecture by having us watch a casette (those things that came out before DVDs). When he starts the VCR, however, we get a nice shot of a woman on top, groping her tits as she orgasms. The joke is that he put the wrong cassette in. However, if we have any such cassettes we want to get rid of, we shouldn't hesitate to send them to him.
Though I haven't read Lady Red, I've seen his Bitch's Life submissions. It's pretty tame: a pirate ship with a bunch of half-to-fully nekkid pirate women. Imagine the woman from Blue Dragon (same art style). Tons of her without tops, or just a belt, or no pants (one riding a pteradactyl, if that floats your boat). It isn't arousing in the least, but it's a really cool pic that deserves to be put into a general Toriyama Art Book. Basically, it's even more tame than the Hetappi pic, whereas submissions to Bitch's Life are usually much more provacative (it's hentai for arousal's sake).
Seeing how much Toriyama employs gag-hentai, and how suggestive his earlier gag-hentai is, does anybody else get the impression that he's as perverted as Kamesennin?
EDIT:
Hetappi Manga Kenkyuujo = 1984
Lady Red = 1987
Bitch's Life = 2001

Herms wrote:First, Lady Red ran in Super Jump, not Weekly Jump. It's was a single, three page story. Super Jump is having an annersary right now, so I've been seeing ads in the subway for it that feature Lady Red. Anyway, I actually picked up the two Toriyama Man-Kan volumes recently, and I also got the Toriyama Exhibition book, which was the only other place Lady Red's been printed in. So I've managed to read it in two formats. It's...uh...well, here's a summary:
Lady Red is a former office lady who quit her job to become a "messenger of justice", even though this doesn't pay at all. She drives around in her completely ordinary, slightly beat-up car with "justice" written on the side, patrolling for evil. As she's driving along one day, she hits the car in front of her. The driver berates her, and Lady Red gives him the finger as he drives away.
Suddenly there's gunshots. Lady Red turns to see a bank robber fleeing the scene of the crime. She gets in her car to try and pursue him, but it won't move. So she hails a taxi and follows the bank robber back to his house. However, she doesn't have any money to pay the fair. She offendedly asks the taxi drives if he intends to take money from an ally of justice. He grabs her hand and says that if she doesn't have any money, then she'll have to "pay with her body". There's a wide shot of the taxi and its surroundings, and we hear Lady Red go "Ah.....!". In the next panel, the taxi driver says "so long" and drives away, leaving behind a disheveled and phased-out looking Lady Red.
Lady Red soon snaps out of it, saying that it's no time for broken spirits. She dashes to the bank robber's house and barges in, telling the bank robber to surrender quietly. Instead he grabs her arm and says they should have some fun together. He undresses the protesting Lady Red, and then...In the next panel, Lady Red is lying naked on the bank robber's bed (we only see her from behind). The robber tosses her a stack of bills for "making him refreshed". Lady Red picks up the money and stares at it in silence (the money covers her breasts, and her legs block her privates). In the last panel, Lady Red is on the streets working as a prostitute, with a man asking her "how much?". The closing narration reads "I am Lady Red. Now, I am a messenger of sexual skill." (I pun on "messenger of justice"; justice is 正義/seigi, while "sexual skill" is 性技, which is read the same way. 性技 doesn't appear to be an actual word though, but rather just a kanji combination Toriyama made up for the sake of a pun).
Fuck Dende. Toriyama's MY new god!
